    I needed this when I was younger. Being too short is a huge reason for why I quit playing.

      Being short may have kept you out of the NHL path but there are many other leagues you could play in

    I've never seen the dynamic VH, thats awesome. Also a 5'8 goalie. Great to see.

    Thanks for posting this.
    I made this exact dynamic save last week.
    Im an older, shorter goalie (5'9) who had to learn all this RVH, butter fly slide for the first time in my early 30s 😅 that didnt exist when I was previously playing.
    I get caught too much in the RVH getting stuck in my post when the puck gets played out

    man great to see. i was 5'7 when i played. only made it to a few games of JRB. seems like he will take your advice and listen unlike that Trav4oilers clown.

    I like that dynamic VH. I always feel locked in when I do it. My least favorite tool in my box. I’m surprised you didn’t talk more about depth. Would also love to hear more about Nick’s off ice training and how he builds the strength to develop his explosive attacks.

    The chest looks like it blocks so much head control, dude is crazy fluid but I'm assuming if that's his normal set up those cheater and puffed out chestie definitely stop him from seeing the puck when it's off angle.

    • @FutureProGoaltending
      @FutureProGoaltending  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think it would be called as illegal in a NA pro league as there are cheater blocks under the floaters.

    Great video, thank you. One question is why such a large size Chest/Arm Protector? It stifles the goalie's movements.

      Smaller goalies often try to look bigger in the net

      @@FutureProGoaltending Thank you. I think a goalie needs to be able to utilise the strengths of being that tall and not think of himself as a small goalie. You have to learn to be big in your thinking and perfect your skating technique - speed, speed and speed again. Move more on your feet. The problem with all goalies right now is the automaticity of going butterfly on over-the-shoulder shots. This is a faulty skill that is laid down from childhood - a lot of slides and butterflies.

      It is human nature. People wear lifts in their footwear to appear taller. It generates big emotions to be unfairly judged by your height in sports, life and dating apps…but it exists.

      @FutureProGoaltending thanks any tips on how to butterfly? My knees tend to go under me when I butterfly and my pads are loose

    • @FutureProGoaltending
      @FutureProGoaltending  9 месяцев назад

      @@booman3138 to increase your pad flare in the butterfly here is an intial prescription.
      A) throw your pads on in front of the TV when you watch your next NHL game. Get down in the butterfly and increase flare until it gets to the farthest you can flare with light pressure. Gradually push the flare wider and hold for a stoppage of play.
      So, of course of a period you would do flare holds a half dozen times.
      2) do static stretches that work on internal hip rotation. Just google internal hip rotation stretches.
      If you do these two things your butterfly flare will increase dramatically in a month

    As someone who also occasionally cheats with an extremely early paddle down as he does here at 15:28 , I can assure you 100% that you would have beaten him with any type of deke blocker side!

    The dynamic VH looks interesting, I'd love to try it out a bit more. Just a few questions though.
    1. If the player chose to jam near post would it just transition into a different save selection, ex regular VH or RVH?
    2. What situation would this be best utilized in?

    • @FutureProGoaltending
      @FutureProGoaltending  9 месяцев назад +1

      1. The near post is well sealed here if they try to jam it.
      2. Any low walk where the guy may want to try to cut back across would work well for this

      Found myself trying to keep my skates at the top of the crease and was a wall...
      As soon asi backed up just a few inches shots snuck by and deflected in.

      He added in cheater blocks on his floaters if you freeze frame the opening interview at certain points, you can see them. Obviously wouldn’t be permitted in NHL but perhaps as a 5’8” goalie it may help create the impression of more net coverage.

      Crazy incredible odds become infinitesimal if you don’t get to 6’.
      Height aside, more people won lotteries in the USA than new goalies made the NHL last year.
