NO ONE can do Jolene like DOLLY …. NO ONE ‼️ original is best … we don’t need this new version by the “queen B”….. what a joke .. Let Dolly take this one …
Never gave a second thought to Beyonce. In my opinion, insecure is a good description for Beyonce as she uses intimidation in her uptake version of Jolene. I know not too much detail about the roots of feminism, but I understand it has probably morphed in to a more demented and insecure form, as what we have today.
I disagree with Charlie.I think women become more beautiful in their 30s.They're more stable, more ready to settle down, and more mature. I think I was at my best in my mid 40's. In fact, I remember saying at 48 how I felt more beautiful, accomplished, and more healthy than I ever had in my whole life.
Their point was its harder to conceive and raise children when you get to your late 30s, really hard, and the age going up is harming the view of what it means to be feminist, and the movement caused this, leaving too many women with regret. The fact you are a man making this comment and ignoring their main concern in the argument is typical of Male obliviousness, as Megan and the panel said.
It's interesting that you refer to him as "Mr millionaire". The rock came from nothing, I think he ans his mother were homeless at one point so anything he has he earned through hard graft. You could do the exact same thing but you chose not to, that's the only difference between you and dwayne Johnson......choice
Oh please. Dwayne Johnson is freaking loaded with money. He owns at least four businesses in addition to his acting career. He is set for life. The ignorance is people like you, who don't have a clue about the Rock.
Miley Cyrus did an amazing Jolene in her Backyard sessions. Though Beyoncé probably feels like she has to threaten since her husband has cheated on her and it’s hard to imagine anyone loving her husband that much
That wasn’t the message of the original Jolene. She knew that Jolene might be able to take him because she was a wild woman, living in a world he knows nothing about and dressing in a very sexy way to attract on that superficial level but that Jolene would never care about him and only hurt him. That when she was gone, devastation would be left behind for nothing. It was an old way of looking at things but sort of typical of the version of Parton as a simple and poor country girl, which she was when she came into the Nashville scene. This version is NOTHING like the original message.
I've never understood that either, but then I'm older. My husband and I are a great team, I'm the woman , he's the man, it's lovely. Viva la difference.
Compete with men? So if I like to paint, I'm competing with male painters? Is that the logic? Make it make sense. I don't compete with men, I'm doing my own thing. I also don't like to cook or clean, but I love to repair things and mow the lawn and build stuff. Yes, I'm a woman. You do realise that women are different from....eachother and not all are feminine and docile and nurturing.
@@sandyno1089what does that even mean??? Like, wtf is the logic? My husband cooks, I repair stuff around the house and do yard work. He's still the man, I'm still the woman, but we have different abilities and hobbies. If I cooked and he repaired stuff, everything would be in chaos and we'd both be unhappy.
I heard Jolene by Beyonce's. I don't care what Dolly Pardon says -- It is not that great! Dolly she might have ruined your song. If you can't sing a song as good as or better, write your own.
"Jolene" is a classic and Beyonce should have left it alone. I listened to it when it dropped and I thought damn, Beyonce. Can't leave a good song alone.
That doesn't mean your relationship isn't dysfunctional. I know countless marriages that are 30 yrs + and they're toxic. Not saying that you guys are the same way but most relationships where the man is older are normally manipulative of the younger woman. They tend to want to groom and mold her. Tony Gaskins talked about this and he said the same. Of course, there are always some exceptions but generally, it isn't a good idea.
@@saltycat662the most solid relationships I have seen in life are when one spouse is much older than the other actually. I don’t think you’re gonna find many examples that support your argument.
True feminism is being able to have and make choices. We don't have to just stay home and raise the children, although we can if we want. We can have jobs that we love, have marital partners and raise children if we want, or not, but we don't have to do it all by ourselves. It's wonderful to have a job or career that we love, have an amazing spouse who helps equally with raising the children we love and keeping our home. We have choices! We can make the choices that WE want, not be forced into someone else's idea of what we should be. 😂😂 I'm 70 and my life has been great and still is!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Dolly is a brilliant country girl who made her self rich and beautiful by her drive, brains and talent-she is also a brilliant businesswoman. It’s one of those questions everyone’s thinking but whoever asks first is bound to sound like a dirty minded perv! But how can your mind not go there?!
