In my freshman year of college, I met and moved in with my boyfriend in the span of two weeks. We were living in the smallest apartment I've ever seen which made us quickly learn a lot about each other and we argued constantly, but we made it work. He graduated last year and got a job as a teacher in Houston which meant he had to move, so now we're long distance. It's been less than a year, but we really only get to see each other once a month. This summer we're moving into a house together, so there is a happy ending to this story.

I was sleeping on my friends couch (because my parents kicked me out) and my now husband came over to her house to hang out. I had heard about him from our mutual friend but never met him. He came over at like 10 pm and we all stayed up talking til around 2am. Then our friend went to bed and we stayed up another 3 hours talking. I told him how I was couch surfing and I had no place to stay he told me he had a spare bedroom I could have if I wanted. I went home with him less than 12 hours after meeting and never left. Four years later we're married. Oh and I never stayed in his spare room ;)
My ex boyfriend Matthew was so adorable, we spent alot of time together and he stayed over at my place I would say %95 of the time. The rest of the time he would stay with his mum at home during the week because it was easier for his university travel. It was so nice for us, it was our first relationship and both of us were learning alot from the experience. It was so nice going out on dates, and those spontaneous adventures were awesome. Like walking the canal all day with our picnic bag, then at 6pm camping out under a bridge on the canal and making out whilst snacking on our goodies. Then heading back into town at 11pm then went for a meal at McDonald's. Lol we had some fun. Sometimes I needed to go to work and he would just stay at mine, It was so lovely waking up in the morning next to him all cuddled up. I loved watching him sleep, I would kiss him as he slept. It was heart breaking having to get out of bed to get ready for work, on my break at work I always rang him. My working day would feel like torture because all I wanted to do is just head home to be with him. After work I would be out the door so fast and soon as I arrived home the bags are on the floor and he is in my arms. But OMG he loved reading books and he was obsessed with that fucking Kindle, if not that it is a hard back book. Lol in bed at night I would play fight that ass kindle out of his hand, then the next morning if he's up before me he is stuck on that electronic menace. Oh lawd that really pissed me off, but I loved seeing him settled and I knew he loved reading and I was happy that he was so used to me that he could be himself and I loved that. Grocery shopping was an adventure as my boy didn't eat nearly half the things I liked so it took ages on shopping trips, lol we would go shopoing at midnight in the 24hr supermarket and it wss so much fun messing around whilst debating the shopping list. But what lead me to break up with him was I felt he didn't have alot of life experience. He had never had his own place so always lived at home with his mum and teenage brothers, sometimes something would be going on with me but though he was so sweet to listen he didn't have the wisdom to support me. Sometimes I felt like a dad and a boyfriend. It made me feel more stressed out sometimes. We were engaged aswel, but then after awhile I decided to end it. We were both heart broken and I had not been in a relationship before so wasn't sure what to do with my concern except to break up. But now I am in a long distance relationship with añ amazing Russian lad, planning to take things further with him as we both really want to. Matt was 23 years old when we began dating, my current partner is 23 years old. Lol I think this is my second chance to get it right, and with Maxim my new babe I will. When I moved in with my now husband I didn't realise how much his mum did for him. So I pretty much had to take on everything in relation to around the house which was really frustrating and led to a lot of resentment. Thankfully we are still together however I no longer clean up after him and I am more relaxed about housework (as in I don't expect the house to be in perfect order 24/7) I definitely recommend talking about what responsibilities you are each prepared to take on, which in my opinion should be shared. OK, This was great. I love that image of you, Ben, coming downstairs and finding Jack downstairs chatting with Mum. Too Precious!! In our relationship, I am the messy one, and he is the Neat Freak. He has improved me greatly over the years, trust me! We were both in loveless relationships. Fell in love at work, of all places, and decided that this was it and we had to be together. We got a place. Set it up and I moved out of my place my wife and I shared, and he left his LTR for me and my son. The three of us all together. And to your point of being together a lot. We worked together and live together from day one. The jobs have changed over the years, but we are and were together about 95% of our days and would not have it any other way! It is more like 98% of the time together now that we are retired. Heaven.

After a couple had finished their very first date, it would be okay to wait for a week or two if the person wants to move in with the other in their house, that includes all their clothes, dishes and other materials/utensils and whatever else the person needs. But after the first date, it won't be healthy if the person decides to move in right away, wait a few days and see if now is the best time to move in. After moving in and getting used to know how the TV works or other things around the house, it would be nice if they meet their families and see if they are supportive of the relationship with the other person. After that, that's when their love story begins, but it's not all about hugs and kisses, it's also about building trust, honesty and compassion, because that's one of the stages of how relationships work (especially if they're in a gay interracial relationship). It would be beneficial to them if they keep building up courtesy and compassion for their partner and understanding their point of view and sharing their own opinions. P.S. - Ben, I saw your BBC London News story on Male Domestic Violence recently and I must say that if most men are physically abused, they need to be treated the same, just like women. They also need safe places to go if they are in danger. We don't often hear that men are abused by their partner or even if it's a rare topic to bring up because it's unheard of and we hear, almost all the time that women are abused and are still fighting for their rights, to this day, because a woman is capable of doing anything she wants, even if she has the competence and is not afraid to challenge anyone that stands in her way of getting what she wants. I did something very similar. Met, came home with me, moved in next day. It is was both one of the best things and one of the worse I've ever done. Best because we both had to work to make the relationship work. Living together is very different to dating because there's no escape. Worst because I was with someone who took selfish to a whole new level. Surprise, we didn't work out. Today, not sure that I ever want to live with anyone ever again. Very happy to be able to shut the front door and lock the world outside.

