IMO, here's the elephant in the room. Disc golfers, in general, don't want to pay for ANYTHING. All of the courses must be free or the owners are ripping them off. $5 for a round anywhere is "elitist". Where else can you get some exercise, then smoke all the pot or drink all the beer you want. Maybe we should consider the fact that the property taxes alone, at least on the private side of things, ensures that at some point, free to play courses wiill go extinct...am I'm all for it! Pay to play will be the way foward and might put an end to 8 player groups (most high on something) on a Saturday morning. I even see church courses (there are many in my area) asking (not enforcing) players to sign in. Most don't, and at some point, that will change. The hobby (not sport) grew too fast and the existing shops and tourneys couldn't keep up. The worst that I've seen was a 9 hole course at an intermediate school where beer cans were everywhere and the PE class had to clean up before they could play. The PE teacher said that this reallm common and the district was probably going to close it down. I see trash in abundance at many courses now. I've been throwing since 1986 and much has changed, mainly for the worse. I say "shrink the hobby", then get the top pros together w/ the top brands and come up w/ a plan.

I'm one of the newer COVID players. I always wanted to try it, but never did until I couldn't do anything else. Anyway, DDs social media content is the reason I bag all Trilogy. Danny's tutorial video's, and Bobby's "Is this disc right for you?" videos were great and no other company was doing things like that. They also had the Squad, with challenges and perks for completing them. All that ended, and Trilogy went downhill. I wonder if all these changes are the reason why Jonathan isn't making many videos anymore for L64. He (and Johannes) are the last great things for Trilogy. If they go, I may switch to MVP or someone else.
I just hear entitlement on entitlement on entitlement. I'm not a business owner but i have to ask, why would you even want to with this kind of narrative?
Ya her part is why that move was just bad in retrospect. Ricky was worth the investment since he’s still a top 3 player, but $500K into somebody who hasn’t even returned $50.00 is just going to screw you over. Also, they had no way of foreseeing Tattar’s just utter dominance on the FPO scene, but this makes the Kona move even worse. All that money for the supposed next big FPO player and she is AWFUL while this other woman becomes the best in the world. Just an epic whiff
They had danny, bobby, and anthony. Those guys were a winning combo. If innova or discraft integrated them, they’d just pickup right where they left off.
I live in Topeka and was surrounded by dd stuff for years. I throw what I throw, I’m not a fan of any specific brand, but I can tell you that when they got sold everyone around here started switching to other brands. It’s also kind of depressing going to emporia now.
Instead of carrying the disc golf world down. Get back to your roots and lift everybody up around you. If you were a touring pro or are still a touring pro… don’t sign a shit contract that leads you nowhere. And if you sign a lucrative contract, put the fucking work in. If it’s your dream, follow it and make it happen. Geez. All I hear is complaining and backstabbing. We are a community. Without our community, we cannot build the sport. So many selfish people. And if your contract is trash, then don’t sign the fucking thing . Hold out or go get another job. You’re not to meet all that ends all right now. Covid took care of that. We all have our favorite players and plastics . If y’all can’t work together, we as a community go nowhere.
Elimination of "cash payments..." Not sure how paying extra CC fees helps there. Plus the PP, Venmo, Zelle and such all have fees too. Cash is clean and "untraceable." I never heard of laundering my electronic purchases..
ricky is so fun to watch, but never once have i watched him play and said “dang i might want a general”, every time i watch AB or GB im convinced i need to make an entire discmania or discraft bag, i just know i cant throw a general on every single hole with that much confidence lol
I think your missing the point, Drew is pointing out how unprofessional the decision to promote a bad cringy diss track and the immature young man that was attempting to rap by giving him a disc, sure they’re marketing on the drama but it’s not a good look, don’t think a move like that screams professionalism, so if they don’t care about good values kinda hints at desperation for a quick cash grab. On top of that they gave Gannon Eagle’s disc instead of his own, just seems like they’re after $ at any cost.
You can tell these stupid ass kids anything, bro. Drews not a killer on the course but hes made more money in life and in disc golf than anyone criticizing him in the comment section of a youtube video ever has. He would 10/10 beat any one of them by 15+ strokes on any championship level course. They just talk on the internet for the sake of doing it because they sure as hell arent doing anything else with their lives.
