what is the BHN of the metal flight they just formed? Looks like Mild Steel BHN 250. I need it to form an 3/4 inch thick with a BHN of 470 to 36" pitch. What cha think.

Hello Bobby,
The Brinell Hardness of Mild Steel is actually 120-130 it is the yield strength the is 250mpa. Forming a quench and tempered steel with a Brinell Hardness of 450 or so in 3/4" thick is ok as long as the ID of your helical screw fight is at least 1/3 the OD.