I stopped studying because of this, how can I miss this story. I was so curious from the beginning, after hear this, wow, now wonder it happens. It worked for you very well. In my case, sharing with another my space takes time, not much but time. I have a kid and I need to be assure that bringing a boyfriend in my life do not create any distress in his life or mine. So far, I only lived together with two partners, and things were nice. My pet peeve, messiness, I am messy, but conscious that after a hard day work, the house should look habitable. I've been with my boyfriend for almost 11 years. We'd 'met' over the phone. Him and my cousin are best friends. My cousin lives out of state and I was talking to him on the phone. He got to a gas station and said either you can talk to my friend or I'll put you on hold while I pump gas. We had a daughter a year later and he moved in with me 7 months after that. My boyfriend had a single dorm at his Fraternity house when we started dated in college and I feel like I basically moved in right away.
When I moved in with my now husband I didn't realise how much his mum did for him. So I pretty much had to take on everything in relation to around the house which was really frustrating and led to a lot of resentment. Thankfully we are still together however I no longer clean up after him and I am more relaxed about housework (as in I don't expect the house to be in perfect order 24/7) I definitely recommend talking about what responsibilities you are each prepared to take on, which in my opinion should be shared. My now husband and I moved in together about a year after we met through online dating bulletin board (no tinder or Grindr at that time). We chatted through emails for a few weeks before we went on our first date. It was 18 years ago.
OK, This was great. I love that image of you, Ben, coming downstairs and finding Jack downstairs chatting with Mum. Too Precious!! In our relationship, I am the messy one, and he is the Neat Freak. He has improved me greatly over the years, trust me! We were both in loveless relationships. Fell in love at work, of all places, and decided that this was it and we had to be together. We got a place. Set it up and I moved out of my place my wife and I shared, and he left his LTR for me and my son. The three of us all together. And to your point of being together a lot. We worked together and live together from day one. The jobs have changed over the years, but we are and were together about 95% of our days and would not have it any other way! It is more like 98% of the time together now that we are retired. Heaven.

Here's what I think about moving in after dating...
After a couple had finished their very first date, it would be okay to wait for a week or two if the person wants to move in with the other in their house, that includes all their clothes, dishes and other materials/utensils and whatever else the person needs. But after the first date, it won't be healthy if the person decides to move in right away, wait a few days and see if now is the best time to move in. After moving in and getting used to know how the TV works or other things around the house, it would be nice if they meet their families and see if they are supportive of the relationship with the other person. After that, that's when their love story begins, but it's not all about hugs and kisses, it's also about building trust, honesty and compassion, because that's one of the stages of how relationships work (especially if they're in a gay interracial relationship). It would be beneficial to them if they keep building up courtesy and compassion for their partner and understanding their point of view and sharing their own opinions.
P.S. - Ben, I saw your BBC London News story on Male Domestic Violence recently and I must say that if most men are physically abused, they need to be treated the same, just like women. They also need safe places to go if they are in danger. We don't often hear that men are abused by their partner or even if it's a rare topic to bring up because it's unheard of and we hear, almost all the time that women are abused and are still fighting for their rights, to this day, because a woman is capable of doing anything she wants, even if she has the competence and is not afraid to challenge anyone that stands in her way of getting what she wants.
Also, you look very bold, intrepid and confident in your business attire while you were reporting your news segment.

I did something very similar. Met, came home with me, moved in next day. It is was both one of the best things and one of the worse I've ever done. Best because we both had to work to make the relationship work. Living together is very different to dating because there's no escape. Worst because I was with someone who took selfish to a whole new level. Surprise, we didn't work out. Today, not sure that I ever want to live with anyone ever again. Very happy to be able to shut the front door and lock the world outside.

Thanks for finally doing this guys. I've been curious to know why the immediate move in happened. What you probably didn't say was, when you met.. you both just KNEW, not all similar stories end up being told years later with the couple still intact. Also, that pause when you realize you spend way too much time together, too cute.
My biggest pet peeve if I moved in with someone would be if they don't pick up after themselves or if they don't clean their utensils after eating/drinking...stuff like that just irks me to the core lol

I stopped studying because of this, how can I miss this story. I was so curious from the beginning, after hear this, wow, now wonder it happens. It worked for you very well. In my case, sharing with another my space takes time, not much but time. I have a kid and I need to be assure that bringing a boyfriend in my life do not create any distress in his life or mine. So far, I only lived together with two partners, and things were nice. My pet peeve, messiness, I am messy, but conscious that after a hard day work, the house should look habitable. A big hug guys, I enjoy this story time a lot, so back to my books.

I've been with my boyfriend for almost 11 years. We'd 'met' over the phone. Him and my cousin are best friends. My cousin lives out of state and I was talking to him on the phone. He got to a gas station and said either you can talk to my friend or I'll put you on hold while I pump gas. We had a daughter a year later and he moved in with me 7 months after that. We have a two year old too now. My biggest pet peeve is how he's always making us late! I love him tho 😆
