no it wasn't add context and this video looks like shit or we to believe hoyo made whole horror theme cast and story to cover for taking design from two characters, act like gurren lagann doesn't exist , and pink hair anime girls didn't exist
Anton and Sinsa are both just Kamina refences it's that simple. the factions in general all seem to be refences to different film/anime genres. The maids are classic horror films, the son's of croydon are old style anarchist biker films with a hint of mad max etc, H.A.N.D and the cops are typical classic action and crime thrillers etc etc... Belobog in general are Mecha and their ENTIRE story is a love letter to Gainax/Studio Trigger especially. I mean even if we put Anton aside for a second Koleda is a hot headed brash redhead with an eyepatch (sound like anyone?) one of the covers for the Belobog agent stories is even directly modelled after the poster for End Of Evangelion. the cutscene with Anton after you stop the rogue piledriver clearly wanted to just say "believe in the me who believes in you" directly.
A lot of Chinese companies do this sadly. They wear the influence practically on their sleeve, now this is not to excuse the actions of ZZZ but Alchemy Stars is drawing heavy influence from Studio Trigger Anime! Both are kinda guilty of the same thing themselves it's a big part of Chinese things period is nothing ever felt original. I feel like the separation for me is the execution of said characters in action rather than design. But even then... That repeats too sometimes.
Played both games and it's way more Gurren Lagaan (beat for beat). Ellen's design is way closer to something out Azur Lane (See Iron Blood faction with the color scheme, aesthetic, and so forth). Every faction is very directly referencing anime/manga/cartoons of the 90s/00s which other gachas have. AS is also not wholely original and should be noted that the team behind ZZZ does include talent from other games (one particular artist was easy to pin from Blue Archive). As for Sinsa, having played AS: while similar, everything there is so tropey from anime. Especially as Hoyoverse has never been shy about their origins (they literally called themselves Otakus from their conception). And unlike the vtuber space, gacha games yoink designs from one another so frequently that you're going to be wasting your breath (seriously I have seen designs bounce from Azur Lane to Blue Archive to Alchemy Stars to Hoyoverse and than to Kuro: these designs aren't going to be pinned). The issue really stems that AS also was on the decline in sales up to CN and has been stuck there. They're both businesses and AS also did itself no favors as they took forever to execute on feedback and talent from when Sinsa was added (1.0) have left. Again, there isn't much that can be done as ZZZ's designs on their own aren't what makes them stand out. It's the mix of the design, animation, and gameplay. So while Anton matches Sinsa, Anton will outlast Sinsa by virtue that he has a voice outside of Asia and is in a Hoyoverse title. And why nobody is talking about it is also due to the fact that AS global is virtually and snuffed out by so many other games. Again, ZZZ isn't the first, but AS also has been largely left to rot by numerous players. As much as Hoyo can be shitty, the fanbase also has better retention rate to support the game. I love AS designs, but it's gameplay just isn't going to appeal to those jumping into ZZZ. And the feedback for it was always met by small stuff up till it got a CN release, where there's a more steady playerbase and often where the focus is now.
These are all very valid points! I haven't personally played azur lane or blue archive so they definitely fall outside my knowledge base. I think you are absolutely right this is a much more prevalent problem then just ZZZ and AS and in many cases as gacha games as a genre churn out so many characters there are bound to be many many characters that fall similar to each other and for most of them I definitely willing to rule coincidence. That said with cases like Anton and sinsa while both definitely draw inspiration from guran lagan when comparing them to say kamina as opposed to each other while they share traits like cape/coat or baggy pants the actual silhouettes and palettes between them and kamina are different however between each other the shapes silhouettes and palettes are all very very close to each other which is what leads me to believe Anton very much was heavily referenced directly from sinsa. The other characters I compare are the same just not as intense as those two. Generally when this is done between designs inspiration takes several things from their points of reference as well as adding in new ideas. For designs that are similar by coincidence they don't usually share all 3 of details, silhouettes and palettes it's usually one maybe two that lead people to say they are similar. though of course, I'm sure there are cases out there of being almost completely identical out of pure coincidence though definitely rarer and likely for simpler designs. As for why I think it matters even if my voice won't change anything, generally when characters are copied so closely its from a studio that just wants to flip a dollar with little effort which is where my concern stems from in this example. While ZZZ isn't a game I'm personally invested in it shows concerning lack of care for its player base if they don't want to take the time and care in making good unique characters to support the game and as a player we shouldn't be satisfied with that imo. Overall I think there likely is very little that we as consumers can do and likely it won't change and who knows maybe it truly is all coincidence but I felt it was worth talking about regardless I guess.
