I wish but doubt it considering their last few albums have been more focused on groove. It's better to go listen to Fredrik Thordendal's solo project Sol Niger Within which was heavy on the jazz influenced by Allan Holdsworth and even had a saxophone solo on at least one track. If you haven't listened to it, then I guarantee that's what you're looking for, because it's still heavy as fuck.
Hearing the harmony at the 1:00 part made my entire body go into a semi spasm for a moment. What you did there is something really special. Many of us have probably heard this song 100 or 1000 times, the element of surprise in expecting a certain note but getting something completely different while still this perfect is beyond words. Been a while since I had such a strong musical experience, thank you sir.
🫂🫂🫂 Johan, wow, thank you for this ❤️. One of the highest compliments I could possibly receive as a musician and human being. Truly humbled by your words. Here's to another 1000 listens of this incredible Meshuggah song 🤘🏿❤️🍾
Yo i second this - that was a massive feeling i got when that harmony came in. When i read this comment, i was only at the 0:47 mark and was already melting, and thought "ohh shiiit where is this going at 1:00". My goodness. Another thank you @jeromeburns1785 for taking what was already a borderline sacred song for me and adding a gorgeous dimension
Damn this dude is fucking legit. I don't normally give praise to RUclips musicians but I was doing something else and listening to this, and it was amazing. You got the presence, the energy, whatever you want to call it.
Love it my dude... the ending of this song always pulls me emotionally. In a softer way than any other Meshuggah song. I feel like this is the only melodicly gentle section from Meshuggah's discography lol. You harmonized beautifully, man! Well done.
@@Mileshuggah exactly 🙏 this bit hits me so hard already but that very first line into it just amps it up so hard. I've actually started to learn it on guitar, as best I can anyway
Perfect, wonderful, incredible! Your solos match Meshuggah a lot, in a different way, I don't know how to explain it... It seems that if Meshuggah incorporated trumpets into their music, they would sound the way you did, both in timbre and note choices... Good job!
I constantly struggle to play Meshuggah on the trumpet because the sound “never fits” and it leads to feeling inadequate or incomplete. Knowing my love for Shuggs still somehow translated and came across through my horn to you means absolutely everything to me 🥹❤️. Thank you so much for this comment 🫂🫂🫂
@@yordanmishev6781 don't get me wrong, i love this track. the thing is it always brings me back to when a close friend drowned about 10 years ago. guess you could say it's bittersweet.
@@bucko60 Man, sorry to hear that! I don't know what to say, I mean I have very negative memories (not as much as your case probably), but don't care much about the negative memories, I'm just enjoying the song for what it is most of the time. after all when a band makes a song they couldn't know what memories listeners are going to have with those songs if any at all, but probably you should stop listen to that song if the memory is too much to bear. I use to get quite depressed over a lot of metal lyrics, but kinda learned to not care as much anymore just by switching my emotions/feelings off or at least to be more in control of them then before and it really helps me, more over I do vocals as well, so I'm learning a lot of lyrics now and actually know how sad some songs are, but after all just venting out negativity by screaming out some good tunes. hopefully one day you'd be able to listen to that tune and just enjoy for the sake of the music! good luck, best wishes, man! :)
Sonny Sharrock always said he wished he’d played saxophone instead of guitar. Picking up on the dynamics and tone that the trumpet adds to this lead, I hear exactly what he means
Well this is proof of my idea for Trombone Shorty playing with Devin Townsend or having a metal version of Chuck Mangione's Children of Sanchez would work.
Thank you for elevating jazz and metal. This REALLY needs to catch on. Kinda reminds me of King Crimson in a way too...
Djazz 😎
Imagine at Meshuggah’s next concert this guy just shows up out of nowhere for this song’s solo.
Bro I would go absolutely mad
I’d get two notes in before a security guard would tackle me off stage 🤣
I'll pay your hospital bills. I need this
@@Mileshuggah We wil settle the bill no worries. GO FOR IT!
Brb, gotta summon my inner Leroy Jenkins
I would be in the mosh pit physically and mentally then
More proof meshuggah needs to embrace jazz fully on their next album
that would be fkng hilarious. Super brutal album title and cover, big promotion for a gigantic wall of sound on social media... and it's full on jazz.

Thordendal has always been influenced by Jazz, meshuggah have always been jazz
you want pure jazz, go listen to a jazz band
Do you know Tigran Hamasyan?
I want to have a full Meshuggah discography with this guy in it
Me too, man 🤣🤣🤣
The trombone guy did it better

made me cry quicksilver tears
I wish there was a 10 hour version of this. This feels transcendent and I just want to live in its sound.
Wow... the way you played this harmony actually brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely love it.

i can't understand. Why trumpet sounds so good with Meshuggah. Also i had watched video with sax, it's also awesome

Middle section of In Death Is Death is kinda pretty too :)
Sounds like bird calls in the begginning, but then something goes wrong with the birds
Don't worry, the birds are still safe, they just temporarily got caught in a Meshuggah fueled updraft
covers like yours really highlight the jazz influence in fredrik's leads
This part always perfectly encapsulated that feeling of realizing your own mortality, which is what the song is about. Your harmony part was great.
this almost made me cry. thanks)
Your solo makes me calm ❤ thank you
This is immensely beautiful. Thank you!
My pleasure 🎺❤️
I appreciate people who can feel meshuggah; and indeed i felt as described when i heard the song for the first time! ...yeah, play that jazz!
The one piece of music that always seems to make me well up and you added extra emotion to it, excellent stuff

So so beautiful. Loving your harmony during Thordenthal's solo as it's not what I was expecting but it works so well!
I'm gonna comment again. Nothing comes close to this. What can I say that I haven't already. So good! So beautiful.
A cherry on the pinnacle of serenity. Top job man, and the harmony, in the pocket. You feelin' it right.
It's new dimension dude! Hymn to endless space. Bravo!
thank you for that, you are certainly a talented musician my man. keep up the good work. I hope you're doing well now. keep it up brother!

You made Meshuggah's most depressing solo sound not so depressing. Stellar
Thank you! I always found this solo super inspiring and uplifting. “Closed Eye Visuals” feels way more depressing to me.
