The saga started with a horrible tweet and ended with somehow an even worse one
It's not just the stupid tweet, Rod. It's also being on Hasan's podcast and claiming Doc got arrested. You didn't check a damn thing before stating something like that on such a huge platform. I get why he blocked me. I can appreciate him chatting with Richard about being stupid. Doesn't change what I said about him.

I'm sure he will be back in some way. He fed off being in the limelight for so many years, without that his life will have a massive void that he wont be able to fill. Everywhere he goes, everything he does will bring negative attention. Even without the clothing, he will still get recognized in a lot of places. Unless he moves to some remote place and detaches from reality completely, but I don't think he can do that and not go insane.

In all seriousness, I was never a fan of Slasher's style. But the entire esports scene could really use some more trustworthy voices. I'd very much rather real journalism from people I'm "not a fan" of than whatever the fuck Jake Lucky and the merry band of pokemon LARPers are doing.
The "manosphere" was out in force defending Doc even after he admitted it....pathetic.
Men in the manosphere have dealt with TONS of women both young and old. The reason why they defend Doc is because actual men understand that 17 year olds try to squeeze into adult spaces and pursue older men. In European countries 17 year olds are dating and even engaged to men in their late 20s and early 30s. It's legit NOT a big deal. Only "men" with no experience say the stuff you say.

Great interview Rich, glad to see that you and Rod have buried whatever hatchets you had in the past and can have such a fun and jovial discussion about this story and have both banter and serious talking points, great coverage
I honestly thought it was highly irresponsible journalism as surely this isnt something that Twitch would remain tight lipped about for so long, letting this guy onto a platform with arguably more underage users... But low and behold, it was all true and I still cant understand why Twitch did what they did. If it was some legal issue someone can correct me, but tell me they were trying to save PR by not making parents think their children should not be using Twitch because of the story that would come out.
More so the PR because the evidence/facts currently available/not available suggest twitch knew about it in 2017 but failed to act until 2020. Parents & sponsors alike would haved pulled out

A couple things:
1. Doc was forced to sue Twitch to learn why they had banned him and breached their exclusivity contract with him. When you sue someone, you have to register with the court system. Twitch's legal team was served papers and instead of taking it to court, they immediately chose to settle with Doc outside of court. Why?
2. Twitch saves face by keeping the whole thing private. They save face by not letting the Twitch community know they have a rogue's gallery of employees that will sniff through your DMs and attack you (terrible business model for Twitch if they want to attract talent). Also, it kept quiet the fact their age verification system didn't (and still doesn't) work.
3. At this point it is obvious Twitch employees, specifically their Trust and Safety team, fraudulently convinced their superiors of Doc's wrongdoing. This costed Twitch millions in legal fees and their payout to Doc (also likely millions). Those employees were subsequently fired. There was no legal investigation and both legal teams and the arbitration judge would have been able to see those messages. Legal entities like attorneys are bound by law to report any crime they come upon. Obviously nothing was reported.
4. An NDA was established for both parties. Even though a former employee, who may be or may not be, party to the NDA just blew the whole thing up, Doc and Twitch are still bound to the NDA. So, neither Twitch nor Doc can really defend themselves without bringing in specifics that might land them in hot water.
I guarantee you within next several months, Doc will go public about a lawsuit. It actually might behoove Twitch and Doc to agree on nullifying their NDA so they can both protect themselves from drama being spun up by disgruntled ex-employees.

Good conversation, however I think you are both gave to much credit to the people that are asking for the logs. In my experience these type of people are deniers who will continuously change the goal posts. If you ask these people "If logs come out, how will you know they aren't fake?" most of them will just shut down because their brains don't work well enough to imagine a theoretical reality, the rest will say that Doc will have to confirm that they are real.
No logs. No screenshots. No victim statement. No official law enforcement investigation.
Yet Doc is still guilty? Make that make sense buddy.
He was right with his tweet but I don’t want to give the hearsay attention hungry clout goblin any more credit or attention than he deserves. Slasher’s been garbage and even his handling of this situation has been complete rubbish. He’s made completely unsubstantiated claims that discredit his own story. If Dr. Disrespect didn’t make the worst tweet of all time and EDITED IT TOO this whole situation would be a complete disaster.
I don't remember Rich having any problems or beef with Rod. If anything, it always was Duncan who couldn't stand him despite Rich kinda trying to make it work between them publically.
I think one of the worst parts about this is 2017 was the same year he was apologizing for cheating on his wife so for the doc to say he wouldn't act on it is false he already had given into temptation. So how many other people was he messaging.
The conspiracy theorists arguments all fall apart when you look at what Dr Disrespect himself said. He would never had tweeted that he messaged a minor inappropriately if he had messaged a Twitch employee pretending to be a minor.

I used to play music and we'd get 17 year olds pretending to be older allll the time to get attention, we actually had to resort to ID checks. No joke.

they breached their contract with the supposed "messages" and then were sued to admit that and then defend themselves. Thats why they immediately settled with Doc instead of defending themselves in court.

two things i really feel important to point out: while Doc said he didn't do anything illegal and that be won his case, means pretty much nothing to me. it's very possible (and likely) he did do something illegal with the way he communicated, however the DA or grand jury or whomever may have looked at it, and decided it wasn't enough to indict, or didn't think it was worth the time and resources given how backed up the legal system is, and Docs case was obviously a civil one, and is no place to determine if anything illegal happened
secondly, we all remember GambleLord (%? %? %?) and his massive fall after Ricardo reported on it, but something that wasn't covered anywhere near as much, is that he sued twitch and ended up winning on essentially twitch failing to properly inform or follow proper contractual procedures, but it was only for $20k, and i feel that it could map onto Docs case given how quickly everything happened, and his ban being only months after GambleLords

To clear all doubts, the messages should be unveiled. 1:04:45 no , i dont trust journalists at all.. because in my experience, every person is biased and if you're so trustworthy about your sources, why not disclose all the info you have... why should your personal criteria be enough for someone's life to be ruined? Are you a journalist or a judge, Slasher?
And thus set the precedent that social media platforms can release private communication between two users. Yeah, no thanks. I don't actually weigh knowing what exactly an online personality said to a teenager favorably against the flood gates of privacy violation for every single user being opened.

I think two things can be true at the same time. The leftists who worked and stream on twitch hated doc. Doc is a slimy dude who messaged a minor. See it’s that easy.
There's plenty of evidence of the first, but little to no evidence of the latter.
What stuck with me through all this is this part of the tweet from Midnight Society.

basically if someone do live streaming, and the audience is kids/teen that pretending to be Adult (above 18 yo), all streamers that talk smack or input sexual words to the chat while live on cam, mean "Inappropriate Conduct"? if that is true, i think people should also report that to twitch?

Who is this Richard guy? Where does he get his info? Certanly not from Twitch or Doc himself, or even govermant. We still have to see those messages. And, btw, "Confirmed" by Call of Shame is indead "confirmed", because the email conversation between Doc, Twitch lawyers and judge has been shown, which explicitly shows what was "confirmed". By rational thinking and rational conclusion, Call of Shame wrote "unconfirmed" text, that posibility of setup against Doc and initiation of cancelation procedure by Twitch and former Twitch staff who want revenge against Doc for winning the setlement, is 50-50%, so there is no doubt that it happen/didnt happen.
Journalists are scummy liars, that what I learned in my 40 years of existance, they will lie and condemn people to death to earn $. There is no truth in journalism, only self interest.
