It is remarkable how Jamestown in Virginia has disappered down the American memory hole. The Jamestown settlement 1607 in the Colony of Virginia was the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. Also forgotten is that between 1718 and 1775 over 52,000 convicts were transported from the British Isles to America, mainly to Maryland and Virginia, to become indentured servants for the highest bidder. But walk around downtown Hampton Virginia or the hillbilly mountains if you want to see the remanant of the genes of the poor, criminal classes of Britain. In Belfast (full of mills turn of the 19th century) they were called ‘Millie’s’ still used to describe a young girl usually poor, uneducated, and loutish.
Every documentary this man makes is great! Thanks for uploading.
I really enjoyed that Rich, and to the pint that I will let it slide that day when on one of your gigs you called me a bottle boy!! - I never sat in front row again you bastard!. Love from London Mate
Excellent documentary
I am glad someone finally said this. If I had been alive in Europe in 1620, I would have stayed there and lived
the life of a criminal.
Read about 30 years war from 1615-1645
@@Kannot2023 England stayed mostly out of that, but then it got its own troubles.
Of course American history focuses on the England side of European history...
I remember Mr Hall explaining the definition of "bathquake" to Letterman, a term he concocted in his book he was promoting...all hail Rich Hall
I love this raw and real history lesson from Rich Hall. All this patriotism and "America is the greatest", is very hurtful. Makes me wonder how much lies are told in history classes all over America?
How many lies, not how much. Lies can be counted. How much suggests an undifferentiated mass or quantity you might weigh, for example, instead of counting. How many people. How much traffic. How many fools. How much sugar. How many RUclipss, how much nonsense.
Probably at the very least quite a lot of selective truths.
From what I've heard from a number of people, the main problem with history education in the US is that it is by no means comprehensive and it leaves A LOT out.
They basically never learn the history of other countries, and only selected periods from their own history.
@@beth12svist Yes that's what I imagined. Well that sucks.
I snigged Rich Hall's Disease: SNARKOLEPSY!
