How to do a factory reset an Android tablet when your start up screen is hanging. Some methods show how to reset from the operating system but in this instance you cannot get to the software it just shows the android screen. We will then have to get to the boot screen, not all tablets will give you a menu screen in boot mode, so once it is here simply allow it to reboot itself and your android tablet should now start up with factory default settings, simply reinstall your apps, and I am assuming you have stored your data on a cloud or an sd card

Ever since the Android 5.0 update my tablet has been acting up.i did have the problem where the clock ran slow,and about once a week it freezes for a few minutes then reboots itself.my older brother said the only way to fix the clock was to factory reset. just this morning my tablet froze up and stayed like that for about 6-7 hours.this fixed it,and the clock,and i still have all my apps! thank you!

This method worked for me, thank you. I bought a tablet for my sister for Christmas, but when she unwrapped it, it was stuck on the "Android" loading screen. Initially when I checked it before wrapping, it worked fine. I think this glitch happened because I pressed "Shut down" via the tablet's options before wrapping it, so it wouldn't be on stand-by in the box. I'm not going to turn it off that way again, just in case I have to clear everything again. =\

He did. It doesn't work on a lot of tablets with proprietary firmware. You would know that if you weren't mentally deficient.

This worked for me
Connect the phone to a Wifi Network (preferably your Home network)
The next screen will ask you for the Google Account
Tap the text field in which the account should be inserted until the Keyboard comes up
Tap and hold the “@” character until a Settings menu pops up
Select Google Keyboard Settings
Tap on the 3 dots in the top part of the screen (or More depending on what Android OS you are running)
Select the Help&Feedback item and select any item in the list that will follow
Long press to select any text on this page and click on Websearch in the upper right corner
A search field will be shown (delete the text inside the search field)
Type Settings in the search field
Tap “About Phone” and tap 7 times on the Build Number to enable Developer Options
Return to the previous menu and open the Developer Option that just appeared
Allow OEM Unlocking and tap Back two times
Restart the device
Connect it to Wifi again
Notice how you won’t be prompted to log in the previous Google Account and instead the phone will ask you to ADD a new Google Account
What about the model that only have a reset button and a power button?

Just turn it off after follow next steps : 1 press volume up and down and holt them
2 press power button and holt it
when you see your android with a warning there just press power button and you will see Recovery mode were you will find "Factory reset" go to factory reset with volume down, press power button for selection, go down with volume - and for selection "yes" press volume up. Wait for restart and that`s it ;).

In my model you must choose on RECOVERY MENU "WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET"

1. Download and Open "Android Multi Tool" From Here : www.mediafire.com/?5hj3wm4bsk9hx9b
2. Connect Tab to PC with USB Cable.
a."SwitchOn" The Tab "Install Drivers From 'TAB_Android_usb_driver' Folder".
3. "Switch Off" the Tab
4. Again "SwitchOn" The Tab wait for B/W 'ANDROID' Logo.
5. Goto "Android Multi Tool" Press 5 from the Keypad and click 'ENTER' button.
6. tab Data/Wiped Done. Disconnect Tab from PC.
7. Wait for tab to Switch ON. Enjoy

Important clue, thank you. Some exceptions depending on the make and model can occur. On my Mediatek, had to hold volume as you indicate, then as you hold volume up, press the normal start button to get to the factory menu.

nvm waited the 2 minutes, earlier it was resetting itself but still locked up. Now it's staying on the hard reset screen when I try it
it's so easy dude after that you just gotta hold the power button once again and just tap on the vol. up button It takes you to the menu !!!

My tablet doesn't have a volume down or upp button. There is just a power on and a home button.
I just got both tablets in the mail today and when I use the browser to watch RUclips it keep saying on both of them "unfortunately, browser has stopped". I use both irulu and Google browser on both tabs but they say the same thing. How so? The game app has error loading. What I notice is that it will load the irulu store with ease and not drop but when I type in any other site that nonsense shows up on both screens. My daughters are highly upset at this point because these are their very first tablets purchased and they can't use it. What should I do?

Mine's an Allwinner A33 V140D quad core running droid 4.4.2 Kitkat.
How'd I bork it? I chose ART as the runtime environment (default is Davlik) and it wouldn't boot up.
But this technique brought up a selection menu and I opted for factory reset. Just have to reinstall the apps, but I have all APKs backed up.

Hey guys just did a hardware hard reset. Found a way for my a13 q88 which is the tech term name. In which i purchased from ebay as google android 4.0 A13 4 gig. Didn't even know it was so crazy having this tablet. The tablet works ok but it gets slow and the clogs with apps or music. A proper luncher might help that will be next. I had my kids downloading apps within voices such as ringtones and voices from games from movies in two weeks got soft bricked. I think this is what clogged it and soft brick (jams partially operating system). I was jammed with the Android front lock page and back to the Android logo. TO FORMAT AND FIX IT THAT MEANS LOSING EVERYTHING. >>>> I did this by HOLDING POWER BUTTON ON FIRST. No volume keys pressed at start up. When the logo came on. KEEP HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON and press rapidly the VOL up & Vol down back&forth. Make sure you got a battery charged. Meaning rapidly between them like on and off type of thing. The Android with the red question mark came on. I did this twice both times worked in mine. To get the menu. I played back and forth with the VOL up & VOL down. Bammm I had menu and android on one time. I did wipe/clean 3 times like older android phones, but when I wiped cache it just rebooted. WOW Fixed Like new my princess hugged and kissed daddy :D Good Luck
