That feeling of shock and awe at the scope of the game that I felt opening the world map after getting to the Siofra River in Elden Ring for the first time and realizing it was an entirely new, fully-built, underground area in this already massive open-world game reminded me of a very distinct similar experience from my childhood. It was the same feeling I got when I beat the Elite Four in Pokemon Gen 2 back in like 5th grade, and then suddenly they put me on a ship, I opened the map, and it's the literal *entire* Kanto region. Epic moments man.
Great analogy man, completely agree 👍. As a long time Fromsoft/Soulsborne fan, it was the equivalent of Hyrule field in Ocarina of time again for me (showing my age) 🙌
Yeah, there's no greater gaming surprise-and I mean great in both the big and good ways-than finding out a game has significantly more to it than you expected. Like, I'm pretty sure that about 90% of the reason gaming seemed like it was better when you were a kid is because we didn't yet know what to expect from games back then, so were actually being surprised by games. Then we got more experience with games and learned how to pretty well guess what an entire game would overall be from about the first 5% of it and were never surprised again. Game design really needs to put more work into surprising players. Like, hiding parts of the world map entirely until the point where they're accessible, or changing the HUD as you progress so it doesn't even imply certain types of power-ups will be available eventually, that sort of thing. Otherwise it's "oh hey, I got a medallion from this dungeon and there's five more slots. I WONDER HOW MANY DUNGEONS THE GAME HAS."
Love this topic. Not recent by any means, but I doubt any moment will ever top the revelation of what “Would you kindly?” really meant. My jaw dropped. Literally.
@@Yu_K_wtfin the first bioshock you have this dude constantly telling you what your objective is and he always says would you kindly at the end of his request and when you get to the end of the game it turns out this dude was the like main antagonist acting as someone else and the character you play has imbedded in his subconscious that he will always do whatever you say as long as you say would you kindly do it’s just a big shock that this friend you’ve basically had throughout the game has actually manipulated you to do his dirty work. I guessed it within the first five minutes and ruined the surprise for myself. When he said it the second room time I said something is up, because the writers wouldn't make him say that twice that quickly.
My favorite “holy cow” moment is the Astray Maze from Control. The music, the chaotic nature of the titular Maze. How it all crescendos into this epic scene of hardcore rock and esoteric madness! Beautiful!!!
Yesssss, that and the platform mission in The Foundation DLC. But the whole game is a constant "holy cow" moment, from beginning to end. Probably my favorite modern game, but it's a tough choice.

