    Awesome design.. I've been running outboard jets on the rivers here in the NW on the SW Washington rivers for 30 yrs fishing steelhead and salmon and thinking how to improve outboard shallow water performance and never thought of a steerable nozzle like on an inboard pump.. And the acceptor plate system is ingenious.. You guys are very innovative and knowledgeable and it is a game changer for outboard jet capabilities..

    Great Video, Good Information

    Greetings and thanks for the video information. I just thought of a crucial decision-making question. But first let me give you some entail of the weight set-up/distribution in the boat:
    It has a heavy (130 lb give or take) 25 Horsepower Mercury Jet drive 2-Stroke Outboard, AGM Gel Optimum Bluetop cranking battery, and (185 lb) me in the back of the jon boat
    The front has a 55 lb thrust Motorguide (about 30+ lbs) trolling motor, two heavy Duracell deep cycle batteries, a 5.5 gallon fuel tank, a couple of anchors (37 lbs total ), etc.
    (And eventually I may add front and rear decking)
    I thought to put Nauticus trim tabs on my 14 foot jon boat to help it come on plane even better.
    But if I install the trim tabs, will the stern/transom be raised too high out of water and cause too much air to get sucked in the intake of the jet drive?? The white caps/big chop I have endured coming across the main lake doing 19 mph made me think about this!!😆😅

    Theses are well made boats with a very innovative take on intake and steering nozzle design. That being said, I have seen all of the RRJB Videos and have yet to see them do anything that a standard tunneled hull jet boat could not. I want to see a video of one of theses boats running a bolder infested fast moving river that I would never think of taking a regular boat through. If they can’t do that, then all they are is another heavy jet boat that sucks to get stuck.....

    • @honorableoutlaw5410
      @honorableoutlaw5410 3 года назад +1

      One advantage I can see is turning performance especially in shallow with the intake staying stationary and steering with the nozzle.. But you are right the tunnel boats perform very well also.. But this is how new things come about.. The market sorts all..

    • @peterpeel3878
      @peterpeel3878 3 года назад

      @@honorableoutlaw5410 You are correct that hard turning in shallow water might start to induce cavitation on a typical tunnel design. But if set up correctly it is manageable. However, mounting a nozzle and moving your point of thrust vectoring further back increases your effective turning radius. I do like the design and think it is well suited for larger rivers. But I want to see some videos of those things banging down a slough over rocks and boulders. I also think a stick steer option would be cool.

    Soon as you weld it, it's no longer T6 in the heat affected area surrounding the welds. It loses alot of the temper that the heat treatment process put into that T-6 6061 . Either way, that thing is still a tank. Awesome boats !

    Mason is about as good a guy as he seems... Think about that. Dude called me yesterday (Fri AM early) after I'd hung up, realizing I didnt have all the info needed half way thru the call. DAMN If MAson didnt callld even sit down! When your from NY, this could seem a little pushy cause you may get some jerk who says: "Hey why you calling me?" OR "How'd you get this number" or "You're that radio DJ/singer guy with the band right? Is my wife there?"
    No... Mason was a just genuine guy who wanted to help. Before I could say WT, Mason was on the phone tracking down the info I needed. Immediatly e he told mewho's have the answer (4spline or 16? on a 1986?, ID tag missing, Johnson 70hp right? First he tells me to call LUKe, the actual guy who actully built my jet unit! (Mason just builds his own brand of better jet boats), and other than a hard-working jet builder who'se head was an encyclopedia of Outboard facts. With a 90 degree clear weekend coming and a chance to recoup the SHIT MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND we had, Mason called me back with the guy on the other end of a 3 way call!
    Other than being a great guy who loves to help, or a potential customer, and building his business thru genuine honesty and helintegrity, On my first meeting, I find myself recommending guy & his buiness to people I've never met before. If Mason's Jet Boats are as good as treatment of clients, then I have no chiice but telling peole to make himyour first stop, oh and Luke the guy who builds the actual bolt on Jet units! Two great guys who took a few out of abusy day to help a guy get on the water! Huh, Reminds me of when I met Willy G. Davidvon 35 yrs ago and he offered ME a JOB I didn't take: Kick! Kick!! Kick!!! OWW! WTF was I thinkin?
    Anyway, make these guys your first call! Everyone needs a freakn jet boat! Yoiu'll never get the smile off your face! Oh btw Mason, my wife and I do marketing, materials and the ideas. LOGOS, Product Tag Lines, Corp Catch Phrases, TV, Radio spots, from Jet Boats to Rock Stars, itf ou sell it, you need us! product, we can do it! My wife's also a killer Portrait artist, and We've worked with some HUGE names. I even aleady have a product tag line ready for ya!
    Thanx dude,

    That system of mounting the outboard is pretty slick idea but outboards are weak - filled with malfunctions and scam outboard mechanics like to lie and take advantage of outboard owners.
    I started my fishing & Hunting guide services in 1976 and today in 2022 I'm still guiding clients.
    In 2021 I had all I want of shitty outboards then during the rebuild of my guide jet boat off went the Mec 225 EFI then went in the jet was a 1969 rebuild Chevrolet Big block 402 @ 500 hp. powering a Berkeley JG jet pump now total end of all outboard engines common problems caused by outboards.
    Never again will my guide work boats have large outboards.
    Also swapping out an inboard isn't any more of a problem than dealing with outboards.
    Outboards used for guide work last 1 1/2 years at best then the Chevrolet V8 last many years
