hello there, I happened to come across your video looking for gemstone tester reviews. And it stuck to me that you mentioned that you will need to have some knowledge on gemstones. do you have any suggestions on any books or to look into or what's the best source to learn on gems? this video was very helpful btw.
Thanks - there are dozens on the market, I would start on ebay -look for good glossy photos and details- books are expensive, I always buy used when possible. There are good educational channels here on RUclips. If you want education, steer very clear of auctions/selling videos; many are ill informed and sinister to say the least. Jason Adams is an exceptional channel - do check his channel out- bring a note pad he is a metal smith and jewelry aficionado- he detests the word "expert" but between you and I, he gets awfully close to that adjective.
Hilarious and very entertaining reading of the instructions, Thelma! Loved it!
Thanks so much! LOL
I loved your video . Your
rings you tested were all
gorgeous . Thank you for
showing your treasures
with us .
Thank you for watching.
Your amethyst test worked. The needle doesn't move to the word amethyst, it only moves along the black line below Quartz, Citrine, Amethyst. Since it went to the right edge of the line, it's indicating amethyst. If it sits more toward the left end of the line it's quartz. And in the middle is citrine. I do find it interesting that those 3 stones are in a different order on the Presidium tester. Just don't remove it "onto" anything...🤣
Thank you so much for the information, and for watching.
Was coming here to say this. LOL. I kept willing Thelma to hear me saying, "No! It's working fine!" Haha. You want the needle to go into those black bars and the words above each bar indicate what possible stones register within that black bar but the words are just longer than the area the needle should land. Great video. Thanks
Omg Thelma I just started watching and you are cracking me up lol you sound like me reading instructions 😂 very interesting. Some beautiful rings. Love the blue double flower 💙TFS
Thank you for watching Kathleen, I hate directions, even recipes are troublesome. LOL. I followed them throughly though. LOL.
I wish we could have seen the screen while you were testing.
I'm sorry about the camera issue.
Learned a lot; thank you for the great video, Thelma!
Love & Light,
Patricia
Thank you Patricia.
Thanks for sharing. Still on the fence about getting a tester.
I know what you mean- so pricey and iffy.
Really fun watching the confusion with the identity of those gems. I’m a bit of a magpie and love anything that sparkles. Such a cool machine regardless ( or maybe because) of the bewilderment. Thanks for the entertainment Thelma. 😊😘🇳🇿
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi 👋 Thelma we learn so much from you what a beautiful ring collection you have 😊
Thanks so much
lol. this is perfect. I struggle with some gems too. I relate to you gem tester.
Thank you so much for watching.
Great tip on the movement of the persidium.
Wonderful, thank you for watching Lori.
Yey this is so cool! 💖
Thank you!
A real November birthday Topaz!! Not blue Not citrine Not smokey. Just TOPAZ back in the day and everyone knew it was yellow or golden in color. There's so many lab created you can't even keep up.
I have a natural imperial topaz ring! I paid a pretty penny for it, but I love it!
@@debigardini380 How wonderful it must be. Thank you for watching.
Could you test more of your rings and necklaces? This is so interesting!
I will soon. I’m sending this one back and buying the super duper Presidium. 😃
Wow, thanks for this video!❤
You're welcome 😊
Fascinating information Thelma.
Thank you!
The purple stones are amethist. The indicator needs to point at the gray bar under the words. Good luck!
Thank you for your help.
This just proves the point that you expressed from the time these became popular, that it’s finicky and not science. I don’t think I will be investing in another one, but I see why many would. This was fun for sure👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💝
Exactly, thank you for being here Vanessa.
Thanks, with you I always learn something new and interesting. This video also I laugh. 😅
Glad to hear that!
Good informationn❤❤❤
Thank you!
Thank you enjoyed ❤
Thank you so much.
enjoyed this video. I have a lot to learn.
Thanks so much for watching my channel.
That opal ring is Awesome! 😍! Looks like a real black opal 😍😍
Thank you!
This was very educational and fun.
Thank you Cassandra.
Thanks!
Omy! Thank you so much, how very kind of you.
Very nice video Thelma!
Thank you Debra.
I can justify you having it as a retailer and your eye for gem stones! I’d have to take it to my jeweler. I hope it was a gift to you for that price😘
Thanks Lynn, not a gift, very pricey.
My tanzanite bought in st Thomas is a beautiful lt purple
Tanzanite is an incredible stone - mesmerizing color.