Been playing the last few days after work cause I love remedy games. It's just a chore. Feels like I'm back at work. Well not really. My job is awesome.
Fun fact about the Stanley parable, the game asks you at the start of ultra deluxe if you've played the original. If you say no, the game will make you do more of the original endings before the new content door appears.
First thing I think of is god of war 2018 and the sneak peek of Thor. I got so hyped first time I saw it and I can’t believe we got to fulfill that this year with Ragnarok
@Matt Cy I'm not saying it wasn't wild... but in comparison to what was actually delivered, I'm trying to avoid spoilers, it's just not as holy shit as some other moments. Thor, it's just like you know he's coming, so it just doesn't hit quite the same. Kind of like what falcon says about batman appearing.
I finished Plague Tale Requiem just yesterday and even the chapter title King Hugo popping up felt so sinister. It was already a pretty sad game, but turning into a giant plague sphere that instantly destroyed a city felt like something out of Akira.
The ending made me feel so empty… I was like wtf! I really expected something totally different. The writers were like let us make you totally feel for these people and then ended it so abruptly, like they still have a few chapters left but decided to cut a ton of story.
A Plague Tale Requiem was one of my favorites of 2022. A lot of the time it felt like Aliens with rats, but there’s a lot more to it. And it has one of the saddest endings in a video game.
I’d also argue that prey 2016 could be in this list when you first shatter the looking glass at the beginning of the game. That for me is one of the biggest shocks I’ve ever had playing any game in recent memory
On Elden Ring I was in the swamp for the first time and seen what looked like guards with a witch tied to a steak, I turned towards them and a dragon landed skidding through everyone triggering a boss fight. Absolutely blew my mind
Tbh, when you talked about Elden Ring and that there is no other game that does it, I had the same feeling when I first entered the Blackreach in Skyrim. I had no idea there is anything like that and just thought it another one of those small cave dungeons, but suddenly it opened into this amazing and very deadly place with glowing mushrooms and stuff.
I'm glad Signalis (9:29) made it to a gameranx list. To me, the most holy s*** thing about this game was that it summoned memories and vibes (insanely great ones) from Another World / Out Of This World, but in a darker and horrifying set. Especially, when I think about it, due to the artistic/graphical path the developers took about the use of (barely-polished) polygons : in the 90s game from Eric Chahi, it was a technical limitation of the era rigs ; in Signalis, it was an absolute choice. One of the 2022 GOTY, in my list.
I know Gameranx has several narators; Falcon is my favorite. He's just so relaxed...almost sounds like stream of thought commentary. Yeah, I know he's got to work from a script, maybe just an outline so he's sure to hit the important points. Yet, relaxed enough as if you're sitting next to him, while he plays, and he's just saying aloud what he' thinking.
Cried at the end of Plague Tale: Requiem. It went from a hopeful story of siblings, to some sections that felt like Arya and the Hound and then sudden genre shift to a xenomorph hive. I played High on Life and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It felt like OG Rachet and Clank.
This is my favorite gaming channel hands down. Just wanted to give you guys props on all of the high quality content. I haven't even played any of the games on this list but I enjoyed the vid nonetheless. Keep it up!
Tunic was definitely my favorite. It's been a long while when a game made me feel like a kid again in just learning about all the secrets that's been there the whole time, i just didn't know it yet.
Finding the Siofra River was such an amazing moment in Elden Ring. Like most people, I thought I had stumbled across a cavern or mini dungeon and then I saw the night sky and was absolutely in awe. I'm nowhere near finished with Elden Ring and want the experience to last as long as possible. It's such a beautiful, incredible game.
I wish I would've taken it more slowly when I played, I still did everything but I spent like 5 days straight just no lifing it. It's my all time favorite game, I've beat it like 8 times, 100% achievements
I'll also add the whole Crater section in GOW Ragnarok. Every time I thought I was close to finishing it, it kept opening up more sections, and each section more jaw dropping than the last. It was an entire worth of game content just hidden away behind a seemingly ordinary side quest.
Yeah, if only the whole game was as great as Area Zero. Not that it is bad. But the end of the game was just what they should have been doing with the series all these years.
Sonic Frontiers was surprising for having a final boss that felt like it was from another game series entirely, nevermind the fact it became a shoot-em-up.
The Elden Ring elevator was the biggest trip for me because I was also running from a giant bear lol my heart was pounding and I thought of the elevator as a safe haven, the view was even more astounding because of the break it gave me lol
I think there are several bigger holy shot moments in Elden Ring, like getting kidnapped by the Abductor Virgins and waking up in Volcano Manor, seeing Crumling Farum Azula for the first time (it’s a fucking city in the sky with dragons and tornados!!!) Rykard’s phase 2 cutscene (now THAT was a holy shit moment), Maliketh’s second phase cutscene (and EPIC moveset), seeing Leyendell and the Erdtree up close for the first time, seeing the Elden Beast for the first time plus its beautiful otherworldly cutscene, Godfrey’s second phase, Godrick’s second phase cutscene, the Fire Giant’s second phase cutscene, fighting Radahn with like 6 summons, the Placidussax boss fight, the Fortissax boss fight, seeing the Erdtree on fire, discovering the Roundtable Hold in Leyendell, discovering the hidden passage in Volcano Manor and entering into the prison village, Lansseax’s opening attack during your first encounter, seeing the Altus Plateau, crossing the giant bridge on the Mountaintops of Giants, Discovering the Haligtree, Malenia’s lotus bloom thing, discovering and exploring the sewer tunnels under Leyendell, climbing Mt. Gelmir and finding the Fallingstar Beast in the crater atop the mountain, Rykard’s boss room, Maliketh’s boss room, Mohg’s cutscene, finding the lake of rot, fighting Astel, seeing Leyendell covered in ash, finding the three fingers, the Chaos Flame ending… good God, I could go on. Siofra River well is just the tip of the iceberg. Elden Ring is one holy shit moment after the other. What an incredible game.
I like the Witness surprise where the puzzles are everywhere. It becomes obvious early on but the expanse of all the potential puzzles is a revelation. Even the cloud positions in a stock looking skybox is a puzzle.
Nice to have Gotham Knights in here. I feel like it’s come and gone unfortunately but I highly enjoyed it even tho I got the ending spoiled but playing it was a different experience entirely anyways.

