Old knowledge by now, I’m sure, as this looked like a Christmas party, but cut some 3/4 plywood squares about 12”x12”, or whatever will fit in a milk crate (for ease of transport) and use them as bases under your crank up feet. You can set up on any ground and the stands will be stable. Also, lightly grease the crank threads. It will make it much easier, and if you’re careful, not much greasier.

Can you run the pa and lights for the whole show?,im sorry if I missed that part. Looking forward to the next show that pops up on RUclips, see you guys then!☮️🤘🤘🤘
Wireless Workbench is a good tool for frequency coordination. I will again advocate for the Sound Bullet for your gig bag. I use mine every time I’m at FOH (but I know you can only do so many upgrades at a time $$).
Hey guys! Long time no comment, lol! Great upgrades too, I started using 3 cdls per side this summer as well, with lifts and It is so much better. Im getting great coverage with the 3 boxes per side when needed. Thanks for sharing your vid! Stay safe.
Almost! But we would need truss....I think that would be a hard sell, even for me. It's already too much work for two people...we would need more help!
You will not regret the speaker stands. Great choice, too. I got a version from the same place, but mine are generally for a truss. Two of my CDLs will fit using the pole mount on the CDL. But, I cannot put three on that way, as you know. Mine, however, have 4 equal length legs that work very well on non-flat ground. Sometimes the wheels are a few inches or more off the ground. You’ve had them several months now, so I would expect that you’re more familiar with them and they probably get used now more than you thought they would. If I had your type, I would be using them for all but short rooms and definitely outside all the time.
Thanks for the info...we thought we would be using them more outside this year, but between the gigs we have had or other constraints, we surprisingly, have not.
Good deal on the investment in new equipment. On the speaker stands, looking quickly at it, think about black 5 gallon buckets, inverted, and cut to fit over the corners where the traffic cones were. Additionally, see if they make black snow fence as a "skirt" between the cranks, or use webbing similar to cargo planes and car trunks. I am looking forward to the next one!
Try flying the subs. they don't add a curve to the array so won't stop you fitting 3 12s underneath. Also aligns the bass from all cabinets, saves space below and looks aesthetically nice
@@thesoundcouple I've taken much more gear than the client paid for or asked for a couple of times, purely for the purpose of testing different equipment and deployments. The key is to make sure the client knows not to expect the same system for the gig in the future.
Hey Bart Stacy this is Joseph from Los Angeles California on making the purchase to enhance your you also give me good ideas on doing my gear 😊 this is the first time that I saw the PreSonus 64 s in action love the new gear hope you have much much success with it this is how you do your business you have to reinvest in your business to go far and the sound couple is a good example of how to reinvest in yourself once again congratulations always 😊❤❤❤
Thank you Joseph for your comment. Audio production has an interesting perspective and unique pressures for reinvestment...we struggle with it because it doesn't seem to link to a direct return on that investment and charging more...in more ways, it's to stay relevant as more services and gear evolve into commodities. I remember charging extra for wireless mics, now people just expect them...and now do you really expect them to reimburse you for the battery? No, so we "invested" in rechargeable ones so we could stop buying 9 volts. Now we provide them to make our jobs easier and it's not about them....they can think that and that's ok.
As your wireless system grows you will need antenna distribution for your mics, antenna combiner for your IEMs and Shure Workbench with RF Venue. I Like the new toys.
I work conventions, and one of our venues closes the parking garage 11PM-8AM. This is the only free parking option for event staff; the hotel is valet and local parking lots all charge. We have to be careful to access everything we need from our cars (and do anything we need our cars for). We check-in on Thursday and leave Sunday or Monday (it's a Fri-Sun event in a convention center attached to a hotel). A few of us have been locked-in or out from time to time! Fortunately, we have been able to find help or do something alternative.
Got to say the speaker setup looked like you levelled up! Great job! To avoid the levelling jacks being extended too far and to dissipate the load look at some spreader boards under the jacks - you get some good plastic ones. The setup looked awesome with the twin subs.
Instead of using separate adapters for the mac I would recommend getting a multiport dongle like a 5 in 1 or 7 in 1 which has all the ports but it’s only one dongle rather than multiple. Great video guys loving the new gear!!
Thank you for the suggestion. We have since gone with the PreSonus recommended USB dongle which is the Apple certified Belkin model. Try to stick with recommendations even if they are not as convenient.
