Saw this band live at the Crawfish Festival at the Sussex County Fairgrounds 5/31/2014 in Augusta, NJ and my life will not be the same! This band has all the right funk to just keep things going and going! Can't wait to see them again! I hope I can!
So very, VERY fine and FUNKY. Art Neville and George Porter are National Treasures, and they were in excellent form up in the High Rockies for NedFest. The funky Meters were on Fiyo, and it was an evening that I will never forget!!! Matthew from Salt Lake.
I love the way they can get that groove going thru a long intro, Poppa Funk (Rest in Peace Art) comes in with a shrill or two to enhance the funk, but only after it has been duly developed. Brian Stoltz is my favorite choice for guitar of all these years with his contributions and of course the great George Porter, Jr. on bass, vocals ("People Say"). I did not discover this band until 2006 the Jazz Festival. How happy I am to have had them as a favorite of mine. These musicians are like a live swarm of syncopation. When my son was 20 he went to visit his sister in NYC. He had the whole city to marvel and enjoy, but when he came back home all he cared about was how happy he was because he had bought, "Fiyo at the Fillmore". God Bless them all (whoops don't want to forget Russell Batiste, Jr., sorry Russ, lol).
