Few Things There are 3 main causes of rape that I can think of: 1. Lack of Awareness 2. Mental Disease 3. Controlling Behavior Death Penalty, or severe Punishment is not the solution for rape. Firstly, like already mentioned on the video, Right to life is a fundamental right of all the people, and Nepal has ratified the 2nd optional protocol of the ICCPR without any reservation. On top of that, the poor criminal justice system and the poor investigation units are likely to convict many innocent people to death. Also let's look at the example of countries with a provision of death penalty for rapist vs countries with no provision of death penalty for rapist. Countries like India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq has the punishment of death penalty for rapist. Where as, the countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark does not. Looking at these countries, we can clearly see that sexual violence cannot be controlled by the severity of the sanctions but by raising awareness of the people. NOW the most annoying people are the people who blame the victims themselves for rape. "Because her shorts was too short" WTF!! Have you heard anyone say, "he got robbed because he was earning too much money. Who asked him too earn too much money? Earning too much money should be ban." This is what I exactly mean by lack of awareness. Stopping to blame the victims is the first thing we should do. We constantly hear parents ask their daughters not too wear clothes that are too tempting, or not too walk alone in dark. Where as, I have never heard any parents including my parents teach their sons to respect the consent of other people. Teaching about consent is something that must be prioritized both at school and in home.
How to minimize rape vanda? 1. Increase literacy 2. Education about sex, good touch, bad touch both for male and female from an early age in home and school then college and universities 3. Pros and cons after rape 4. Being responsible citizen 5. Implementation of proper law as soon as possible cuz this is a serious issue in today's context 6. Stability of constitution
I don't think rape (or anything for that matter) should be punishable by death. Imagine a situation where a person is wrongly accused for a crime and she is killed. A year after her death, it is found that someone else is guilty. Can the person wrongly accused be brought back to life? Until our social justice system is perfect (which it probably never will be), killing someone for a crime should not even be a question. Education is probably the best "punishment" that someone should get. Just keeping someone in prison is not really beneficial for the society. The question we need to ask is how jail changes people. In Nepal, people who go to jail spend their time doing mostly nothing. That does not ensure that she will be a changed person and won't commit crime after she's out. So, in order to make sure that people won't repeat their mistakes, jails and prisons must be more like schools than like cages.

Psychopaths sexually abusing girls/women or boys/men should not be tolerated and be caught and given a strict long and tougher sentence. There is no excuse in such a crime. Government should work harder to catch and convict those psychopaths on time so that they don't harm anymore people. Safety should be maintained by each individuals.

Rape is a crime PERIOD.. no one is at fault but the rapist. The culprit should be jailed and given severe punishment.
Few Things
There are 3 main causes of rape that I can think of:
1. Lack of Awareness
2. Mental Disease
3. Controlling Behavior
Death Penalty, or severe Punishment is not the solution for rape. Firstly, like already mentioned on the video, Right to life is a fundamental right of all the people, and Nepal has ratified the 2nd optional protocol of the ICCPR without any reservation. On top of that, the poor criminal justice system and the poor investigation units are likely to convict many innocent people to death.
Also let's look at the example of countries with a provision of death penalty for rapist vs countries with no provision of death penalty for rapist. Countries like India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq has the punishment of death penalty for rapist. Where as, the countries such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark does not. Looking at these countries, we can clearly see that sexual violence cannot be controlled by the severity of the sanctions but by raising awareness of the people.
NOW the most annoying people are the people who blame the victims themselves for rape. "Because her shorts was too short" WTF!! Have you heard anyone say, "he got robbed because he was earning too much money. Who asked him too earn too much money? Earning too much money should be ban." This is what I exactly mean by lack of awareness. Stopping to blame the victims is the first thing we should do.
We constantly hear parents ask their daughters not too wear clothes that are too tempting, or not too walk alone in dark. Where as, I have never heard any parents including my parents teach their sons to respect the consent of other people. Teaching about consent is something that must be prioritized both at school and in home.

I don't think rape (or anything for that matter) should be punishable by death. Imagine a situation where a person is wrongly accused for a crime and she is killed. A year after her death, it is found that someone else is guilty. Can the person wrongly accused be brought back to life?
Until our social justice system is perfect (which it probably never will be), killing someone for a crime should not even be a question.
Education is probably the best "punishment" that someone should get. Just keeping someone in prison is not really beneficial for the society. The question we need to ask is how jail changes people. In Nepal, people who go to jail spend their time doing mostly nothing. That does not ensure that she will be a changed person and won't commit crime after she's out. So, in order to make sure that people won't repeat their mistakes, jails and prisons must be more like schools than like cages.

Rape is a heinous crime and any form of punishment is not big enough. The victim suffers not just physical trauma but psychological trauma too. Physical trauma heals but the psychological trauma remains forever.. the perpetrator not just physically hurts the victim but BEYOND.. and this kind of act is unforgivable.
