Comparing shoptuff vibratory tumbler stf-18 to Kalamazoo kvf3

Comparing two tumblers. The shoptuff was a good starter tumbler, but the new KVF3 is MUCH nicer.. Video of the KVF3 running at the end.. We never ran these at the same time as one replaced the other. We found the KVF3 to has a slightly longer cycle time of about 90 minutes instead of 70 minutes for steel laser cut parts.. However the KVF3 produced a more even finish and holds roughly 3x more parts and is significantly faster to unload taking only slightly longer to unload three times more parts. Also the reject rate of parts is vastly lower as the large bowl and less aggressive vibration seems to result in few parts getting stuck and damaged.

I am looking to replace my Shop Tuff tumbler. Does the KVF3 stay in place or do the casters allow it to walk around the floor while in operation?

It stays in place for the most part, I want to say two of the casters lock and do a pretty good job of keeping it in place. If it's on a very uneven floor it will scoot around a little until it gets all the wheels in contact with the floor.. I made a set of rubber rings thinking this was going to be a problem, but I've never needed them.

How is the Kalamazoo tumbler working for you?

It's been great. I am currently looking at a Loewer deburring machine for larger easy to damage parts. A while back we found that on most steel parts off our laser cutter we can run the steel without media and it will burnish smooth in about two hours, but you can run nearly three times more parts so it's actually faster than ceramic media and there is almost no mess.

they want 4 k for the KVF3 but you can see the cheap idler pulley and cheap china belt.