@@thesoundcouple honestly, keeping them separate isn't a bad idea.... if one dongle goes down, you're not completely hosed. what is it they say about eggs and baskets... lol
I leave the Ethernet and USB adapters connected to the cable, so I am really back to what I was doing before. The downside is if I don't have them conveniently located then I need to retrieve just those cables.@@dustinthiessen
Hey Bart and Stacy! Do you use shure wireless work bench, to coordinate your wireless freqs? I would highly suggest it if you don't use it. I would also strongly recommend getting crosby brand shackles for your rigging, do not put your trust in the "rigging" hardware from a bigbox store or hardware store. The quick link that is connected to your presonus rigging bar isn't rated for overhead lifting and should not be used in that situation. It would be better to link shackles "Crosby shackle" if you need length in the chain.
Nice upgrade!! The best thing we did was get a crank system for our lighting system. Easy to work with in the long run. Hopefully we can do the sound couple upgrade for our mains soon!😂
I just went back and looked at the rig,I think it looks pretty good,if people want to access these areas make them aware of the legs, secondly can the front legs, can they be shortened??,just to the maximum length you really need?,the Pecron I forgot the us is on 120 volts as in Australia we are on 240v which I guess we would get half the time I’m guessing??.✌️🤘🇺🇸🇦🇺
Since you now have a decent size constant curve array, with 3 cabinets, there's probably some options in the control software for your speakers to get the most out of them, usually a high shelf on the top speaker, and a bit of a high shelf down on the lowest speaker. Why? Because the most top speaker is the furthest away from the crowd, thus needing to throw farther, since high frequency's having the most trouble going far, a highshelf does usually help. And this yields for the bottom speaker aswell, but the exact opposite. Its the most close to the crowd, and the high will be really overwhelming. Worth a shot to play around with, if there's any possibility's software wise. Also try playing around with lowshelfing (as the 3 speakers coupled together creates alot of low(mid) build up. Can help, can destroy) Have a good day!
Wow! It's great to see your business growing like it is. I haven't yet taken the leap into flying towers for speakers, but it's certainly on my list for the future. I very recently attended Plasa in London (London is fairly local to me) and met some great people and got some more great ideas for upgrading my kit and making life easier. I don't know what shows happen on your side of the pond, or whether they would be local enough to you, but if you get a chance to go to one, I really think it's worth going.
Stacking antennas creates interference. You can try pointing the bottom antennas down and the might just fix your problem. Best thing to do is to get a antenna combiner. You might make it work with a passive combiner since iems only have a single antenna.
We since have separated all wireless and have been doing some frequency coordination. The band should invest in a combiner and get a paddle, but they haven't pulled the trigger yet.
@@thesoundcouple helicals work better for in ear monitors. I think they should be fine with just the combiner and a normal antenna. As long as they aren’t near other wireless devices.
It’s a pity you can’t mount them on top of the towers would save you some floor space A Roadcasess for your lighting would also cut down your setup/teardown time and lees on the back 👍 love the tech guys fantastic love your work 🎉
Thank you for your suggestion. Bottom line, there are more considerations we need to account for. We have a trailer, but it's expensive to pull and these out of town gigs really push what we can do with the production budgets we are working with. Sometimes we need to sacrifice a little more effort at the gig to even make the gig worth our effort.
Nice setup guys i have also line array stand but mine is so heavy ending not using but the sound quality of the speakers hits different when you it high the range will be extend it very handy when you have lots of crowd
Yes - we noticed that the system does come to life when they are on the stands. The sound good regardless, but it's like taking it up a notch when they are flown!
We are selective on which gigs we will use them on...basically, it's your point. We need to know when to bring them and if the budget/venue can account for them.
I love the gear reveal and the new mac I recommend a dongle that uses like one cable and it goes into a box where it has multi ports and the mic box is worth the investment also there’s other options out there for mic boxes like SKB, Gator, etc
We ultimately got the PreSonus approved Belkin USB to USB-C adapter....as much as it would be convenient, I don't think it would be supported for USB audio.
Maybe you can use the light sticks on the stands or rope lights if you are worried about people tripping I suggest using a rope light on them or the light sticks.
Can you use a nut driver on the levelling legs? So you don’t have to hand crank? Wow, so much empty space in the trailer. I assume the van was packed as usual :)
We learned that we need to be careful with those and ensure they are going straight down so better to brace the leg with your free arm...so no, we would say this is a process to take your time as less is more. Yes, the trailer holds the things we don't put into the van, but at the end of the night, we may end up putting it all in the trailer. It depends on how much time we have and how tired we are!
Love the new gear. One thing that makes me a little bit nervous is the black cover that Stacey made for your foh-case temperature-wise. Shouldn't the case be opened at the back to allow the air to come trough? (I hate my wordings, but i'm german but i hope you get the point :D )
Ahhh...good observation, but should be of little concern. The only thing that is being used int he rack is a switch and our router (and power conditioner). Very little heat is generated from the rack itself.
