Agree with your choice. Can't wait to see it come to life.
Thank you!! I can't wait either!!
The other design is also great. It would be appropriate to put in an urban setting i think. But you're right. It doesn't go with the vibe of your house. I think you chose the right design for your kitchen. It feels cozy and homey but at the same time stunning.
Thank you!! I think so... but now I also really want to bring that other kitchen to life somewhere :)
Love those 'cup of tea in the afternoon' tiles!
Me too... gotta love a cosy kitchen
Lucy you nailed it with this design! I think it works best in this particular home, and more cohesive with the entry / dining / living room. Can't wait to see the progress!
Thanks so much! 😊 I do think it will work well with the rest of the interiors
You made the right choice for sure. Suits your home perfectly.
Loved your final choice...can't wait to see it completed.
Thank you!! And me too!
Perfect choice. So you and Jonno and your lovely home.
I needed to see this right now as I’m having the same predicament. I love how you give the materials a personality! It actually makes a lot of sense that ‘they talk’ to each other. Thanks for your guidance and constant inspiration. BTW love Bongo
It is a great choice as it really matches your vib and the atmosphere of the house. I am always very much looking forward to the next video, and it is again true with this kitchen.
I loved hearing how you make design decisions. I'm renovating a house and find making decisions overwhelming so im grateful for these tips. loved your choices! I'd use the samples of the green stone for coasters.
Ive always loved your choices and in this case, I do prefer the one you're going with. Cant wait to see it completed. Good luck with living without a proper kitchen during the upgrade. Been there done that and hopefully never again. 😄
Oh my goodness I know… the joys of no kitchen 😂 it’s character building! So glad you like it, let’s hope it looks as good in the flesh
Can’t wait to see this all come together 🤍 and 💯 agree
Thank you so much!
Agree with your choice. Can’t wait to see it.
Thank you!!!
Aaaaaaah yet again it’s going to look AMAZING ❤❤
Ah thank you!
One thing about interior designing your home is to pick color palettes that defines you and go with an unbiased decision, so yes having two designs is best then it will come to light the one to go.
Absolutely, it's all comes down to what materials you gravitate towards and what you will continue to enjoy for years to come!
As a cabinet maker and someone who has manufactured and installed a lot of solid timber Benchtops I would definitely avoid them in the kitchen and bathroom.
They are prone to water damage around sinks and just don’t last any near as long as stone or laminate. And doesn’t change if you have an oil or 2pac finish on the timber either.
Good call, thanks for your feedback. Is it mainly the water damage around the sink that you found was the main problem?
This was my thought also in terms of water damage in the long run. Perhaps there is some kind of treatment that can be used? or another 'wood' imitation material that has some more durability?
@@Huntingforgeorge They definitely get water damage around sinks and basins, once the water gets under the top coating be at a 2pac finish or Hardwax oil you start to get a black mould. Also as timber is a natural product it tends to move with the change of seasons so you might get movement in joins or certain weak spots in the grain may open up especially if your using blackbutt.
Probably the only exception that I would use it, is for a separate kitchen island.
The green stone would make a great centre strip in a timber dining table.
oooh true!
Agree on the stone in the kitchen - it's not really the vibe of the rest of the house :) I'd love to see the darker moody stone in a dark and moody architectural Tasmanian coastal home
Think you made the right choice for the vibe of your house 👌
Thank you! I think so too, cosy over cool ;)
Can you help me locate the flooring? I can’t find it on the carpet court website
Hi Georgia, it is a little tricky to find! It's under their 'Native Squared' range. We got Spotted Gum Rustic 190. If you can try to get in store to see a sample. There is a lot of variation as it is solid timber, but we love it! www.carpetcourt.com.au/native-squared
Thanks so much xx
Hey Lucy, what’s the color of the darker (2nd option) cabinets, I’m looking at the polytech botanical, cause I want dark but I’m not sure if it’s too dark. Also, what do you think about exposed ply edges on the cabinet fronts (drawers). I’m at a 18month standstill in my kitchen cause I have decision paralysis, our styles are quite similar so I thought I’d reach out to you ☺️ love seeing your house coming together!
Hello! The darker green option from Polytec was Forage, not as dark as Botanic. They also have another new option called Evergreen. I'm not sure about the exposed ply edging, I'd be mainly considering the durability and practicality of cleaning, so I'd probably opt not to expose. But if you have a vision go for it!! Good luck!

