    This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

    Eh, EasyShopForEveryone sells similar three-tier stackable trays, but they also include a nice steel locking trivet that binds all the trays together and lifts them all out with the integrated wire handle on top. No extra tools required. $36 on Amazon at the time I bought it. They also sell a three-tier steamer kit with shallower trays to allow steam to pass over the contents, but the loading mechanism is more awkward than the dhokla steamer I got from Tabakh. That was $18.

    Thank you, very informative. I cook mostly Mexican or American dishes but I am trying to work up the courage to try me hand at a chicken curry. Only I have heard that Indian families blend spices to make their own "signature" curry. If that is true, than how is a dumb bachelor like me going to know if I got it right? (yes I tend to be a fanatic about following recipes lol)

    • @LifeStyleWithPri

      VINCE B. There are many different recipes and you can follow any one. India is a vast country as so there are many different versions of a curry. try few and see which ones you like.

      Water and Steel if u are doing mexican, you will be able to ace indian. just cut back on the cumin and replace it with coriander powder n turneric. no rocket science...sauteed onions and chopped or pureed tomatoes will make the curry.finish off with light sprinkle of store bought garam nasal (Indian all spice)

  • @Maertese
    @Maertese 6 лет назад

    Food doesn't cook when you stack the pots even without the lid on the top pot. The pots need a lot of holes which they don't have. I bought a set for the 3 qt. Instant Pot and had to return them.

    • @LifeStyleWithPri
      @LifeStyleWithPri  6 лет назад +1

      I haven't had problem with food not cooking. You need to make sure that all the different foods have similar cooking times. Also ensuring water content is correct. Sometimes its a trial and error. Sometimes too much water can also cause some food items like lentils to remain undercooked. Timing on IPs matter too. I also think the 3qt would be too small to do multi-pot cooking

    • @Maertese
      @Maertese 6 лет назад +1

      We cook a pot or fresh veges every night and use high pressure for 3 minutes. When cooking with the 2 tiered, holeless, 'India' pots for 9 minutes the food in the top uncovered pot was just done enough and the food in the lower pot was not cooked at all. What we currently do takes only 3 minutes for both the upper and lower sections. We use a fold out vege steamer basket and an steamer insert pot we found at Goodwill that we sit on top of the lower veges. For me, doing this type of cooking the pots are useless. I even drilled holes in the bottom pot but it didn't change a thing.

I have a stove top PC as well as an IP and have done it in both with great success. It can be a real time saver. But don't stress about it. You can use the IP without any of this swag!

      both will work fine for indian recipes. You can do everything in instant pot that you can do in stovetop pressure cooker plus so much more since the IP is also a slow cooker, yogurt maker etc. And you have a timer on the IP so you don't have to babysit the cooker.

      ONE IS ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKER , STOVE TOP IS A RANGE (GAS/ELECTRIC) : STOVE TOP PRESSURE COOKER IS MANUAL WHEREAS INSTANT PRESSURE COOKER IS MANAGED BY MICRO PROCESSOR. FRO STOVE TOP : YOU HAVE TO BE PRESENT IN THE KITCHEN , FOR ELECTRIC PRESSURE COOKER :YOU BE AWAY FROM THE KITCHEN.MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR WATTAGE OF E PRESSURE COOKER AND CONNECT THE INSTANT POT ON A DEDICATED LINE TO PREVENT TRIPPING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER. TOTAL AMOUNT AMP SHOULD BE WITHIN 15AMPS OUTLET (USA) . RESIDENTIAL CIRCUIT =20AMPS(Total load on the circuit should be within 20amps). say fridge is 6.5 amps + instant pot 1000watt(8.3 amps) = 14.8amps (