Hi guys. Just wondered if you can assemble your 3 CDL’s together with the lift plate on the ground then hook on to the stack lifter? That would save time rather than adding each CDL individually to the lifted ones.
A: We are really happy that we got the Pecron. Adds some piece of mind for some gigs. B: We use our "eyesite" as a reference to judge how high we need to go. With a point source array...pointing them in the direction you need to go is about as scientific as you can get. We use the power/line cables in back to guide them.
Good question...but don't see how that fits into the design of of the system...The fly brackets are not even designed to accommodate that. The shackles (I can't remember specifics) are rated to handle much more weight than we are lifting. In fact, we are only using a fraction of what this entire system is rated at for each component.
Not quite, the Pecron in this situation was powering just the gear at FOH...the console, computer and router. We have used it to power a portion of our PA at other gigs.
Not sure if anyone has asked about the person power unit. I was curious what items were you running off the unit? How long did you actually use it that night and how much charge was available at the end? I have a show coming up in a few weeks and may try to rent one to tryout instead of my louder 13KW generator. Which is very much over kill with my system.
Thank you for your question as I thought I we included that info, but we missed it. We can piece it back together and share more info. For the gig, we were powering the 64s/router/computer. It was on for approx 9 hours and was at 75% when done. At the next gig, we used it to power our rack mixer gear and 1sub/main. It was on for approx 7 hours and we started off at 75% and it was at 46% at the end of the night. We have used it to power backline/lights, and partial PA. In total, we use it for at least half if not more of our gigs in some capacity. It quickly and naturally became an important piece of gear for us in both piece of mind and utility....we would never NOT have one again for the type of gigs we do. For us, we really didn't know if this was tech hype or real...it's real. Good luck!
Im.sold. this is a game changer. I don't need to buy gasoline and do maintenance on a gas gen. And don't need to worry about having the 220V 50A. Thank you. Keep it up live the show
For us, it's in the category of "how did never not have this"! At a minimum, we bring it to every outdoor show. We use it for supplemental power, ceremonies, end of night lighting, etc. Stay tuned for our next video where we test to gain more faith in it. At this point, we don't have any concerns about using it with our equipment and you will see it more in future videos!
No...USB allows your computer to use the mixer as a sound interface. Also, UC Surface control from the computer will switch to USB from Ethernet (so from the computer to mixer, you don't need the computer connected to the network to control the mixer). The network portion is completely separate and all of your other devices connected to the network can still control the mixer!
The biggest consideration for us is the budget. If the budget supports the time/travel, we will venture from our home state of MN, to WI, ND, SD and IA. For a gig to be considered typical with standard rates, it needs to be under two hours of travel.
Hello Sound Couple.,here Jan from the Netherlands,i watch your video,s . Its a pitty that only the mixingdesk are avalible in Holland . The PA systems not . From a sound engineer to another ! You a very nice flightcase for your St/Li desk and you took it out of the case when you used it , your wife made a very nice drape for your rack why not for the deskflightcase so no one sees the cables. And second why not a trusssystem with backdrop to cover that nasty looking overhead door. And you can hang your backlights in it. And third make your own Iem rack D
You need to go back to and watch our Total Performance video....if we get truss, Stacy will quit! Seriously though, we are at our absolute limit with what two people can do with the time, budgets, and space. We would need a third person amongst other needs to support any more production.
@@thesoundcouplethanks for the reaction . If that matters you can collaberate with Light Couples who want to light and decoration . Maybe Stacy can focus on Sound. Afterall Your the Sound Couple 😅😅😅

I just picked up 4 of the CDL10-P hopefully theses are good.
Wish you the best!
Love the Mac upgrade. 12 years on your older one was fantastic! I love my 16inch Pro!
If you haven't heard of Open Core Legacy Patcher, it is a great effort to keep old Macs going strong!
Good suggestion! In an upcoming video we do debut our solution….
It may be possible..we feel more comfortable doing one at time for now.
I love the band's songs.
It certainly makes them fun to work with!
Massive upgrade 👍🏾
Thanks!
A, How do you like the Peceron? B, How do you guys aim the pa when hung ? (pointing forward, left right ect)
I predict that after a year or two sound couple will change their speakers to RCF!
They seem pretty attached to presonus 🤣
You never know!
Please inform yourself about wireless, intermodulation and what frequencies you can use...maybe invest in an RF Explorer for that
Stay tuned to future videos as you see our progression in RF! Thanks for the comment!
Maybe I missed it did you all run a redundant safety on your fly point? Lot of faith in one shackle.
