I share this post anywhere I see some people try to Pit OLD SCHOOL and NEW SCHOOL ;Actually theres is no such subdivision ,the reality is Efficient and Scientific Jiujitysu vs Acrobatic , speed , Physical Oriented SPORTIVE jiujitsu (which is not jiujitsu in reality) and the MARTIAL ART Jiujitsu . Thanks for sharing professor Thornton .

I think a good jiu-jitsu mindset demands that we keep an open mind to what might be unfamiliar, but that we also be skeptical until we see a concept proven at a high level. I am keeping an open mind by honestly trying these things and by being willing to watch however many parts are in this series, based on respect for Matt's teaching. However, I will be skeptical unless I see examples of this used in high level competition.
Here is my current take: I like that the connection/setting the table is sort of a "neutral" approach between keeping lots of space and trying to "loose pass" only with grips and speed, or conversely trying to utterly smash pass with max force and pressure. Those extremes tend to accentuate attribute-based skills. I think I've seen some of this applied by good BJJ players, but not as a full-on replacement for loose passing or pressure passing. In some ways, this looks a lot like "float passing" without the float, lol.

Such good stuff! My 10 yr old daughter & I really appreciate your approach. She’s been rolling for 5 months now & has really gotten A LOT of your concepts because you teach it so well. Thank you so much for sharing.

Not a million miles away from Damien Maia style passing with high hips, too high and out of reach a lot of the time for most guards. I think you would need solid basics and rocksteady base before trying this, not beginner stuff...I really like it, will have to practice. Thanks for the up

Man that's such a good point. You've ruined that entire demonstration with three words. "Will not work." Now that's efficiency.

find one example? filling space, then moving around their resistance to fill new space while improving your position, it is not some esoteric b.s.
