Hey Bulu, The only trains that are somewhat OK & relatively clean are the recently launched Vande Bharat trains & Tejas trains. The older trains are 50 - 50. If you're lucky, you won't see any UFOs, if not, then you will. Agree completely, we pay so much, and basic hygiene can't be maintained! Harsh reality. Hope things improve sooner rather than later!!

I experienced exactly a similar experience when I was travelling from Mumbai to Kerala via Kochuveli Express in August this year .... so much so that we rechristened its name to "Cockroachuveli Express" out of sheer frustration.

I have seen people drinking and vomiting in the middle of the night and no one came to clean it all night, attender came saw, went back and slept off. morning at 8am it was cleaned, the person vomited on everyones luggage as well. nothing was done. I also saw the same attender selling cigarettes anddrinking with them. so decided never to travel in train.

Bulu Bhai recently in November I have done a trip to Delhi from Balasore with my family by train , had a nightmare of experience in the train due to the cleanliness issues . I have observed that the railways authorities doesn't take any serious steps towards cleanliness and also our indian citizens have very low to zero concern about it . When traveling from BLS to Delhi in Rajdhani in 2nd tier the washrooms were unclean , in one side washroom someone had spit gutkha and other washroom someone had pooped on side walls of commode and didn't even intended to clean it.

We are all set for our journey to Gaya via Patna on the Rajendra Nagar Terminal Weekly Express. Hoping and praying for a smooth experience-clean toilets (free from any unpleasant flooded surprises), minimal cockroach sightings (knowing zero is wishful thinking), well-behaved coach attendants, edible food from the pantry staff that’s at least good enough to satisfy hunger, and most importantly, the train running on time at every station. Fingers crossed for a good journey!

I am a regular traveler from Hyderabad to Bhubaneswar. Let me tell you, the railways is pathetic. Unhygienic to say the least. But also the cheapest mode of transport in the entire history.

But they were cleaning the coach frequently and toilet was frequently cleaning. But it was full of cockroach. We took banglore to Mumbai train and return. Now we realised that, hope we don't use train in our future. Itse very frustrating. We took even 2nd AC. Which is full of cockroach
Most of our people are also dirty, they will not take care of public property.. it’s everybody responsibility to keep public places or transport clean. One thing I’ve come to realise now is that the top 10% of the people who are financially rich don’t go for Govt.based services whether its food, education, transport, etc, unko kuch fark nahin padta.
