I think this and the Star Wars chibi scale Mocs are some of my favorites. Speaking of chibi scale, I think it would be cool if you did a chibi scale AT-AT or Venator
I built this. It really is the best proper 1:40 ish scale CSM there is. I watched the video and built the entire thing in Studio. Then I started making changes. The connections for the main service module's curved sides was tricky to do virtually, and I figured would also be difficult in real bricks. I took a technique from the Saturn V set, and built up brackets off a center core to support the 8 segments of the service body. It's super sturdy now. Had to add a bunch of 2x3 slopes to the back of the segments to fill in gaps. I also made all the curved slops on the outside into 2x3 to rid the profile of the mis-matched curves. Then I added 4x5 stud rounded corners around the engine bell for the heat shield there. Inverting the studs was tricky. I also managed to put a 10 stud diameter dish under the Command module to have a sort of reentry heat shield. It's not perfect, but it's fun. The mating area of the service module was also cleaned up adding slopes and bricks and keeping the 3 stud dishes as H2 and O2 tanks. I also added some tanks to the Command module behind the instrument panel. I made instructions for it with all the changes from your original.
Could you send me the instructions please? A lot of people is asking me if I did instructions and part lists for this build. Don0t worry, I won't take credit for them.
@@hachiroku24 Yeah, I can do that. There's a lot different from your build, so folks may not get what they're expecting. This would be a great addition to the LEGO NASA sets. The only problem I'd have with this is with the LM -- they'd have to re-engineer it so the legs fold up under the lander for full realism... :-) OR you could design the SM with a blown out panel and make this a combined Apollo 13 Odyssey/Aquarius set

I’m watching this for some Inspiration, I’m going to put w working parachutes in a command module, I’m watching this so I know a good way to make it :) thanks
The sides cannot be mounted to the sides of the frame as shown, without great distortion of the bricks. Solution can be to have the nocks outside inside inside / inside inside inside / inside outside outside. This gives the side panels 2x 2 nocks to mount.
Another thing that cannot work is the height of 3 for every 3 compartments of the base frame. If you do that, the side walls will not go high enough to conceal the base of the command module. I advise 3 / 2 / 3 - so making the middle compartment only 2 high. Then turn the studs of the bottom and top frame outwards an all other inwards. This means the walls will mount twice 2 studs. This will also make the walls high enough to conceal the base of the command module. Mounting the model on top of the lander model is not so easy as replacing the top black round plate. Underneath it there is no hole. So it needs further adjustments to the top of the lander model. And it needs to be a stable modification, because the entire weight of this model puts force on that hole. I also recommend to mount the side walls first, together with the brackets of the stripe walls and the plate that holds those brackets together. In a last step the strips can be mounted and you can apply counter force with you finger through the top and bottom of the rocket.
This is a fantastic video showing how to build this amazing model and I am going to use studio 2.0 to replicate and order the parts. I haven't seen the poster comment so I am wondering if it is their work? I'd like to think he would help other Lego maniacs build this. If I get it done on studio 2.0, I will happily upload the file.
