Thanks for the breakdown and the wonderful information. I live in the midwest where mint is grown in large fields but not with alot of diversity. I have some peppermint plants growing, yet I wanted to get a variety of them and possibly get some small pots growing in the house or around the house to spruce things up. I mostly use my mint to add to my drinking water, and i found this video to help give a few ideas about the different types of mint available! Thanks so much.

I had orange mint, apple mint and chocolate mint. I think the orange mint has the strongest mint scent and is very fresh while mint chocolate is the softest, I can barely even smell it lol. My favorite is menthol mint because it has a cool taste. Second favorite is peppermint which is very comfortable on my stomach.
And your apple mint leaf. That's so big. So envy 🥰😍

Funny thing about chocolate mint is there is nothing to give it a chocolate scent or flavor, it's a trick of the mind. It was named chocolate mint because it smells and tastes like the mint blend used in a popular chocolate called "Andes Creme de Menthe Chocolate". I recommend trying the chocolate and the mint to compare.

The first video I saw on chocolate mint said it didnt have a chocolate scent or taste, so I thought,' why is it called chocolate mint then?' I bought some today and on tasting, immediately realised it must be the mint variety used in chocolates and peppermint creams, and mint ice-cream, because that is exactly what it tastes like. It has a very fresh mint taste. I am going to add it to my mugs of hot pure cacao, made with water and a tiny amount of sea salt and a dash of milk. Much more refreshing than making it with milk.

When I tasted it I noticed that the taste is potent (strong), and I realised I would need less of it than other mint varieties I know, to achieve a minty taste in my food or beverages- practical!

Hi Jason! I like to let patches of it grow out and flower for the honey bees. It makes gorgeous, unique bouquets for the kitchen table or as edible gifts! I also drink it either as hot tea or ferment it with other ingredients for kombucha.

@@Cart23787does your chocolate mint make seeds? I twice ordered seeds once from ebay and once from etsy and in both cases ended up with Catnip..
Made my online research and in some of them claims that chocolate mint makes no seeds and are futile..

I'm no expert, but I'm told that you should never have two mints too close. If they cross pollinate the new plants will almost always be bland.
