I've had such horrible experiences with Continental. The reviews say they're good but the way their tread wears down has been a nightmare. On the other hand every Michelin I've tried has been amazing.
@@tyrereviews Anytime, thank you for your effort! I am so excited to swap out the stock RFTs on my wife’s X3 M40i for some of the Michelin’s. I'd love to see a freezing temperature dry handling test to stand alongside the snow handling laps. for many people interested in these tires that maybe more important than snow handling.
Thanks! I've had 4 sets of DWS06 tires that I've loved but will be buying PSAS4's after this video. Other resources confirmed your results. Could you please make that happen? Would be the holy grail of tire tests.
I've been using the Michelin CrossClimate+ for a while now, absolutely fantastic tyre. Looking forward to seeing their replacement or hoping these ones come to the UK.
Me too, I understand the CC2 has better snow performance though which puzzles me, as I think the CC+ is perfectly adequate on snow and I’d instead want CC2 to improve on wet braking and rolling resistance without degrading its other qualities. Otherwise it risks moving away from its mild / dry winter bias
@@tyrereviews Bought a set of CC2 and they should be arriving by Tuesday (delayed in shipping due to the winter storm). Can't wait to try them out. Should be a good upgrade over the BFGoodrich tires I've got on (which were no slouch in the dry)

Be interesting to see what these tyres are like after they are worn down a bit. I suspect the Bridgestone ones will drop off badly once the small sipes have worn down.
Thank you for the test! Having seen some snow in the UK in the few weeks, and running on summer tyres I was thinking to buy either Snow chains or Snow shokes. But wasn't too sure which is the best option. How about a comparison test between those two, with pros and cons?
Well done review on the AS4 vs the DWS06+. Would be interesting in seeing the AS3+ vs. the AS4 directly but no doubt Michelin doesn't need people buying the older, discounted older tires
Jonathan, I’m quite enjoying your tire reviews, and marveling at your snow driving abilities! I’ve been a fan of the Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ on a Suby 02 WRX Wagon with sti springs, koni adjustable struts, whiteline adjustable sway bars front and rear, strut tower bars f/r, polyurethane bushings, -1, -1.5 camber f/r, Group N strut tower mounts. This suspension rewards quick response tires, and can feel a bit unsafe with tires that lag in response or wallow in the least. Also tires that follow rain grooves are nonstarters. So, how does the A/S 4 handling compare with the A/S 3+? Looks like snow handling has improved- which is why I buy these tires for winter mountain trips. But also drive about 3 months of the year on these in SoCal - so mostly dry handling is important too? Usually run Mich Pilot Super Sports the balance of the year as a summer/fun tire. Thanks for any input/insight on this! To me the A/S 3+ tires have been very competent- kind of like an 8/10 super sport in the dry. Riding a bit better and a bit quieter. Snow is on the good side of marginal. They track straight, but braking in snow or ice is iffy. Cornering in snow is reasonable.
@ScottoGrotto ... +1. Agreed.... The Michelin A/S 3+ in snow,,,, braking sucks.. White knuckle even. .. Re: '21 Subi Outback Touring XT ... Run the A/S 3+ on several cars as a 3-season tire. . Here in Vail, CO winter snow tires are a must.
Also, in Michigan we typically carry a bag of salt, a bag of sand and a small shovel in our trunk in the winter. Sorry, I mean boot...we carry them in the boot. ; )

I replaced my P Zero PZ4 summers with Michelin PSAS4 tires last March and so far they're fantastic. I'll see how they are in the slush this winter and if I'm not happy, I have my Xi3 set to go to.
Another great video..... Comparing UHP All Seasons to All Weathers would be a great video unto itself.... I think we all know that neither are going to compare well to dedicated Winter tires....
@@tyrereviews Nice to know.... :-) Here in New England, I know a lot of folks with Subarus. I drive an Outback, and a couple of family members have the Legacy; would be real nice to see what would be best for these vehicles in an All Season & All Weather tire. The only ones I immediately know who go with a dedicated Winter Tire are in Northern Maine & New Hampshire, what we jokingly refer to as The Great White North. ;-)
I am curious now to see how the new Continental UHP ExtremeContact DWS 06-PLUS now compares, because it does have a higher treadwear rating and a longer warranty than the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, but is also a hair cheaper. I live in Salt Lake City Utah which gets 100+ degree F summers and as low as 0 Degree F winters but getting that cold and seeing more than an inch or two of snow happens maybe 3-4 times per year. And so, UHP All-Season tires are the best option for my sporty all-year daily driver - the 2020 Honda Civic SI 2-Door Coupe. Im going to need to replace these horrible factory Honda tires before next year, as these are barely getting me through this winter and are quite sketchy at times. Im hoping there will be a direct comparison at some point between the DWS 06-PLUS and the Pilot Sport All Season 4 for dry, wet, snow, and ice performance before the winter of 2022 hits, here is hoping I can get it worked out by then!
As someone who in his travels can see +30C and dry to -30C with snow and ice within 24 hours, it looks like the Michelin might be the best bet. Pending your review of the Nokian WRG4. 🤔
I have been driving DWS06s for 11 years. Just changed to the Michelin's last year and agree that they do better than the DWS06 though I do still run the DWS06s on our 2012 X5 Diesel
I have the Cooper RS3’s on my ND Miata because they came on the car when I got it and oh my….on light slush/snow/ice they are really scary. They lose traction almost randomly. Of course a lightweight rear wheel drive car isn’t going to be brilliant, but it would be nice to know I can’t still get home when it has just started snowing, and not be stuck at the bottom of my hill, if I could get there… I think I will try the Michelin’s next. Thanks for the review.

