    tom is most probably the most gifted strongman athlet ever - the "ease" with which he continues to get better, coping new movement patterns, getting stronger.... all the best Tom, stay healthy and uninjured.

    • @lukebbuff
      @lukebbuff 10 месяцев назад +4

      Tom is my favorite strongman but that’s a big claim. There are a few different talents involved:
      Mitch is even more mind boggling in terms of how quickly he learns and masters new techniques.
      Thor and Z and next level in terms of how quickly they can gain and lose mass without sacrificing health or performance too much.
      Tom has both of those talents to a really high degree. A combination of mindset issues have held him back at times but he seems to keep getting better in that regard too.
      I don’t think it’s crazy to think both Tom and Mitch could approach the top tier of greats if they keep going but it’s a high mountain to climb given how much harder it is to stay consistent with the depth of the field increasing so much.

    proud to have spoken to tom as he went pro, sponsored him and then watched him become awesome. If you get the opportunity, please do speak to him, he's a lovely wholesome guy and obviously an awesome inspiration as a strongman.
    If he does have a weakness, I think it's that he's been told for so long that he's so good that the mental events, like a hold, he struggles to focus and be as good as maybe he should be. I think having Mitch come in has been a wake up call for Tom, no one else in the UK is even close to just how good he is, and he's acknowledging and improving his few weaknesses.

The best I’ve seen from Tom during this prep was 400x4 in a suit on standard bar. To me 440 raw on elephant bar replica seems superior. And Thor have 6 more weeks to improve, while Tom will take part in BSM. I think it will take some energy from him leading to ASC. In general I believe Tom will pull 440-445 at ASC, while Hafthor will pull 455-460 if nothing goes wrong.
