@dbmracing2019 It's really not hard to believe. People have forgotten how powerful the old L88 motors were for their time. My father worked on those motors in the Tonawanda Engine plant. I’m still skeptical of GM’s claims of zero lag with their anti lag system. I’m sure lag will be mitigated significantly but just don’t see there being literally no lag in any turbocharged application (without electrical components like the T hybrid system in the new 911 gts engine). Great video btw!
Good deep dive into the LT7. I thought I heard one of the engineers say that the crank casting was the same as the LT6, but is machined differently for clearance.
@@johnperkins6432 That’s correct. It’s also got machining for additional cooling/oiling as well. Insane the level of engineering that went into this monster
8:12 Right! those Head's must flow a lot of air.. And for GM to be using turbo's and 20lb's of boost, That to me means that 20lb's is making the same power as other cars using 40/50 lb's.. Remember Boost is the measure of how much air isn't making it through the heads and out the back of the car... And they lowered the compression to, That is one of the main reasons Mustang Tuner's love Gen 2 Coyote's, It's because the gen 1 and gen 2's have 11 to 1 compression and the gen 2's came with a better crank and beefier rod's among other parts vs the 12 to 1 on the 18 and up's.. The higher compression is great for NA but soon as you throw boost at a high compression car, depending on the amount of boost you kinda have a ticking time bomb on your hands. Depending on the amount of boost.. I am hearing this car is 9.5 to 1 just like the Shelby Predator motor's were... But just a heads up if you are boosting a car go for one that has less compression, for your sake....