My favorite Holy Sh*t moment from God of War Ragnarok was going on this little side quest, and ending up finding the Crater, a GIGANTIC new area absolutely stuffed with fun things to do.
I got one "Holy Sh*t" moment you guys and probably at lot of people missed out. Control(2019). When you get the Levitation power. If you played the game you know what i'm talking about. That one part where you get on that room that is like a spiral circle and you fly your way throught it The whole Maze section is awesome a great one. Control got like 20 "Holy crap" moments. PLAY CONTROL PLEASE
Glad to see Tunic on this list and so high too. For me the first wtf moment was when I first got deep underground and saw the...processing plant. Discovering that everything in this game, even the sound design around normal functions like saving or teleporting have a deeper meaning was amazing.
Signalis false ending and subsequent revelations is really trippy. Glad to see this Indy game make it on the list and hope more people play it. Spark the Electric Jester 3 bonus is mind blowing and existential crisis ensuing 😂.
The fight with DragonLord Placidussax has that one animation where he summons bunch of lightnings followed by a big one that covers most of arena and it was spectacular to look at🔥
Thank you Gameranx For more amazing content Everyday I always look forward to watching the next daily video We love and appreciate your hard work! Falcon always hitting these videos flawlessly.
A plague tale: Requiem was a tough thing to swallow. As with Last of Us 2 it didn't come as a surprise that it ended like that, but the way it ended ... man that was a gut punch that you kinda had to make the conscious decision to do it. I mean he was annoying at times in the first game, but the little guy grows on you.
I nearly dropped a brick when I fought the hidden Dark Souls boss in Kirby. Also when I explored Area Zero in Pokémon Scarlet/Violet for the first time, the deeper you go the more… wrong everything becomes; all culminating with that final fight where everything you thought you knew in traditional Pokémon storytelling is challenged or thrown straight out the window.
Few of my "OMFG" moments in gaming history. 1) The Last Of Us Pat 2 - Joel dying and then playing as Abby. 2) Metal Gear Solid 1 - liquid Is your brother (clone) and the Psycho Mantis boss where you have to change the controller port to beat him. 3) Metal Gear Solid 2 - swit Hong to Raiden and having to fight like, 10 Metal Gear Rey's! 4) Arkham Knight was Robin! 5) The force Unleashed - using the force to pull down a Star Destroyer 😮
The Elden Ring elevator thing was *definitely* a holy shit moment for me; going down to find myself in a huge area that made me feel like I was not *underground* , but on a small rock in *space* (all the stars all around me helped with that). Holy shit was *definitely* how I was reacting to that!
for Signalis, the ''fake ending'' whatever button you click, even quit, doesnt actually quit the game. I was very confused the first time because i clicked quit and it booted me in again, but thing have changed. I was amazed by how much more content there was after.
For me the most holy shit moment of all times will always be the plottwist reveal of B.R.A.I.D, where game reverses itself and shows you are the evil guy trying to kidnap the princess ( you play the reverse of that initially showing you are the guy rescuing the princess from the evil knight, knight which is actually saving the princess from you in the original)
As far as ER goes, I loved that underground. If they're gonna make a nook or a corner then I'm gonna explore it. Just finished my first TW2 playthru'. Gonna do Triss now. Then onto my first ever TW3 playthru ^^^^
This has got to be the best gaming Channel out there because when I started watching it I didn't know any of the games that were mentioned but because of falcons great humor and sarcasm and Jake baldinos enthusiasm I managed to stick around around and learn many things about the gaming world but I just wish that I could actually play some of the great games that are always mentioned
It's a long shot, but I thought about a suggestion for you guys last night, if you can handle/find it. 10 games that had good karma/morally grey systems. =P Good ones I can think of, is like infamous and Fallout New Vegas.
Thank you for the Bayonetta shout out. Yea the game has mixed reviews and feelings, I still believe that alot of those are exaggerated to a certain degree. But thanks anyways, cause I do believe that it genuinely a good game, just the story is kinda hit and miss in some areas.
I quite literally had to pause at high on life and get the keycard because I did not know and I'm now reinstalling tunic 😂 you guys are amazing, thanks 👍😁
Discovering what seemed like another galaxy underground made my mind run wild the first time I saw it. Elden ring satisfied my need to adventure in ways no other game has
My opinion on The Last of Us has changed in recent year but goddammit. I will NEVER forget the shock I felt after *that scene with Henry* It was froze me for a solid minute.
Kinda saw the Plague Tale Requiem ending coming......well not to that extent but let's face it what option was there? The bit after the credits is interesting...seems to suggest a sequel of sorts. But I never tire of saying this...it's a great game....easily makes my top 5.
Edit: I see you put the name of the games in a comment. This works fine! :) ---- Had to skip High On Life's entry hehe. A quick suggestion. Would you pause a little more after saying the name of the game? I physically did not have enough time to pick up my phone and pause the video before you said human settlement or whatever the word used was. Trying to forget 😅 No hate or anything, but like waiting another one to three seconds would work well. Great vid :)
Next to movies, series, comics, and mangas I still have some games on my to do, high on life and still GoWR 😢😅 but I couldn’t watch those parts, I skipped fast mane ! 😂 Thanks anyway for the Vid, those game related comps are super binge-worthy ! 🎉
First thing I thought of was the elevator in elden ring… still one of my favorite moments in games in general. Another one is the whole professor reveal in scarlet/violet. I was like “oh shiiiiiit” 😂

