Yes I absolutely love doing my whisk(e)y tasting from a glen cairn glass. And I have even taken the same whiskey and compared the aromas from a glen cairn and a rocks glass. The difference was amazing when I got my first glen cairn. It was definitely more focused and did not let the aromas escape the glass like they do in a rocks glass.
When i was living in Ireland they always had whiskey from that kind of glass. In Sweden, for some reason, it is often serves in ”old fashioned” glasses ( what you called a ”rocks glass”) which is really mainly suitable for the Old Fashioned cocktail ( the thick bottom for crushing a sugarcube ).
I really like the Canadian Glen Cairn glass. I have a plethora of glasses for whiskey. I have a smooshed Glen Cairn that I use as my primary choice. I have a big nose (broken 3 times).
It is very good! …and as its almost (except from the stem) idenical to the glasses which the distilleries in Cognac/France use and recommend for Cognac, I think it is well suited for most aromatic spirits (not so for „pure“ spirits like vodka or German „Korn“)
anything As a teatotaler ALL my life I can say the only aspect of Celtic culture I never cared for "The Drink". I worked nightclubs all through my 20s, and I was a teetotaler. Dick Van Dyke

The best for neat IMHO. Very cool background, thanks for sharing!
I like that it has a similarity to the shape of the thistle as well. I’m sure it’s unintentional, but still.

My brother swears on polished granite "ice cubes" as they chill the whisky but does not water the whisky down.
