    I remember Von Daniken's argument being more akin to "cargo cult behaviour": that they were trying to call down beings with superior technology by imitating landing strips and the like. It's been at least 30 years since I read those books though. They're good fun if you don't take them too seriously.

    7:52 As a Dane, I am used to hearing Brits confusing the nationality name Danish with Dutch, but I have never heard Swiss be confused with Swedish before. Erich von Däniken is from Switzerland!

      We do understand a lot of Danish though

      @@ScPolaroids Not the actual language, just the name of language/nationality. Should have specified that, and have edited my comment now :) But yes, there are linguistic connections between our languages, although there are many differences too :)

    The cat doesnt look like it belongs to the Nazca people. It doesnt fit the aesthetic of the other figures and isnt as precise. It looks more like a doodle by a 6 year old. Its almost as if at some point someone saw the lines and decided they could make one but they didnt know how.

    • @CoffeeLoki67879
      @CoffeeLoki67879 2 часа назад +1

      I would guess that the cat was either the first one and looks so bad because it was a practice run, or was the last one and was made by people with diminishing capabilities due to the mentioned ecological changes that wiped out the Nazca people. Granted, thats just my speculation, but it makes sense to me.

    Every time I see a video on the Nazca Lines I am disappointed. Every video on them goes over how they made something so big, what purpose did they serve, why were they made, etc. None of them ever spend more than a few seconds on how they are still here. I want to know how they made something so big and so durable as to stay not only visible, but in fairly good contition over a thousand years later. Ive heard "they used scale drawings, unit conversions, and rope to make the drawings" dozens of times. Ive never heard anything about what is so special about the area as to allow the lines to stay in such good shape for so long, what materials they are made out of that are that durable, why no other group of people populated the area and destroyed the lines, etc. I dont want to hear "they were made using scale drawings and were probably for gods, but we arent sure." I want to hear "they are made of this specific type of clay that hardens like this which is why they are so durable, the geography of the area means there is not regular rainfall making the area largely uninhabitable and prevents erosion, which has kept both nature and people from destroying the lines." but with the detail that people say "they were made using scale drawings and were probably for gods, but we arent sure."

    • @Skelath
      @Skelath 2 часа назад +1

      Because they're 10-30cm in depth, there's so little rain, wind, and erosion, the exposed designs have stayed largely intact for 500 to 2000 years.
      However, some truck driver recently ignored warning signs and drove through the area doing significant damage to the lines.
      Should note that a lot of ancient cultures worshiped animals.
