Well, since these guys don't have time to turn about and hunt for the pick they dropped, they'll often fit a device called a pick holder around their mic stands. It's just a quick way to have a spare pick on hand in case he the one he's using. If you watch some more live vids and look for it, you'll notice it in a lot of the them.
by "all the time" i meant only a lot of the time :p even people like mary j blige uses autotune live. theres absolutely nothing wrong with autotune. its just a little bit of a safety net. and just so you know, i have the same exact perspective as you :) besides the miscommunication. ha
