    The alternator that Jeff is showing you is a Ford 1G style face plate grafted to a very common GM 10si one wire alternator. Anyone can do this dirt cheap via the bone yard. Notice the black plastic cap that covers the two male prongs for the idiot lite on GM applications.

    What do you do about the alternator volt warning light with this particular system

    One question... what about the brown wire labeled “ ignition alternator “ ???? I seen a wiring detail for a GM “SI” alternator ( where one side wires to the 2 wire plug in, the other ( heavier gauge) wire to the post going to the solenoid???or does this wire ( brown) need to be landed elsewhere ??? I bought a American Autowire kit for a 73 to 79 ford truck, and installed it ...this has been my biggest question

    I have a 1972 Ford f100, and i want to install a one wire alternator just like you did. I was wondering how you wired the rest of the truck to that alternator?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 месяца назад +1

      It's a little deceptive because we did an American Auto wire kit on the truck. That is already set up for a one wire alternator.

    Summit racing sells the wire with boot. They offer two different sizes for the fitting size along with several different lengths.

      Thanks! It is a good idea, but not provided with the American Autowire kit. We wanted to show the wiring as it comes.

      @j j 2021 I have not gotten to that point yet. Still working on getting the new American AutoWire Harness installed as time permits. If you like, I have some videos posted to my channel showing my progress.

    SEND HELP! If I go to a one wire, can I bypass my factory Voltage regulator? And if so, do I wire the power lead to the ignition switch (black with yellow wire) to positive stud on starter relay?

    I want to swap to a 100amp one wire, but the one that I got doesn't fit between the brackets and the heads. Where can I get a bracket that mounts in the low position like you have?

    • @AutoRestoMod

      They may be available from Auto Krafters.

    So, you need a boot for that one-wire terminal, Jeff?

    • @AutoRestoMod

      LOL no. I can get one but I am out of termials and the hang of the alternator puts it out of harms way (no block surfaces). Thanks though Keith!

    What amp fuse able link? I’m doing the same exact swap as we speak

    • @AutoRestoMod

      I'd guess it needs to be just over max amperage for the alternator.

      @@robertclymer6948 if you’re worried about a fuseable link, just replace it with a fuse holder and 100 amp fuse. You can also (what I like to do), get a 100 amp circuit breaker.

    Your crimping in the previous video is adequate, especially soldering it after the fact. A home hobbyist isn't going to spend the money on that tool to only use it once.

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  5 лет назад +1

      True. I honestly would buy the crimpers. I've used the extra terminals from time to time on various projects. American Autowire rents the tool too.

    I have an 81 F-100. There's a wiring harness leading to the lights which has a plug that plugs into the alternator harness which plugs into the voltage regulator. Doesn't that harness draw power that way?

    • @AutoRestoMod
      @AutoRestoMod  3 года назад

      Yes...maybe? It sounds like a way to get higher voltage to the lights. The light switch controls the flow.

    Everything I do must be supported by "on the road" parts availably. Say if a place like NAPA doesnt carry it Im out. Why? I drive everything I build, X country, on a given day. My 62 Falcon sedan delivery has made 3 trips to Ca and back, easy. Other trips include, SC, NY, FL, TX, CO, IN and OH where I live. I keep the parts package tabs in my folder thats with the car so I have the exact replacement. There was only one issue on the road...14 inch car tires, theres trouble.