Well other news is that OTB is launching a store at Ale Discgolf Center in Sweden =) But hey i was never a fan of DD, but i do love L64 and Kastaplast. But then again im just grinding MA4/MA3 with an Open bag.. So i got some L64,Kastaplast,Discraft,DIscmania and MVP/Axiom
10-12 years ago, I was a huge fan of the new DD line and I still putt with a Judge and throw an Escape, but despite all of their corporate incompetence, I'm turned off because their whole brand is based on disc names that I find silly and somewhat abrasive. Really wish they had decided to pivot to a new name concept for all of the discs in their lineup. Who wants a Convict, Lock Up or General in their bag??? What's next, The peeping Tom? Sex Offender? Especially when L64 makes some great plastic!
I loved Danny too, however his videos on RUclips weren’t some money making thing. I do think if they made more instructional/form breakdown videos like that, people would flock to them. His departure wasn’t some knock on DD, dude just did the same job for like 5-7 years and eventually moved on to something else.
Sorry if this wad mentioned, about to watch the video.. DD has a FB page where they auction discs, seems like a desperate move. Aside from a few Innova molds, I throw Trilogy, and my fav driver is the DD Renegade special edition. It's discontinued and I manage to snatch the last 5 available in my region.
Tbf, all major brands have auction pages online. Even if it seems like a third party, the people behind the large sites are employees of said companies.
if folks are all about rules, enforce the 30 second and see how that shakes things up. have folks standing by with annoying alarms. respect one or all. have actual referees. that's what growing the sport means. 'twas ever thus.
Silas WHO???? the dude is literally a nobody and is acting like he is somebody that "deserves" to be respected and looked up to...... Drew is on point as always and is one of the only people out there that consistently just gives the truth without any sort of bias driving his content.
I wouldn't say it's dying, more like seeing a downturn after the huge spike during Covid. The industry was flooded with smaller startup companies and some of the larger ones have overstretched themselves.
DD turning a silly trend into a disc/money making opportunity is just the same ballpark as companies repacking discs with a new stamp for some tournament winner. It doesn’t signal financial trouble, just a business trying to make money. I like Drew, but he is completely wrong.
I still remember purchasing a mystery box from westside a few years ago on christmas only to find out that there was fine print and I was preordering a mystery box that I wouldnt receive for another 2 months. Lol I chewed out customer service and got 3 free discs out of it and its still screw them. Companies that do shady things deserve bad things to happen to them.
my question is, if HoD was already struggling, why the fuck would they buy Kastaplast and Discmania? makes absolute zero sense to spend a bunch of money acquiring brands when you dont have enough money to support the brands you already own.
Ummm, because if those other brands are selling discs, have major title winners, and could keep some income coming in to keep them afloat while they figure out how to fix their own problems, it's better than letting those other companies suck up all their potential profits, as competitors. 🤷♂ Maybe. Possibly.
@@shawnwhite1645 rule #1 in business is to not overextend yourself. DD have the same issue MVP used to…lamest looking discs I’ve ever seen. Just look at how their(mvp)numbers have grown since putting in more effort. It was as easy as that. I’d love to support Rick if the discs looked as good as Innova, MVP or Discraft
Ill tell what they can do, stop makin every disc some kind of special whatever and charging 25 to 35 bucks for em Putters now cost as much as drivers used to and drivers and mids and fuckin ridiculous
Ricky was a good investment though, it’s just overall a bad look because Kona’s part has literally returned nothing. They got too ahead of themselves and tried to snag the “next big FPO player” right before Tattar came onto the scene. Ricky was still the right move

You guys are going to start bleeding even more subscribers if you can't slow down on scandal and instead cover the joy and satisfaction and camaraderie that is at the heart of DiscGolf.
A precious commodity that is becoming more rare these days is coverage of anything of value without scandal.
Please recognize that you could be one of these rare commodities.
I could turn it around, recently saved an automotive component manufacturer 110 million… this would be a walk in the park.
This channel is insufferable
😂
I agree lol why do I watch every single video though 😂