Nice to have Gotham Knights in here. I feel like it’s come and gone unfortunately but I highly enjoyed it even tho I got the ending spoiled but playing it was a different experience entirely anyways.
Gotham Knights is such a slept on game can't wait for 4 player co-op that's when the game will make a comeback.
The game is shit either way
I recommend you reconsider your objectively wrong opinion about this garbage. Delusional that you are even thinking this game was worth anyone's time.
@@danafarr4289 Said no one ever. Leave that pile of dog blood vomit in 2022's dumpster fire and forget about it where it belongs. The only people who genuinely liked this game suffered from Stockholm syndrome and a brain hemorrhage.
@@moshymosh I never even played it bought it and left it in his plastic casing I know this game will never be shit but it feels good to think it will make a comeback.
You guys are doing great with the content! I swear I get on RUclips to take a dump and I leave the bathroom watching your videos for like 30 more minutes at least😂🙌🏻
I'm emotionally stunted as hell but the ending to Plague Tale almost got me man
My favorite Holy Sh*t moment from God of War Ragnarok was going on this little side quest, and ending up finding the Crater, a GIGANTIC new area absolutely stuffed with fun things to do.
I got one "Holy Sh*t" moment you guys and probably at lot of people missed out.
Control(2019). When you get the Levitation power. If you played the game you know what i'm talking about. That one part where you get on that room that is like a spiral circle and you fly your way throught it
The whole Maze section is awesome a great one.
Control got like 20 "Holy crap" moments. PLAY CONTROL PLEASE
I may add... fighting Tomassi a 2nd time. I remember not expecting him to be like that
All of that and the platform mission in The Foundation DLC too. The whole game is one surprise after another, absolutely love it!
My favourite HOLY SH!T moment was the music scene in Control, that was epic
👌👍🏼
The first ride on a Sunwing in HFW was one of my top moments
The orchestra fight was my favorite boss in Bayonetta. I was totally not expecting that tbh. Oh and the kaiju fights..... Perfection. 😂
Definitely do more videos like this! And the Easter Egg Ones are great too!
More to come!
The fight with DragonLord Placidussax has that one animation where he summons bunch of lightnings followed by a big one that covers most of arena and it was spectacular to look at🔥
FF7, that Aerith scene!! Nothing else even matters on this list
"He is a rat boi, he can control...the rats"
Best quality of videos on RUclips by far
The cuphead video seems to have color fringing like it was coming off a CRT.
Going retro- because I go back!…. The first time the T-Rex appears on Tomb Raider the original. Running around screaming….😂
I think the number one of “Holy Shit” moment of 2022 is when Thor “kills” you and then relieve you after

Your videos are always something I look forward to everyday!
Glad you like them!
This man just said that Limgrave sets your expectations "kinda low." That was actually the most mind-blowing thing in this video.
Having to fight the Tree Spirit Guardian 17X in Elden Ring is the true holy s*it moment
“You don’t have to know you just have to accept it” I like that explanation 😂
That whole open world map under the actual open world map in elden ring was truly mind blowing of course, Just not gonna lie, LOL
Nice "I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream" reference! 😁
Imo, I great moment for me, was seeing the Super Sonic boss fights in Sonic Frontiers, like the first part with Giganto.
It was so epic.
👍🏼
I'm definitely digging High On Life. It's a roller coaster of laughs. 🤣😂🤣😂
Thank you Gameranx For more amazing content Everyday I always look forward to watching the next daily video We love and appreciate your hard work! Falcon always hitting these videos flawlessly.
Glad you enjoy it!
@@gameranxTV please do a reaction or review on The Last of Us tv series When it comes out! We'll love you forever.

