This was a hilarious way to spend the morning while I wait for my husband to come home for Christmas morning! Thank you so much for all your videos, Elle. Happy Holidays everyone.
aaaah that ending made me cry. it's my first christmas without someone i'm grieving and...it's rough lmao i couldn't stop crying leading up to today but just gotta keep trucking. thank you for another fun video!
I’m so sorry. I’m glad you’re letting yourself cry-grieving is a difficult process, and it comes out in so many ways. Make sure to cut yourself some slack 💗💗💗
I'm in this topic right now as well😊 f/f though 😋 so far so good, specially I'll be gone for Christmas - sweet and kind story🥰 male interest is from this perfect bunch you talked about😂
Your observation with In a Holidaze lol that’s because you read so much fantasy that you need that “why” and How explained . I get it 😂. With these romances it just is what it is and you have to not think too deeply
I loved kiss her once for me 😭. Edit: I'm so happy you loved It as well! I'm brazilian and it's so rare for sapphic books to be translated here, so I was SO glad that this one did! It's one of my all time favorites, especially because I relate to the main character so much. We both worked in animation and, at the time, were working someplace else, plus we're autistic (yes, in my mind, and in my autistic friends as well, she is lol)
Aww, that’s lovely! I’ve noticed a pretty big lack of sapphic romances in general (though admittedly I’m not extremely familiar with the genre, so that might be on me), and this one was so fun. And yes, the main character and the things she has to overcome are definitely really relatable. I’m glad this was translated and made accessible for you!
I adored One Day in December but I wouldn’t call it a holiday romance. Never seen it recommended as such. Thanks for the video - reminded me to pick up a few I forgot about
I ended up discovering Christmas cozy mysteries this year. I'm kind of afraid to try holiday romance books but a couple of these sounded interesting. I might give them a try. Hope you are enjoying your Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
@@ebnovelsI'm really into the Nine Lives Magic cozy mystery series by Danielle Garrett. There is a book in the series set during Christmas called Yuletide Yowl (each book's title is cat themed because of the talking cat familiar. I also enjoyed Peppermint Barked by Leslie Budewitz. In addition to the mystery, there were fun facts about Seattle strewn throughout. Those are the ones I've finished. I'm in the middle of a couple others of which I hope that none cause me to rant 😅
i dont often read romance books, holiday romances less so even, but Kiss Her Once For Me is one of my absolute fav romcom books. i could be bias bc the book came in my life at a time where i was also dealing with anxiety and the fear of failure and going to grad school for an art degree to get into animation, so having a book touch on the theme of "yea, failure is always a possibility, but you will always find a way to get back on your feet." like REALLY helped me. like i was talking about the book to my therapist. so yea, definitely biased, but it's great to find out im not the only one who really enjoyed the book!
Ah, it’s nice of you to try and reflect on why it personally connected with you, but also, we’re all biased in how we approach art! Some things really speak to us, and it’s so lovely that this book was able to do that for you 🥰🥰🥰
We read One Day in December for book club this month and it was the worst. I hated every moment of it and wish I did not finish it. It was so bad. I loved your rant and I absolutely agree with you
@@ebnovels Yesss, we all hated it. You're right, it wasn't so bad because I could rant about it with them. We were all side eyeing Jack and Laurie. Our host absolutely hated Jack. Her commentary was hilarious
I found In a Holidaze at the dollar store. I thought it was interesting, because ive never seen that trope in a contemporary romance before that book lol
Merry Christmas🌲, I have One Day in December in my TBR, but after your review I think I will not read it, I don't like cheating and lies in real life; i don't want to read about it in books, ❤
I think that’s one of my biggest problems with holiday romances and romance as a genre in general; a lot of the male love interests are just cardboard cutouts with basic characteristics that women like or even that are the opposite of a common problem women have in relationships (ie being good at domestic stuff or a good listener). It’s really interesting sociologically, but I’d rather have believable characters 😅
I suppose the realism of people’s hot mess behavior warrants some stars. It’s difficult for me to get over how frustrating they were though (obviously 😂)
Would love to see what you think about What the river knows by Isabel Ibañez. Your taste almost always matches mine. It's a mystery adventure with some historical fiction aspects and a slow burn romance and the book is mostly character driven
15:12 Chiming in to say that no! Not all Christina Lauren books are like that 😂 They are actually an author duo and many of their books are sooo much better. I loved The True Love Experiment, Love and Other Words, and The Unhoneymooners so much, just to name a few favorites.
I'm guilty to like "stupid" romances. Like the Bridgerton, Jenny Colgan holidays books.. It's make me giggles and laught and turn my brain off. After a fantasy series, thriller or memoire. It's a great palette cleanser. But I really need to be in the mood. Otherwise I took it too seriously and it's awful.
"OPEN 👏 YOUR 👏 MOUTH" LMFAO "this is actual delusion" HAHAHA "LIE FOR LONGER" "somehow this loser has game I GUESS" this video is killing me lol luna wants snackies!!!
I liked One Day in December so I am in the minority but that's ok. But then I am not a big fan of the Stormlight series after the last book so everyone is different. Not sure I will ever listen to it since I don't like how the people read them.... Have a harder time reading a book that large and I have issues with the size to begin with.
@ebnovels You're absolutely welcome! Seems a bit ridiculous, but it's actually very sweet and deep. I read it last year and I think I will re-read it soon!
Stupid main characters make it really hard to keep reading. Merry Christmas, Elliot to you and your family. Thanks for filling my time with interesting viewing
I read One Day in December back when I started reading again because it happened to be December and it seemed kind of popular back then. It was enraging, tbh 😂 hated it so much. I hated the characters, hated the drama, hated that they got together in the end. Awful “romance” book.
Damn, that quote on screen at 32:22... Girl, chill with the racism towards Scottish people ahahahahah Overall this girl sound insufferable 😅 And damn, Jack is horrible, wtf?? Adding this book to my "Nah" list lol

The green bandana suits Luna so well. I love how she's actually wearing it and not ripping it to shreds lol
Haha, she has a few toys she rips apart, but otherwise she’s pretty good about not destroying things 😂
Happy Holidays to you and Luna in her adorable bandana!!
Happy holidays to you as well!