I purchased a set of the DWS-+ to replace my worn out Pzero's on my Cayenne GTS and found the dry performance to be sub par to the Pirelli's. They feel "squirmy" under high speed braking and not as confident in the turns but I prioritize wet handling over dry and they're superb in the wet, comfort and noise department and knowing ill have a longer lasting tyre is a bonus.

I also miss Nokian, doubly so as I was due to be testing there next week but I'm not allowed in Finland due to covid restrictions :(
So much snow! Good driving!
I’d love to see a review that compares different categories of all-season tires. Ultra high performance all season vs. grand touring all season, etc. Seems like some tires that are categorized as one thing might be worse in certain aspects that are expected for that category than a tire in a totally different category.
Great suggestion!
@@tyrereviews Using goodyear efficient grip 2 or Primacy4+ as comparison in all condition, that would be awesome !
omg i love this video. As a former Subjective Tire Evaluator for a Japanese tire manufacturer who has tested at KRC for multiple years, i'm pretty sure i've crashed in a similar spot that you showed at the end of the video. Cheers mate =)
Yokohama? :)
@@tyrereviews for my first 5 years in the industry yes, currently at Sumitomo Rubber/Falken tires :)
@@schoo1646 Awesome, hope to see you on the circuit sometime :) I do a bit with Falken in Europe, not had contact with them here (Though I did just get the 660, video out this week hopefully!)
Looking forward to seeing your review on the 660!
I got my pilot sport as3+ on tire rack in the middle of summer on clearance for $450 usd. Just used them in snow this week, I am thoroughly impressed at the control they provide. If you buy any other tire company other than Michelin you're doing it wrong :P
Feel free to head over to www.tyrereviews.com/ and leave a review sometime :)
When am I gonna see a Nokian WRG4 review...
I need a trusty review from the best Tyre reviewer xD
Hopefully next winter!
Enjoyable and informative as always. Excellent testing and data plus great driving make your reviews the best around!
Thank you very much!
great test, as always.
I've been to Houghton couple of times for the winter test as well. (not the actual facility, just drive on public road)
It just amazing that it snows basically every day in winter there.
Also kinda funny that any decent hotel in that town was full with bunch of engineers from everywhere.
(when you see some Asian dude with laptop at the breakfast buffet, you know they are engineers from somewhere for testing, lol. Well I was one of them anyway)
Can't wait to see more videos from there.
It's a really cool place!
Lovely review Jonathan 👏🏽
Just put a set of Michelin pilot sport all season 4 on my CL 550
Transformed the handling
Amazing
Can’t wait for some snow to try
Nice let me know when you find the snow!
@@tyrereviews Just drove 900 kms on them mostly hard rain

