Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2142, Battlefield 2 and all of the *free* mods will always be superior to all other Battlefield installments. These days I cannot even play modern BF games. After BFV went on sale I bought it, played it a few times and completely stopped. Meanwhile, all of the aforementioned I can play happily to this day!
It's not age. Games are becoming crappier. Remember the original Battlefront II? You could fly into the enemy's main spaceship, destroy critical systems from inside, escape and win the game. I'm pretty sure the last Battlefront II was a flop by comparison. Nowhere near the same replay value.
@@derp8575these games were truly sandbox. I remember in desert combat I’d stick c9 explosives to a humvee, speed towards the enemy then quickly exit the vehicle and detonate it in a suicide bomb lol. Today’s games are way more linear and less room to do nutty things.
growing up, my dad would play this game and I got hooked, the 8 cd pack got handed down but got lost after moving several times. Recently acquired a NOS collection and has been like going back in time. The good old days... flooding in with that loading screen soundtrack.
This game was actually one of the main reasons why I became such a huge history nerd, this was actually also my brother's favorite game before he passed. Me and him would race to get her homework done when we got home from school, and almost kill each other on our way downstairs to get to the computer. @@MrThearmydude Personally I don't trust mainstream history. Take the Civil War for example. Why would people who couldn't even afford a slave risk their lives, limbs and sanity fighting a war so that the 1% could own slaves? I can't imagine a modern-day soldier fighting in a war so that Bill Gates could own a private jet. Just my 0.02. Thanks for the interaction!
A game that requires skill. Dedicated server rentals and a server browser. No SBMM or EOMM garbage like today. Older games are looking better because they were better.
Playing this map on a LAN was frustrating as hell - other than me and like 1 or 2 other people, who actually did well in the fighters, the other idiots would take the planes just to bail out as soon as they passed the coast… Sometimes they’d even TK you when you were waiting for the plane to respawn so they could jump out all over again…
I'm sad to say there's only like three maps out of the entire battlefield 1942 franchise where you can blow up buildings. They really just didn't have the building destructibility capability until later series. I think there was two or three missions on the forgotten weapons of world war II dlc, what was very similar to the Battle of britain, but yeah not much
@@MrThearmydude this is the first time i see destructible buildings.. and we played bf 1942 since the release.. mass games in net cafe on lan, damn that was so awesome.. but nobody knew about this :D being 12 years old was a different world
@@MrThearmydude I'm cool with that so long as I can play the original Battlefield. So what if I can't see as much building destruction as the newer BF installations? At least I can play singleplayer with bots and full maps. At least mods are amazing and free. At least I can pilot an aircraft carrier. At least it's still replayable after 20 years. Modern BF games are normally dead within a few years.
I remember spamming the bombs, and only to realised that we need to destroy the factory in order to win. Plus, I don't know why OP keeps ejecting, OP could've wait for the bombs to reload, or return back to airstrip to refill.

Older aaa games > new aaa games
BF1 went extra hard though
you know you're getting old when over 20 years old games start looking this good
It's how I feel it's over

Holy shit the nostalgia is overwhelming.
My british ww2 vet grand parents hated that I liked being the Germans in this map.
Lol I was 12 and they gave me shite for it.

Mainstream narrative history or alternative?
@@derp8575 a little mix of both, I would definitely say I'm more so fascinated with military history but any history to me is good

I still pop in once in a while. thankfully there are still people playing online
good job soldier
I remember playing this when it was still running on EA servers
That was was....a really really long ago

Better than the new BF2. Such a shame. Entertainment is supposed to get better as time passes. We are quickly learning that it's not.
What’s BS is they shut the servers down but will still sell you the game

is it possible to destroy all these "factories" in the game or only in this map?
Only in this map
Why were you shooting at the factory???
Why not? 🙂
The objective is to destroy the factory, but it takes forever with the bazooka
