@@groovyhoomi Hmm... It's a relatively close cover of Trentemøller's remix version of what else is there except of course for the instrumentation. And they don't hide this. The original is from 2005, this Gaudino song is from 2013. If you see similarities in the music, which I have a hard time to find, then it's more like Gaudino being "inspired" by Trentemøller. If it's the instrumentation that makes you think they are similar, well, Meute's instrumentation is rather not that surprising by now :-)
@@rstcologne @Richard Stevens: Hmm, Maybe you want to have a better research before that claim ;-) But just for your Info: "Destination Calabria" is a song by Italian producer Alex Gaudino, with vocals by Crystal Waters. It is the first single released from his debut album My Destination. The track is a mashup, taking the instrumental from Rune's "Calabria" and the vocals from Alex Gaudino's and Crystal Waters' "Destination Unknown", both originally released in 2003. It was produced with the help of Maurizio Nari and Ronnie Milani (Nari & Milani), matching the saxophone hook/riff from "Calabria" to Crystal Waters' voice. "Destination Calabria" was released on 4 December 2006 as a 12 inch single by Italian label Rise Records, and as a CD single, on 19 March 2007, by British label Data Records. It originally charted in Australia in February 2004 peaking at number 98 under the title "Destination Unknown"[2] before being re-released as "Destination Calabria" and reaching number three in 2007. The song was also successful in several other countries, including Belgium, France, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
have seen them 3 times on 3 different stages: - really small festival stage (it seems they even did not fit on the stage together, it was kinda magical... "zauberwaldästhetik") - hall concert at a local skate park (best of all, they interacted with the crowd, unbelievable) - main festival stage (i was tottaly high in a huge group of people dancing in the evening... crazy feeling) and i can tell you this: every concert was wonderful. the stage doesnt matter. just try to see them somehow
It seems to me that there is a new genre is constantly growing out from the soil. There is a lots of great examples using horns for contemporary music (Leo P is already mentioned, but he's not alone), not reciting classics or repeating the old military marches for horsemen. It appears to me as a constant trend, and I named it Nu Brass, just for myself. Meute is one, major flagship of this phenomena. Does anyone have the same feeling?
Definitely. I like the name too. It inspired me and my band to start a similar project aswell. Another very interesting phenomenon is how this genre went full circle. First there were electronic "instruments" like drun samplers mimicking real sounds. The way these devices worked created new genres. Now bands like Meute recreate those sounds with real instruments. Yet again creating a new sound/genre.
Been going on for a while right? I think Hot 8 Brass band & Hypnotic Brass band started doing hiphop covers more than 10 years ago. Bands like Meute or Brass Rave Unit started doing this for dance classics in more recent years. I like the Nu Brass term though, according to EveryNoise.com this does not excist yet
This interpretation is simply tremendous. It feels like electronic music, indeed it works better than many DJs. Like spending your life searching for El Dorado, and stumbling across Shangri-La. Reminds me of the best parts of marching band and jazz band. I was given just one wish, and this was the result.
Amazing. Have just forwarded to my two northern girls having a break in Benidorm. I lived in Spain back in the day. Wish I was with my girls; sending them tunes and vibes. They love a groove and are top girls. 🙌🙌💜❤️💜
@@acjazz01 I did see it but that was my issue as well. I think Trentemoller shoupd be mentioned cause his remix has nothing really far from the original Royksopp track, ending up with something totally different. oh, after watching it a couple times I realized that sound of the horns kinda matching the actual car horn sounds, and this is so awesomely following along song theme! What a masterpiece!
Love love love this band!!!! Was so looking forward to your Chicago visit, guys whatever you do stay safe and stay together and wherever you get to the U.S. I will be here with a growing list of new fans. Peace, love and may your God go with you!!!