Good question...but don't see how that fits into the design of of the system...The fly brackets are not even designed to accommodate that. The shackles (I can't remember specifics) are rated to handle much more weight than we are lifting. In fact, we are only using a fraction of what this entire system is rated at for each component.
and I thought my country Philippines has the early Christmas decors before Christmas right after I saw that big Christmas tree 😅
It's just around the corner! The pace of gigs and life cannot stay in sync with when our video drops....we would never sleep!
Very Cute of you guys love you
All the best to you in return!
Great investment! Ha! I’d like to see someone try to rest their drink on the speaker now! 8:08
It’s happened without it! That’s why we love them! ruclips.net/video/ZpK2naPWT2Y/видео.htmlsi=JnerM1DiIK2QrVXF
I'll be getting the size of stand just below those lifts.
Nice!
Som one needs to send them stikers this side up for them speakers 😂
It's pretty funny to look at this...but when you are in the moment, things like this happen!
@@thesoundcouple haha i dont know i cant aford line aray speakers :)
the equipment is changing level and weight
Wow new lifter
Got snow there already???
Don't say that! It's hot right now, but our videos are not realtime....we wouldn't have a life!
Just confirming that Battery system is powering your FOH Speakers and everything else?
Not quite, the Pecron in this situation was powering just the gear at FOH...the console, computer and router. We have used it to power a portion of our PA at other gigs.
Not sure if anyone has asked about the person power unit. I was curious what items were you running off the unit? How long did you actually use it that night and how much charge was available at the end? I have a show coming up in a few weeks and may try to rent one to tryout instead of my louder 13KW generator. Which is very much over kill with my system.
Percon
Thank you. Keep it up live the show
So how do you like the Pecron? I have a few shows coming up that would be perfect for.
Awesome, gonna pic one up got a show at Minnehaha Park this weekend it will work perfect. Thanks
@@terryvidal1588 Let us know how it goes Terry....hopefully you can get it on time!
Wow upgrade🎉🎉🎉
Always trying to improve!
I thought if you connect the computer to the board via usb and run uc surface on the computer it no longer lets you use it on the iPad?
No...USB allows your computer to use the mixer as a sound interface. Also, UC Surface control from the computer will switch to USB from Ethernet (so from the computer to mixer, you don't need the computer connected to the network to control the mixer). The network portion is completely separate and all of your other devices connected to the network can still control the mixer!
I’m also a cdl user and was wondering with those lifts could you hang 4 per side. It looks like 3 is almost touching the back.
Yes....we would say that 3 is the limit for portable use on a lift stand. Install is where those numbers could increase.
@@thesoundcouple ok thanks. Would probably only use 4 when I’m hanging from a stage.
How far do you travel for your shows?
The biggest consideration for us is the budget. If the budget supports the time/travel, we will venture from our home state of MN, to WI, ND, SD and IA. For a gig to be considered typical with standard rates, it needs to be under two hours of travel.
What specific pecron did you get?
We use the Pecron E3300.
And third make your own Iem rack
D
You need to go back to and watch our Total Performance video....if we get truss, Stacy will quit! Seriously though, we are at our absolute limit with what two people can do with the time, budgets, and space. We would need a third person amongst other needs to support any more production.
@@thesoundcouplethanks for the reaction . If that matters you can collaberate with Light Couples who want to light and decoration . Maybe Stacy can focus on Sound. Afterall Your the Sound Couple 😅😅😅
Do you know anyone? LOL!@@janassink9118
Not in America , my connections don,t reach that far , if i had connections in the states i would pay you a visit😅😅😅
Hi Bart& Tracey, i have a question . How did you become involved with Presonus, did you test other audiogear or was it love at first Sight?
these are great lifts, we kinda joke about them calling them widow makers as they are absolutely terrible when having to ramp in and out of trucks.
Thank you for saying that! As we rewatched us getting them out of the trailer we were surprised with how clunky they are in getting them in and out!
@@thesoundcouple meant to also suggest using a cinch strap attached to bumpers to relieve cable strain.
❤
Thanks!
What model of Pecron?
We have the E3000 model.
Hey Sound Couple. I would be very interested in talking with you about the Pecron. I have a few questions about its application and power consumption. If you would be willing to email or even talk about please let me know. I have a unique application I would like to discuss
Hi Frank. Feel free to drop us an e-mail: soundcouple@comcast.net

Christmas trees already?
Not quite yet! This was a gig back in February.
i thought y’all were going to “retire” in a few years?
It hasn't been a few years quite yet...you won't be getting rid of us anytime soon!
Wireless Workbench
YeeAAP...we are on it!

February!?!?!
Isn’t it nice to know we have plenty of material? Videos take a lot of time to make as our time allows.