The tiles look like squares of leather
when i keep checking in about the kitchen and nothing.?
Still working on it!! Gotta love the reality of renovating. Will share more updates as soon as we can!
You made the right decision for this home.
Thank you! I think it's definitely more cosy
I love the backsplash tile. Looks like leather!
Thank you! It does have such a beautiful warm texture to it!!
Always love your videos, you have impeccable taste! Will this be your new house or is this a holiday home? Xx
This is our home, we intended it to be our holiday home but we love living here too much!
@@Huntingforgeorge Oh that is so sweet. Babies and trees go together.
Love what you’ve chosen! It’s going look amazing 🤩
Thank you so much!
Love love love the finalised design. Definitely agree the tiles don’t work with the second design. Think the first and final design is very in keeping with your house and the vibe you are going for. X
Thank you 😊
I like the 'cup of tea' for your kitchen. But I vote for 'epic natural stone' for your future outdoor spa room that will house your dream bath! Even if you have an open air bath, you will still need a vanity/shower/changing area.
Hahaha I love this championing for my epic bath!! It will happen one day...
Agree with final choice for this home
Thanks! So glad you like
Love the design direction you've chosen for this kitchen. It was also really helpful to hear about how you got to that decision and your thought process. Completely agree that even though the green stone is gorgeous it isn't quite right for the space- would look beautiful in a city apartment maybe! Would love if you could share your thought process (including the options that you didn't end up going with) for future projects.
So happy that you found this helpful!!! I’ll definitely share more thought process as I think you’re not the only one that enjoyed it 😊 thanks so much for watching
I totally get the vibe you're going for, but I have absolutely hated timber bench-tops in multiple kitchens I've had over the years. It is not hard-wearing with water and heat.
Did you find it would stain a lot? Or was it water damage?
definitely the choice you made is so well suited to the natural environment and style of the home. The other selection is very sharp and modern but love the one you chose. awesome advise too on the thinking process. love your guys videos and posts. so helpful to the home renovator. ☺️
This is so lovely to hear, thank you and I’m so glad you found this helpful. It can be a minefield all those decisions sometimes!
The cup of tea in the afternoon option is epic
haha thank you!!! I do love a good cuppa tea
I think you made the most harmonious choice, the one you'll enjoy for ever....
Harmonious is the perfect word for it, thank you!
Great choices, those brown wall tiles are lovely.❤
Thank you, yes the colour of the tiles is very scrumptious!
Love the other (deeper) green in the polytec - a tiny bit more life in it than the softer green, I feel. Floor is gorgeous. Epic stone and dark wood are too much and I think your Tas oak and blackbutt are nicer.
I was so torn with the green, it was a last-minute change to go lighter green in the end. Ultimately it came down to the timber finish and the walnut was not the right tone. Both greens are so beautiful though!
It will look gorgeous and it is YOUR kitchen, after all.
Great renovation beautifully explained. Crunchy mic!
Thank you! And oops yes that was my bad, I didn't secure it properly! 🤦
I like option one. I'm just not fully convinced about the desgn of the cabinetry handles. I can see you have tried to compliment your tapware.
I look forward to the completion of your kitchen.
Thank you! Hopefully they complete the farmhouse look I'm after, I do love a cute handle
You kept to your vision, thanks for explaining your choice, it was very helpful. And your selection is perfect!
I'm so glad it was helpful... I thought it was good to explain a bit of my inner turmoil, as material selection can be brutal!
Love your choice!!! Thanks also for the explanation on how to things talk to each other. I will keep it in mind when we have to chose our kitchen later this year!
You are so welcome! And so glad it helped... there was a bit of a ramble in there but hopefully it made sense ;)
GREEEN! hahaha
LOVE your final choice of tile. Where are they from? Turns out we have the same bathroom vanity and I’m struggling with times behind it.. these could be a winner!
Also would really love to know where you got the tiles from, they’re lovely!
Yes you made the right choice for that home. Items and colours I would never think to do myself so I am extra excited to see it all come together! You are a bloody magician.
Aaah thank you so much!! I'm so excited to see it all go in
It's going to be so beautiful!
I hope so! Thank you
Agreed
Thanks!
When will we see the final reveal?
good question! ha, still working on it. Have hit a few road blocks...
