- James Barbour sings "Reflection" from the Broadway musical A TALE OF TWO CITIES. Words and Music by Jill Santoriello. Orchestration by Edward B. Kessel. Based on the novel by Charles Dickens.
Honestly one of the most underrated songs and performances ever
I just saw this show last week at Hale Theatre. What an amazing show! I snapped at another audience member when they started comparing it to Les Mis. I kind of lost it for a second. " It's a totally different story from another classic novel!" I said. And it is a great show on it's own with no comparisons! But while I was watching this I kept thinking in my head this is the guys point of view of ON My Own. Why is it more satisfying to see a man suffer over a women then a women suffer over a man? I know because we gals all become Ebonine and don't get the guy but Sydney is the real star of the show and all the gals pretend to be Lucy and we all love the idea of a heroic guy fantasizing about us!
How many times can a person watch this and always be caught and moved. It is so sad, moving, excellent. I have seen it maybe ten times so far. Thanks James.
"and yet that lovely face will haunt you..."
Innocent words. Heard by a youth. In 1972. And she did, for the rest of my life.
Blessed life. How different from when it was all figured out, ahead of time.
In 1970.
He plays this part so perfect. He is so so good.
So painfully good.
;-; Help me Sydney Carton tears my heart up
Me too!
Love him
James Barbour baritone God!
This an even better performance than on the Tale of Two Cities concert dvd. Where did you come by this footage? I would mortgage my soul for this video!
Song Thief I think this might be a publicity segment released by the people who originally did the show to get attention. There's also one for his other big solo, "I Can't Recall".
Thank you Sueb for telling me everything you know. The I Can't Recall is also out of this world! Love it. These are really well done for publicity segments.

where is this taken from, is there a dvd of the show besides the concert one?
Does the Concert DVD feature all the songs? and is it set up like a play or are they just in front of microphones?
The Concert DVD is missing a few songs : "The Trial" and "Everything Stays the Same" for instance. It is staged - no visible microphones ;-)
Talemusical1859 Thank you so much! I bought the DVD :) The Concert Edition is better than nothing.
