Just bought my ten acre parcel in Rye Tx. Getting started doing the off grid deal and discovered your channel. Great stuff. Thanks for the encouragement.
Amazing. Loving the technical explanations of each step. The detail is greatly appreciated. I will be watching many more of your videos for these reasons.
I am building a green house for my father in law, using old wood and sheeting I had from a lean too. I couldn’t for the life of me decide on how to do the floor. But it’s gonna be pallets, thanks for the education
If you take a cheap bar of hand soap and rub your screw across it with the threads. The screw will go threw the wood much easier with out getting hot and squealing and braking off . So Saith The Rooster
I'm glad you like it! There's a story behind the cat but I'll leave it be for now. Let's just say there was some amount of robbery involved LOL but not on our end
Your giving me ideas for closing in my carport doing the framing with pallets then putting up a vapor barrier lathe and then stucco to paint. Later on I could foam or fiberglass insulate and then stucco inside as well
I'm glad to hear it! - That's really the whole point of our channel, to encourage other 'financially challenged' people to be creative and grab Life by the horns! (Not that you necessarily are one of those people) As for insulation on our particular pallet House... I could only afford the thinnest foam board they make, but over top of that I'm going to put furring strips. And that is what I'll put my house wrap on. - the idea is that if our 'financial situation' improves.. I can always remove the house wrap and fill that Gap with another piece of foam board before reattaching the house wrap and then apply our siding to those furring strips.
At least you probably understand the dimensions involved LOL. - because obviously six double stack pillars under a 10x10 building just isn't enough block! LOL
From designing/building houses for 45 years..... not that much. I could offer some tips on putting fasteners in wood but this guy is doing fine. Not sure I would do two floors with this method but it really could be pretty stout structurally. I may build a pallet deck for a cabin if I can find any decent examples nearby....
Those walls are not strong, I was hoping to see how the pallets would be reinforced, there is a joint in the middle with little making it rigid except two 2 X 4's with are roughly 4' on center. Lots of wood but a relatively week structure.
pallets are abundant in my city (on CG free ALL THE TIME) but lumber is shit out the ass expensive these days...and i'm tired of spending money on this capitalist hellscape when there's these materials here for free! already talked to my local hardware and they said any pallets left out by the gate can be picked up for free. so....guess i'm finally gonna finish that dog house and put up a privacy wall for my patio. I'm thinking of doing pallet and COB since that works real well here in the rainy PNW. in fact OREGON COB style of building was founded in the 90s here in oregon.
Nice! Yeah it's the same up here with us, we asked around and a tire shop said we could have all we wanted to. ..... I always say the same thing, they're going to have to find somebody else to bend over... Because I'm not paying these prices!
I personally like the explanation of what Josh is doing...in my opinion he is putting everything in layman's terms for us to understand why he is doing it this way
The amount of planning involved in this is incredible. I love watching these build videos.
You're not wrong, this is probably the most complicated thing I've ever built!
It will be worth it when you are living mortgage free in a sturdy house.
Tough old root taking notes from Barren County Kentucky .
Bros talking with a cat on his shoulder while building a house, Guy has Jack Sparrow vibes
Big shout out from Northern New Hampshire Appalachian Mountains

I appreciate it!
Half of the explanations are a hedge against being called crazy LOL
Love the progress Josh. Cant wait to see the tower home come to completion. Happy New Year and stay safe!
We'll do our best!
Never would know bradpitt will teach me how to build a house

You are very much welcome! They are surprisingly sturdy!

Looking great, Josh! I'm truly enjoying watching this entire process! Love your cat, too! Happy New Year to you and your sweet family!
I'm glad you like it!

Looks absolutely fantastic ❤️😁🌹
that looks amazing! I love what you are doing!

Happy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉 another great video thanks 😊
Same to you!
yay!!! here we go!
Josh you got the pronouncement of my name spot on....thanks
Slow and steady wins the race!
The way I see it there's a hundred ways it could go wrong and only one it can go right.
I love the cat. We have a few that are colored/marked like her.
Amazing ❤❤❤
I understand man I built a chicken brooder house out pallets 3 wide 4 long 2 high its awesome keep up the good work
A man should build a home for his family. That is what God intended.
That cat...
Is pallet wood treated for termites typically? Is it treated wood?
i think using a normal hand saw would make things easier :D
People are always surprised by my pull saw as it cuts like butter for even hard woods just mind the nails
😂 from building houses for 20 years, ya so much wrong but this is pretty cool
At least you probably understand the dimensions involved LOL.

be helpful and give some corrections then

You need to build a regular house.

11:45 typical cat! will literally put themselves in paths of hazard to get your attention
Did he really say the cat's name is quiff??
Lol, it's actually Queeg!
A little less talk, a lot more getting the walls up.
Where in gods name are you finding oak pallets? All the businesses around me are using thin pine bastards!
They came from a milk bottling facility I believe. We had a guy deliver 70 of them to us for a good deal.
@@SteepintheWoods I'll keep an eye out. Thanks for the info!
who on earth makes pallets out of oak ?

We get things shipped on oak pallets all the time.
@@ericarnaud7983 Yes, people who think they are rare must not deal with them much.
I like your work but need less talking just my opinion
Lol, thats just not possible. lol

Seriously wayy too much yapping. Good concept but my goodness…
I'm trying to watch, but you talk all the time, less talk , more build
I like it, just never call it "off grid"