For The first time I will use UHP tire, for daily road use with a little spirited driving. Need your advice. Thanks for your help.( My Car E350 4 matic.)
loving the hankook :)
I have bought dunlop sport fm800.
Cracking test & Michelin reigns supreme yet again! But by one hell of a margin! Great test
Glad you enjoyed it
Always making great content! I only buy Michelin's and Continentals, I'm also good with General tires for a cheaper price point. I would love to see this test done with the new Continental DWS '06 "Plus" and see how much closer it comes to the Michelin!
Thanks for the info, just did a quick google, looks like they came out 6 days ago? Interested to hear more as reviewers test them.
I've had such horrible experiences with Continental. The reviews say they're good but the way their tread wears down has been a nightmare. On the other hand every Michelin I've tried has been amazing.
@@stretch90 tread wear is an interesting one. I think the factors are what car is it on and how often are the tires rotated
I believe General and Uniroyal are owned by Michelin. Both of which are great discount tire brands.
Great video as always!
Wow, impressed with the Michelin tires! Will definitely consider trying them after my Contis wear out in a few years.
Woah man close call, I almost scrolled by this! Lol, thanks as always for the tremendous videos!
Thanks for watching :)
@@tyrereviews Anytime, thank you for your effort! I am so excited to swap out the stock RFTs on my wife’s X3 M40i for some of the Michelin’s. I am a huge fan of the old A/S 3+ tires I am running on my M2’s winter wheels. Also going to be switching my summer tires this year for the homologated M2 CS cup 2 connect tires, those should be rad! All based on your videos.
@@curtr.5083 The 4 is a big step up from the AS3+, you're in for a treat :)
Another interesting and comrehensive review buddy! Michelin all-seasons seem to be really outstanding!👍😉
Thanks! 👍
Hey you flew over to Houghton! I've been watching you for about two years and I truly wasn't ever expecting that to happen.
I sure did, flew into Marquette then drove up round the lake :) Beautiful place
@@tyrereviews It’s a magical place.
Top level! As usual. Thank you!
Thanks :D
Would LOVE to see a Nokian WRG4 make it into a test one day❤️
Hopefully this winter!
I still run blizzak WS90's on my FWD Saab 9-5 in the Michigan winter. I'd love to see a comparison of AWD with the best UHPAS tires and FWD and RWD with the best winter tires. Could you please make that happen? Would be the holy grail of tire tests.
Thanks for sharing! Feel free to leave some reviews over at www.tyrereviews.com/ :)
I've been using the Michelin CrossClimate+ for a while now, absolutely fantastic tyre. Looking forward to seeing their replacement or hoping these ones come to the UK.
CC2 will be out this year!
Would love to see the Pirelli Scorpion All Season included. It is possibly the most popular all season tyre available in Australia. As best as I can tell, the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season is not available in Australia.
Great review. Could you do a comparison review of the pilot sport AS and crossclimate+? Thanks
I'd really like to do this, I've just not had the time yet sadly!
@@tyrereviews no problem at all!! Waiting for it and for any other content!!
Well done review on the AS4 vs the DWS06+. Would be interesting in seeing the AS3+ vs. the AS4 directly but no doubt Michelin doesn't need people buying the older, discounted older tires
Singing could be better 🤣 yes a bit shorter but direct and too the point. Always good vid to watch
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Also, in Michigan we typically carry a bag of salt, a bag of sand and a small shovel in our trunk in the winter.
Sorry, I mean boot...we carry them in the boot. ; )
Would love to see how the Michelin stacks up against a series of dedicated snow tires!
From my experience, the Michelin as 3+ are one of the worst performing tires in the snow.
@@lluda44 +1. Agreed .. It is white knuckles in the snow when braking. .. Dedicated winter snows are a must here in Vail, Colorado Re: '21 Subi Outback Touring XT
That was an amazing Video! Really interesting how far all seasons have come. I think it wouldve been really interesting to see how a winter tyre compares to the michelin.
Coming soon :)
Is the Michelin available in the UK? I thought their all season here was the cross climate+?
Yes, but they also have this ultra high performance all season model.
Yeh but only in 4 sizes. Two 19inch and two 20inch. Eye watering prices too
Currently the PSAS4 is not available in the UK :(
@@tyrereviews any chance they're going to be available in the future? Also, what about the updated cross climate that are available in the US, are they coming our way?
Seems like the yanks are getting a lot of superior rubber recently!
@@djd6610 No news on the AS4, however the CC2 will have it's official European launch in the next few months :)
Michekin Xice snow, best studless winter tire so far
I replaced my P Zero PZ4 summers with Michelin PSAS4 tires last March and so far they're fantastic. I'll see how they are in the slush this winter and if I'm not happy, I have my Xi3 set to go to.
Let me know how you find them :)
Another great video..... Comparing UHP All Seasons to All Weathers would be a great video unto itself.... I think we all know that neither are going to compare well to dedicated Winter tires....
It's on the list :)
ho ?
@@dimmacommunication 😝
I have been driving DWS06s for 11 years. Just changed to the Michelin's last year and agree that they do better than the DWS06 though I do still run the DWS06s on our 2012 X5 Diesel
I got me a set of Goodyear exhilarate and they are awesome! Car handles good braking is good just a well rounded tire.
Have to admit, we missed you. Nice test as always.
P. S. You feel so comfortable driving on snow. I wonder what happens when snow starts melting 😁😁😁
Greetings from Greece
Thanks :) I like dry and wet too, but snow is my fav
I purchased a set of the DWS-+ to replace my worn out Pzero's on my Cayenne GTS and found the dry performance to be sub par to the Pirelli's. They feel "squirmy" under high speed braking and not as confident in the turns but I prioritize wet handling over dry and they're superb in the wet, comfort and noise department and knowing ill have a longer lasting tyre is a bonus.
Which P Zeros did you have before?
@@tyrereviews The standard P zero ( N1 Porsche ). They’re not good in the rain and have a short window of grip. I own a 2014 Cayenne GTS and those came standard on them and still do on the current model.

The CC2 improves it too, out this year

I run some Michelin AS/3+ on my G37 and they aren't great in the colder temperatures but are fantastic in the warmer days, was very tempted to pick up some DWS06 instead
but planned to get a set of blizzaks for the winter anyhow.
My roommate ended up snagging a set of DWS06 for his GTI though and they do great no matter the weather.

Nice test!
Thank you!
Thank you for doing all this
I kinda wish this category of tyres was available in parts of Europe, here in southern Italy it'd be a great option.
It'd make everything quite confusing to the average consumer though since there is no legal difference between all season, all weather and winter tyres, only M+S is required.
Edit: thought it was obvious but great job on the testing!
Agreed, it would be nice if we had access to some UHP all seasons :(
Great review! However I'd like to point out Michelin is 7 seconds ahead of Continental. Not 6 seconds :)