BECAUSE NOTHING BETTER EXISTS 😭😭😭 Disc golf is so cooked.
What did Prodigy do to hurt you?
Disc golf is so poverty stricken. lol.
If only Drew could get this much attention on the course 🤣🤣🤣
I just hear entitlement on entitlement on entitlement. I'm not a business owner but i have to ask, why would you even want to with this kind of narrative?
I said this when they signed Kona. Worst move ever. She's 🗑️🗑️
@@danielpenrodii2389 They should have never let Hanley get away.
As someone whos played ddo on the am side i can say from my heart, that it cant go away soon enough.
Ricky is not leaving. Don't grab the click bait.
You can follow your dream, but it may not happen right away. Don’t force love upon anything. If you do, it’s probably shit.
Elimination of "cash payments..." Not sure how paying extra CC fees helps there. Plus the PP, Venmo, Zelle and such all have fees too. Cash is clean and "untraceable." I never heard of laundering my electronic purchases..
Did you see Ricky’s discs are 63% off on DD site?
I’m sorry, but the disc golf community primarily laughed at Silas’ middle school level rapping.
the fact that disc golfers thought that song was the song of the summer... Is the reason why this sport wont grow .......
Ricky doesn’t move plastic . Innova said that flat out not him and let him walk
bull💩......he moves as much as anyone
@@bobbyswain7049he doesnt tho. Its a measureable fact.
@ nope lol
Paul and Simon switching brands tripled the sales Ricky ever has with any company . Don’t get mad at facts .
@@chrism-zm8mr youre just talking and calling it fact
ricky is so fun to watch, but never once have i watched him play and said “dang i might want a general”, every time i watch AB or GB im convinced i need to make an entire discmania or discraft bag, i just know i cant throw a general on every single hole with that much confidence lol
Poor Jefferson doesn't know how to interpret a diss track 😭
That burning dog was 3 years ago 🤣🤣🤣
So current
Well other news is that OTB is launching a store at Ale Discgolf Center in Sweden =)
But hey i was never a fan of DD, but i do love L64 and Kastaplast.
But then again im just grinding MA4/MA3 with an Open bag.. So i got some L64,Kastaplast,Discraft,DIscmania and MVP/Axiom
Drew Gibson is really not smart
I like there disc from hod I been using the judge for the last 13 years but last year I got a bad Kristen tattar signature disc it was all bent
I used to work for a family own company. I will likely never do it again.
Drew is just sad..hating again on silas after silencing him on response to hate with good nature fun rap...drew must be strugling
I gave up on them when Danny left. He got me to buy a lot of DD discs. But the community is why I was there and it fell apart after he left....
I loved Danny too, however his videos on RUclips weren’t some money making thing. I do think if they made more instructional/form breakdown videos like that, people would flock to them. His departure wasn’t some knock on DD, dude just did the same job for like 5-7 years and eventually moved on to something else.
Drew ain’t wrong from a ROI perspective
Did you get helicopter stamped discs from Ricky n Kona? Sick Stamp.
On the Dynamic Disc Promo video from 2011, who is the woman beside Paige Pierce? I know just about everyone else but her. She looks so familiar.
Liz Lopez
Sorry if this wad mentioned, about to watch the video..
DD has a FB page where they auction discs, seems like a desperate move. Aside from a few Innova molds, I throw Trilogy, and my fav driver is the DD Renegade special edition. It's discontinued and I manage to snatch the last 5 available in my region.
Tbf, all major brands have auction pages online. Even if it seems like a third party, the people behind the large sites are employees of said companies.
I dont know anyone that throws DD. None of their discs catches my eye or too many of the same flight discs for me
if folks are all about rules, enforce the 30 second and see how that shakes things up. have folks standing by with annoying alarms. respect one or all. have actual referees. that's what growing the sport means. 'twas ever thus.
Silas WHO???? the dude is literally a nobody and is acting like he is somebody that "deserves" to be respected and looked up to...... Drew is on point as always and is one of the only people out there that consistently just gives the truth without any sort of bias driving his content.
Did they dub different audio over that Silas guy rapping? That’s mean. Made him sound like he’s not allowed drive himself places.
Of course I know the classic person who exaggerates. That’s why I watch these every week.
they just signed Parker
You missed the point drew was making. Of course.
disc golf is dying fast.
12 year player, course designer and builder here and im on the outs with dg bigtime. Money hungry caveman throwing plastic haha
I wouldn't say it's dying, more like seeing a downturn after the huge spike during Covid. The industry was flooded with smaller startup companies and some of the larger ones have overstretched themselves.
First time watching a video. You kinda sound like Canucks grow
DD turning a silly trend into a disc/money making opportunity is just the same ballpark as companies repacking discs with a new stamp for some tournament winner. It doesn’t signal financial trouble, just a business trying to make money. I like Drew, but he is completely wrong.
SockiBomb Slammer is money but I think other companies fill all the other spots better.
Drew is an idiot coming after Silas 😂 Silas’ contract was never about play. It started as a media contract.
Ever hear the saying "be careful what you wish for" ......we need capital investments guess what disc golf-------you got it now!
The moonshine Agent is fire!
I still remember purchasing a mystery box from westside a few years ago on christmas only to find out that there was fine print and I was preordering a mystery box that I wouldnt receive for another 2 months. Lol I chewed out customer service and got 3 free discs out of it and its still screw them.
Companies that do shady things deserve bad things to happen to them.
nothing shady about it. you just failed to read the item description.... that is on YOU. not them.
@orion7741 im not gonna argue with you.
my question is, if HoD was already struggling, why the fuck would they buy Kastaplast and Discmania? makes absolute zero sense to spend a bunch of money acquiring brands when you dont have enough money to support the brands you already own.
If the 3 brands they already own are struggling, adding on more costs (manufacturing, labor, player contracts) is only going to stretch the company even more thin. There’s a reason some businesses stop growing, because continuing to grow at all costs can destroy the business.
Now of course if every business had unlimited cash, I would agree with you; why not buy up all your competitors? But that’s a fantasy. These companies don’t have unlimited resources, you gotta have investors with some serious capital who are willing to lose money for years if you want to buy all your competitors. It’s a dangerous game, and a game that Dynamic should not be playing