I watched this ten times, and I can confirm that this is a certified hood classic!
*1 minutes old video*
Me: doubt
@@user-km8nw8tt7i - No. ☝️🤓
I have watched more than 20 videos and only now I realized there are no ads in this cahnnel🙄, great!!!
The Elden Ring elevator thing was *definitely* a holy shit moment for me; going down to find myself in a huge area that made me feel like I was not *underground* , but on a small rock in *space* (all the stars all around me helped with that). Holy shit was *definitely* how I was reacting to that!
I was kinda surprised by the Elden Ring one. No wonder why it got game of the year award.

for Signalis, the ''fake ending'' whatever button you click, even quit, doesnt actually quit the game. I was very confused the first time because i clicked quit and it booted me in again, but thing have changed. I was amazed by how much more content there was after.

This is the best gaming channel on youtube
Respect for Falcon saying to hell with the new YT regulations on cursing
I'm doing my NG+ run on GoWR, and I gotta say, playing as Atreus was a lot of fun. I have no issue with how long you play as him.
Yeah, heavy agree on this one. The Twist was completely something you cant see, and on top of that the execution worked with the gameplay perfectly.
I heard that Bayonetta is insane... but this clip completely sold me on the game lol
Ghost of Tsushima when you first unlock the ghost stance
Good thing you added a different #1 because that Kratos one suuucked 😂
God of war ragnarok has a bunch of holy s*** moments
the fact that General Radahn's meteor entrance from the second half of his fight isn't here is insane to me
As far as ER goes, I loved that underground. If they're gonna make a nook or a corner then I'm gonna explore it. Just finished my first TW2 playthru'. Gonna do Triss now. Then onto my first ever TW3 playthru ^^^^
The batman boss fight demands perfect dodging to the T , I was channeling my inner ultra instinct after 4 attempts 😅😅
😅
This has got to be the best gaming Channel out there because when I started watching it I didn't know any of the games that were mentioned but because of falcons great humor and sarcasm and Jake baldinos enthusiasm I managed to stick around around and learn many things about the gaming world but I just wish that I could actually play some of the great games that are always mentioned
Maybe it was obvious to others but the end of act 1 of returnal really got me good

It's a long shot, but I thought about a suggestion for you guys last night, if you can handle/find it.
10 games that had good karma/morally grey systems. =P
Good ones I can think of, is like infamous and Fallout New Vegas.
Thanks for your suggestion
Thanks for answering
I can't wait for the First "Top Strange Gaming Stories" of 2023!!
Thank you for the Bayonetta shout out. Yea the game has mixed reviews and feelings, I still believe that alot of those are exaggerated to a certain degree. But thanks anyways, cause I do believe that it genuinely a good game, just the story is kinda hit and miss in some areas.
No doubt!
I quite literally had to pause at high on life and get the keycard because I did not know and I'm now reinstalling tunic 😂 you guys are amazing, thanks 👍😁
The ending of DarkcPictures: Little Hope
My favorite content creator! Thank you for putting this stuff out!!
Discovering what seemed like another galaxy underground made my mind run wild the first time I saw it. Elden ring satisfied my need to adventure in ways no other game has
They put Killer Mike and El-P in the clip... Hell yea 👉🤛 Run the Jewels 🤘
At any point in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is a holy shit moment. That game has one of the best stories in video games I've seen!
it was such a great game
I have no Mouth but I must Scream was genuinely one of the most disturbing works of fiction i've ever experienced.

Had to skip High On Life's entry hehe.
A quick suggestion. Would you pause a little more after saying the name of the game? I physically did not have enough time to pick up my phone and pause the video before you said human settlement or whatever the word used was. Trying to forget 😅
No hate or anything, but like waiting another one to three seconds would work well.
Great vid :)
Ahh Bayonetta 3! Probably the most fun I’ve had with a character action game! Good list as usual :D
Next to movies, series, comics, and mangas I still have some games on my to do, high on life and still GoWR 😢😅 but I couldn’t watch those parts, I skipped fast mane ! 😂
Thanks anyway for the Vid, those game related comps are super binge-worthy ! 🎉
Bayonetta 3 is awesome!
First thing I thought of was the elevator in elden ring… still one of my favorite moments in games in general.
Another one is the whole professor reveal in scarlet/violet. I was like “oh shiiiiiit” 😂

What about (Elden Ring spoilers) fighting Rykard was while hard and everything it was such a spectacle.
That GOW surprise was dope.
When the game announced "Stanley Parable 2", it hit hard knowing that the whole Ultra Deluxe was a guise to hide the fact it was actually a Stanley Parable 2. Maybe that's weird that it hit different after that moment, but it did for me.
Thanks for the video Falcon! :)