@ebnovels Actually, more has been published in recent years! But we definitely need more hehe, especially adult ones (and young adult)
I was RIVETED throughout this entire video 😂 ty for ranting about these books
Hahaha, you’re very welcome 😂
I adored One Day in December but I wouldn’t call it a holiday romance. Never seen it recommended as such. Thanks for the video - reminded me to pick up a few I forgot about
It’s considered a holiday read on some lists I’ve seen 😊
@@ebnovels Ah that makes sense. I love this new series of you. Thank you!
Yeah, I don’t consider it a holiday romance either. I found it in the fiction section at the store. I love that book.

Oh, do you have any you’d recommend? :)

I would watch an entire video of Luna for like 6 hours 😂
Ohhh, how sweet. It would be a lot of her sleeping, since that’s most of what she does 🥰
i dont often read romance books, holiday romances less so even, but Kiss Her Once For Me is one of my absolute fav romcom books. i could be bias bc the book came in my life at a time where i was also dealing with anxiety and the fear of failure and going to grad school for an art degree to get into animation, so having a book touch on the theme of "yea, failure is always a possibility, but you will always find a way to get back on your feet." like REALLY helped me. like i was talking about the book to my therapist.

Oh my god this was so entertaining but really sad that it wasn’t a great reading month honestly one day in December just sounds really bad 😅
This was a fun vid. I don't read holiday romance novels but it is fun to hear toxic origin relationship stories.
Long Elliot video! YES!
If you ever do this again, I recommend Catherine Walsh's books. Snowed in is quite good. And Holiday Romance is cute as well.
Thank you for the suggestions! 😄
We read One Day in December for book club this month and it was the worst. I hated every moment of it and wish I did not finish it. It was so bad. I loved your rant and I absolutely agree with you
Hahaha, was that how everyone in your book club felt? I could see it being kinda fun if everyone joined in on being frustrated 😂
@@ebnovels Yesss, we all hated it. You're right, it wasn't so bad because I could rant about it with them. We were all side eyeing Jack and Laurie. Our host absolutely hated Jack. Her commentary was hilarious
I guess the one positive if it has one is that it promotes lots of discussion!
Omg.. I hated One Day in December and skimmed most of it. I agree with your rant lol
The characters are just such terrible people 😂
5 minutes in and this is already so funny! Love this video!
Wishing you all the best this holiday season! ❤
I had so much fun listening to your rant about A Winter in New York 😂 what a hot mess of a book lol
"Somehow this loser has game." 😂😂
I found In a Holidaze at the dollar store. I thought it was interesting, because ive never seen that trope in a contemporary romance before that book lol

Making characters too real can be a turn off for some people who expect too see certain requirements of the genre they read
I went and looked up the rating for One Day in December before you pulled it up. When I tell you I was APPALLED

I’ll keep that in mind-thank you for the heads up! 😄
I finished reading Wind and Truth about a week ago and I'm still not able to pick up another fantasy book 😅
Oh boy, I’m scared 😅😅😅
@ebnovels it's a lot to process and figure out how I feel 😅
I'm guilty to like "stupid" romances. Like the Bridgerton, Jenny Colgan holidays books.. It's make me giggles and laught and turn my brain off. After a fantasy series, thriller or memoire. That’s a really great way to approach different genres :)

"LIE FOR LONGER" "somehow this loser has game I GUESS"
this video is killing me lol
luna wants snackies!!!
Snackies are most of what she wants in life 😂
If it makes you feel any better, the book that you liked the most is the highest rated when comparing these books over on Storygraph.
Hahaha, I should’ve looked there! 😂
Holiday romance: The Hallmark movies of books.
at least Hallmark movies last only one and a half hours while these books can take days to finish especially it is so bad HAHAHA
Haha, some of them for sure. Some of these felt more like popular romcoms though
Also, I just noticed your username 🐺
I dnf'd One Day in December a couple years ago because of the cheating and horrible characters.
Haha, I almost dnf’d it as soon as it started 😅
oh THIS IS GONNA BE FUN
💜💜💜
Yes I can't do lies, as plot one day in December I hated it
I liked One Day in December so I am in the minority but that's ok. But then I am not a big fan of the Stormlight series after the last book so everyone is different. I’m currently feeling a little mixed on SA 5 so far. I’m not sure how I’ll feel by the end 😮
If you were randomly looking for another Christmas book, take a look at The Elven Days of Christmas by A.K. Caggiano 😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️
Thank you!!!
@ebnovels You're absolutely welcome! Seems a bit ridiculous, but it's actually very sweet and deep. I read it last year and I think I will re-read it soon!
Ugh!!! I read one day in december a couple of years ago. And I hate it all the more every time I think about the story line and the characters.
They’re truly some of the worst characters I’ve ever read about. Especially Jack 😂
My poor husband heard so much about this book while I was reading it 😂
I never ever want to read any of these books. 😅
I read One Day in December a couple of years ago and... it was just meh for me. I agree the main character is pretty dumb.
Damn, that quote on screen at 32:22... Girl, chill with the racism towards Scottish people ahahahahah Overall this girl sound insufferable 😅 And damn, Jack is horrible, wtf??
Adding this book to my "Nah" list lol
I know 😅 There were so many other comments like that throughout the book too (not about Scottish people, just annoying comments in general)
One day in December sounds insufferable.
