This is the 1st place I always come to for my Cowboys content(you, Bryan and Voch) -not any of those clowns on TV.. they just say 💩 to get a rise out of people.
Comment on Trey Lance. I have been watching Trey since his true freshman year. The Bad 1. He has never been terribly accurate. He was never a guy you could chalk up to go 67-75% completion. He'll normally complete 60-65% of his passes over a large sample size. 2. He always struggled with short throws to the sidelines. Can this be fixed? Maybe/probably. That's why teams have QB Coaches. But this isn't a "new problem." Personally, I think it can be fixed. The Good 1. He looked more "comfortable" against LV than I've ever seen him look in the NFL. At this point in his career he needs a good O-Line (they protected him much better than in the 1st pre-season game) and a strong running game. Both of which he had in this game. Could he eventually not need this "crutch"? I think it is possible. 2. But right now he is learning on the fly. For perspective he's YOUNGER than Bo Nix. He has fewer "snaps" of experience than probably any QB in the NFL. His struggles are as likely "lack of experience" rather than "lack of talent." He is EXTREMELY RAW. Anyone who acquires him and claims not to know this is not being honest with themselves. Yes, he's been in the league for 4 years but this is as healthy as he's ever been. In his 1st pre-season game of his career he fractured his finger on his throwing hand. His 2nd season he had a season ending injury early in the 2nd game of the year. Last year he was traded late in the pre-season and had to learn a new offense/team. He was rightly the #3 QB. 3. I don't think the first game this year was designed to be a game to "showcase his talent." I think that the way they called the game was to get game film on him running the offense. No on in their right mind looks at Trey and says, "There's a guy who should drop back in the pocket 40+ times and he'll pick you apart." They wanted to see what he could/couldn't do. How would he respond to things? Did he learn during the game? Then this past week the focus for him was to correct the things he did wrong in week 1 (and there was a LOT). In week 2 they devised a game plan more similar to what he did at NDSU in college. Throw the ball about 20-25 times. Call a couple designed runs. Let him scramble. Have him move the pocket. Having a more comfortable/familiar game-plan along with probably just improving and learning from the previous week's practice resulted in a much better version of Trey Lance in Week 2. Conclusion: Dak Prescott is not, nor should he be, looking over his shoulder at Trey Lance. Trey brings a different skill-set than Cooper Rush. Rush has a MUCH HIGHER floor. To me Trey has a much higher ceiling. I do think that Trey brings a potential dynamism to the offense that Cooper Rush does not. At this point in his career Trey showed against LV what he could do when running an offense catered to his skill-set. I do believe that with experience and coaching his mechanics/accuracy as well as his decision making will improve. That is about as well as Trey can play AT THIS POINT. My understanding of the rule is that the Cowboys can carry a 3rd QB and he doesn't count against their 53-man roster but he cannot play unless the #1 and #2 QB are both medically unable to play (think 2022 NFC Championship Game). Be willing to listen to offers from other teams if they want to acquire him. If you get a good offer, jump at it. If not, keep him around and see what you can do with him. Whether it is as the #2 or the #3. At the end of the season the team can decide whether they want to re-sign him at a vastly reduced salary or if they can't come to terms with him. Unless he really impresses this year he has almost no leverage to ask for anything but a contract to "compete" for a back-up role in Dallas or anywhere else. I am a fan of Trey and really hope he succeeds. But I also try to be clear-eyed about him. I believe he has the talent to be an NFL QB but needs a chance to gain the experience he lacks. At this point if he's your starting QB you are unlikely a playoff QB. But as a back-up he can be valuable and when he gets the experience/coaching he needs he can develop into a capable NFL QB.
This is the Dallas Cowboys guys. We are a business not a football team. Is there any other RB that we could add to the team that's going to sell more jerseys than Zeke? Unlikely. Zeke will be here regardless if there is someone better because we like to be the most valuable football team. Winning comes 2nd.
Broaddus is the most consistent "anti-Dak, trying to not seem anti-Dak" guy I've ever seen. Trey Lance was NOT dymanic last week. He finally looked LIKE A BACKUP. Wow, isn't that wonderful! And Broaddus already has him as the future. Just ridiculous. Let's do it this way. Let's imagine that Trey Lance could one day lead the #1 offense in the NFL. Maybe he leads the NFL in TD passes? Maybe he makes all-pro! Maybe he deserves the MVP but finishes 2nd in that award. I mean MAYBE he could be as good as .............. A GUY YOU ALREADY HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean, his arm wasn't dynamic, but his running damn sure is. Now you might say "you want your QB to throw first not run", which is true, but when you have SOME ability to throw the football, and you can use the legs as an added weapon, because it is, with all his physical traits, you can find a way win with him while he's developing with a team around him. As a 49ers fan, we have gotten to the superbowl recently by having a cheap QB, and players around them. The last 4 years, we've done this, and been to 4 straight NFC championships. It may be the route to go.
@@BJonesReactz1 his running is good. But so are a BUNCH of backups who will never be every day starters. Remember the guy Dobbs who beat us for Arizona I think it was? Very athletic. Can look good in very short samples. Not a guy.

Lance as a backup is fine if needed but the offense must change once he is in there if you see him as strictly an RPO guy
An upgrade over Dak isn't even a possibility. He's a top 6-8 QB in this league as it is. You're not getting a Mahomes or Rodgers and they'll never suck bad enough for the #1 pick. People said the same shit about Romo.......and they were wrong too!

Why is no one discussing Zeke being cut and then resigned? The Cowboys do it all the time with players they know the rest of the league is not going to claim through waivers. I think this year a number of players the Cowboys covet the rest of the league would not claim - Zeke, Trent Sieg (LS), and C.J. Goodwin (Special teams only). They have done exactly this before with Goodwin and other long snappers. I'm wondering why not do the same with Zeke? The contract they gave him will keep other teams away. And after he clears waivers they would eat the contract but also able to resign him for the minimum.

Wasted roster spot on a guy who was done 3 years ago! The Brass gets No pass on that. You can bet Coach had nothing to say about the done zeke being signed, He knows...How bad of a blocker is TE Stephens? He looks like a Tall WR trying to play TE and can't do the tough stuff.
Yep, very frustrating - Yet we saw the season before Zeke's last season w/ the team. EVERYONE in the solar system saw the carries % shoulda been 70 Pollard, 30 Zeke... instead we got near 50/50 or worse. "A shame we have to remind the coaches who's better at football"
They had a chance to draft a RB when they drafted Schoon in the 2nd round. We didn't need a TE that early in the draft.

The Jones boys told everybody and their dog that they wanted a TE. Silly Wabbits.

@@metriusadams60 Agreed, but whats done is done, but why have a washed up RB? I wanted one in the 3rd rd this year, The LBer from Notre Dame better come through big time! :)
Facts zeke sucks