i hope ricky goes to prodigy
DD have the same issue MVP used to…lamest looking discs I’ve ever seen. Just look at how their(mvp)numbers have grown since putting in more effort. It was as easy as that. I’d love to support Rick if the discs looked as good as Innova, MVP or Discraft
Ill tell what they can do, stop makin every disc some kind of special whatever and charging 25 to 35 bucks for em
Putters now cost as much as drivers used to and drivers and mids and fuckin ridiculous
Kona and Rock cost them. Period.
Ricky was a good investment though, it’s just overall a bad look because Kona’s part has literally returned nothing. They got too ahead of themselves and tried to snag the “next big FPO player” right before Tattar came onto the scene. Ricky was still the right move
I putt with Agents 😁
user name checks out
Agents are the best, I love the Trilogy Challenge run, need to get as many as I can....
@@prattacaster got one and 2 prototypes, none in premium plastics yet but I'd love some

Low blow - I like my Rangers Hockey Discs! Lol
Agent?! I never even heard of such a thing. I guess it just another super secret shit disc from dynamASStic?
Drew needs to stop bringing negative light to the sport when really the only way to grow it back is get more people playing. Make more fun content.
Is Drew going Kayfabe on us? It seems like fake buzz
😂😂 You always find a way to jab Drew
People, please be a bit less negative especially in your comments about Drew. He is a nice guy who says what he thinks. If you don't agree, please disagree respectfully.
LOL, no.

this is the dark side of growth, so sad. RIP Dynamic Discs, the REAL one.

Who cares
There’s too many pros imo. Also do cool graphics that people can buy on the regular. Get a kid in graphic design to do them for a hundred bucks. If he asks for more, get another kid to do it. Do some stamps with economic satire 🤷♂️ idk I feel like if you’re already on that type of level as a company, growing don’t seem too hard. Dude chillin in Florida should be doing the job of three people and saving 3 salaries a year that could go to players. People in upper management just don’t wanna work, problems start at the top. I’m sorry but there’s too many hippies in disc golf trying to do business when they have no business doing business. At the end of the day when that arm get ready to throw in the towel, ain’t nobody gonna take care of you but you. I hope some of my other favorite players be thinking the same. ❤