Hi Thelma good morning. Very interesting video!, you kept my eyes on the video all the way to the end. You have a very beautiful ring. I have a ring that has three stones, one purple, another smoke, and the other dark pink, but one of them when I tested it with the diamonds test, go all the way to diamonds how? I don't know how reliable these stone tests can be, but I enjoy your video. Thank you for share. God bless you
Thank you so much!
The stone that you show as topaz may be a color changing stone so try a black-lite on it!
Thank you for the information.
I've heard but don't know that your supposed to test on the flat surface not your hand.
I've never heard that, nothing on instructions as well or Presidium videos. Something to look into though.
Good to know.
Thanks for watching.
Hello Thelma 🎉❤
Good morning!
Thank you for making this video!! I like yours better than presidium. I would definitely drop it too. 😑😊
Thanks for watching!
Thelma, did you hear about the new multicasting feature on whatnot? That would be such a cool option for you!
No, I have so much to learn there. I do love it though.
Amethyst and citrine are in the quartz family 😊
Indeed, thank you for the information.
So what is your opinion of the Presidium 11 VS the Smart Pro. Gem Eye 1?
All the same pseudo science- shoddy cheap machine - overpriced and low quality toy.
I thought the 3 stone ring looked like silver sapphire before you tested.
I'm sorry it was off the frame, I'm going to do an update wit Presidium.
The blue one that went to topaz looks like London blue topaz to me.
It does indeed.
My diamond tester instructions says that I have to adjust the reading to 5 to allow for the size of the gemstone.
Thats interesting.
I will love to purchase your old priredium?
Deal! Email me at Thelmahoards@gmail.com
I think the amethyst is on the same indicator as the citrine not the jade. 😊
Yes, you may be right Kerrie, thanks for being here.
I enjoy this video 😅😅
Thank you!
Hi, just to comment about the confusion when you try amethyst, Both quartz, citrine and amethysts are from the family of quartz. That’s why it marks it. The word amethyst so I see on the screen, s written under jade, but it belongs to the next row.
Thank you so much for the clarification. Thank you for watching.
It's a grey sapphire, 😊
So cool - thank you.
I always assumed that the higher on the persidium the more valuable but the tanzanite is lower then amethyst and I thought that tanzanite was a higher value gemstone?
It just measures the hardness of the stone on the mohs scale, it doesn't really say anything about value because each gemstone has characteristics that increase their value that have nothing to do with that.
Oh, I meant to mention for example Tanzanite is only sources from one known mine, and that mine is estimated to be fully mined in under 40 years. Rarity is one aspect that determines value, but even then the color, clarity, etc, will determine the value within those.
ty possum I knew about tanzanite that's why I was asking but you answerednmy ? that hardness has nothing to do with value. Rarity does along with clarity.
No, not at all. Thanks @possumfriend2335 for the informative answer.
Thank you so much for the information.
Your categories will have the names above them with the black line below. Ignore the writing below your black line. Anything in the quartz family could test in the same range. I think your pink and purple ring is beautiful and the pink could be morganite. If you have a morganite, see where it goes on the tester, then compare test results.❤😊And your Yurman Amethyst is in the black line range of Qtz/Citrine/Amethyst.
Just pay attention to the black line and the words above it.
Thank You so much ❤️💎❤️
@@ThelmaThrift you’re welcome was fun watching you test your beautiful rings!🥰
Doesn't this use ultrasounds to test resistance?
No not Ultrasound, thermal dynamic I believe.
You seem to have misinterpreted the amethyst with jadeite bar.
Thank you for helping.
Doesn't it have to be calibrated?
I did calibrate it; I edited the video -left out that part as well as reading the entire instructions. Thank you for watching Iris.
Beautiful rings 💍😍
@@debvlogs4510 Thank you!
I do know that real stone is very cold to the touch. Synthetic or manmade will not be cold.
Thanks for the tips. Thanks for watching.
Precidium I can't spell it...😂❤
Me either ♥️💎
I think your Yurman is tanzanite
Thanks for watching the video. It’s possible indeed.
I do not believe you have large tanzanite stones as those are hard to come by, very expensive and would have been way more scratched if in that setting
Thank you for the information and for watching.
😊🥰
Thank you!
😊
Thank you!
Old tester give me for free 😅

It's not mansplaining if it's somebody that loves you. That's only when you're being patronized by some obnoxious male person.
LOVE that! Thank you for the clarification.