@@TommiCerberus More likely a coincidence as much as I hate to say it. While very similar, the Belobog faction is so ham fisted with Gurren Lagaan references that they just barely avoided doing the "Who the hell do you think I am?" line with Koleda. It really isn't helped that I've played gachas since 2013 and such things aren't that uncommon. Especially when you take someone like Kamina as a basis. Sinsa and Anton overlap also stems from the fact that they're part of factions with heavy equipment with a Japanese twist. Though Ridesal in AS leans far more to cars and wasteland, whereas Belobog Construction leans into construction attire where baggy clothes are very normalized, especially in anime. That and their weapons also very different. And then comes the actual characters as this where the comparison really tells you Anton was just Kamina whereas Sinsa leans to a more overly protective brother who threatens the MC. Again, it's something to keep in mind, but gacha companies have been doing this for a decade (Hoyo loves their expys for a reason). Though ZZZ head dev confirmed that as of now they aren't doing expys and actually fought over making bangboos free. Though I'd also say AS hasn't done itself any favors over the years and this will certainly not be the last. As for Azur Lane: you can search the Iron Blood faction and you'll quickly see a lot of similar traits to Ellen.
@@shinigamiryan5837 that very fair, I guess to the fortune or unfortune of it all is we can't ever really know for sure. I am definitely coming at this from more of an art and character design background. While I've played a number of gacha games I'm not the most knowledgeable on them all. For me personally I find the nuisances of a lot of the designs too similar to write off as coincidence but it is a subjective matter at the end of the day. I truly wish the best for ZZZ and hope hoyoverse does it all good and right though part of my skepticism probably comes from a lot of my distrust that hoyoverse truly cares about it's consumer base. But hopefully corporate will give the ZZZ devs the freedom to make an awesome product I genuinely hope the best.

Let’s be real here nothing in this day is truely original. As long as that idea is executed well then that’s okay which in my opinion zzz did a phenomenal job with
idk how true this is but another video a commenter said the person who did the art/design for Anton is the same that did it for Sinsa. so this might entirely be because the character designer was re using an old design from ther past and didn't even notice what they did.
@@Chieftain01 it's definitely possible, I tried a little to find who the character designs are for ZZZ but I couldn't find them when I looked. I'd love to know who the designers are if anyone knows.
we are at the point that we have no way of having truely original characters if you want to have a arc style, alchemy stars seem to take inspiration from guren lagan, I Also seen to many "smaller" gatcha games that had great design but a shitty game attached to it like most anime cashgrab games, I would love a good game that takes inspiration, or a anime related game that was just good
@@Satchiidesu absolutely it's pretty much impossible to create something completely original, even if designed in a vacuum with no external influence (which is impossible outside of hypotheticals) it would still resemble something else despite being a complete coincidence. In the case of alchemy stars it definitely takes inspiration from guran lagan but no character in AS is as closely similar as ZZZ is to the AS character they appear to take close inspiration from. There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration pretty much all artists do, but good inspiration usually has multiple sources it draws from while trying to include new aspects unique to themselves. It really comes down to me how closely ZZZ takes with how little they change. It rubs me wrong as it feels like they are trying to turn over characters with little effort behind them for a significant profit. Obviously that's speculation on my part but at best it feels lazy. And ZZZ fans deserve better imo As for awesome characters in shitty games you are right I've seen lots of examples of this. Unfortunately, it's more of an industry problem. What we can hope for is that the great character designers can get hired by great studios to let their skill shine in a game deserving of their talent.
Each character on its own is distinct enough, I wouldn't really have noticed how it adds up across the various designs.
Good call out.

Anton is a direct reference to gurren laggan (overuse of word "bro", the drill) thats really all there is to it.
Sinsa is inspired by kamina when you compare them you can see the inspiration but there is no directly copied traits. Anton to sinsa however has many.