Jolene is a story about a real woman who worked at a bank with Dollys husband. At the time, Dolly was gone touring and establishing her career, and Jolene was being very attentive and flirty with Dollys husband, and didn't hide it from Dolly. Her song shifted her husband from being a neglected man to the most deeply loved man in the eyes of his coworkers, and Jolene to a heartless homewrecker. He also got to hear on the radio how hopelessly in love his wife was with him, even if she wasn't around. Be like Dolly. Think smarter, not harder.
Of course Kamala Harris said country music has it's roots in black culture. That's a ridiculous statement. Country music does NOT have it's roots in black culture. While at the same time Kamala Harris herself doesn't have her roots in black culture either. Kamala's parents are from India. R & B music was heavily influenced by the old Negro Spirituals. You can make a connection from the infamous 1930's blues guitarist Robert Johnson to Chuck Berry, and Elvis Presley, in the 1950's, and then to The Beatles in the 1960's. Eventually "The Blues" became an integral part of what we call Classic Rock and Roll music of the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, and the early 1980's. But in my opinion the deeper you go into Rock and Roll from the mid 1980's and beyond the less and less it has to do with the blues. Country Western music was founded by, built by, and made famous by, Caucasian musicians like Jimmie Rodgers, Gene Autry, Vernon Dalhart, Uncle Dave Macon, the father of Bluegrass music Bill Monroe, Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, Roy Acuff, Buck Owens, Roy Clark, and the father of rockabilly music Carl Perkin's. There have been many beloved female country western star's from Jenny Lou Carson, Minnie Pearl, Patsy Cline, June Carter, Tammy Wynette, and Kitty Wells, to Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Dottie West, and Crystal Gayle. Then there is the beloved entertainer Glen Campbell who started out in the music business as a member of "The Wrecking Crew". For those who are unaware. The Wrecking Crew was a legendary group of world class studio musicians who secretly played on pretty much everybody's records (especially) in the 1960's and 1970's. Glen Campbell was one of the greatest guitar players who ever lived. Glen Campbell was considered primarily a country musician but he transcended many different musical genre's throughout his career. Don't forget Johnny Cash, (who created the boom-chicka-boom sound) Ray Price, (who brought the 4/4 shuffle time signature to country music) there's Waylon Jennings, Willy Nelson, (Waylon and Willy and the Boy's) Kris Kristofferson, and the outlaw country sound. There is also guitarist Albert Lee (an Englishmen) who came out of the Skiffle Music Era with The Beatles. Albert Lee played with The Everly Brothers, and Emmy Lou Harris for quite some time. Albert is such a great and influential player (who not unlike Glen Campbell) was never truly tied down to any single musical genre. Albert was just as comfortable playing Rock and Roll music with Eric Clapton, and George Harrison, as he was playing country with Emmy Lou Harris. Glen Campbell and Albert Lee picked up where Ray Price left off. They influenced many contemporary country western guitar players like Rodney Crowell, Ricky Skaggs, Brad Paisley, and Vince Gill. The point is that anybody claiming that Country Western Music is rooted in black culture is doing a horrible job trying to rewrite history. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I
I'm a mom that single handedly raised and parented a daughter. She saw that it was really important to get an education and career so that you can support yourself if your husband or partner dies or leaves you. She is now 30 and is ready to seek a spouse. The experiences of dating that she's had in the last 10 years has not been favorable. Most of the men are intimidated by her successes or they want to live off her. This seems to be common among her friends. She doesn't want to have children so there fortunately is not in a rush. Thanks Megyn.🎉
I love this episode and I can identify with all of you, especially you Megyn! I am a generation older than you (age 66) but am also a lawyer from upstate NY. I married in my 30s, and didn’t have my only child (a daughter until I was 39). I found (earlier in my career) that being an associate in a law firm wasn’t really for me, and going just after career goals was not fulfilling. Eventually I went on my own, decided it was time to look for a spouse, found a wonderful one (also a lawyer). I was able to continue successfully in my career, and at the same time adjust my schedule so that I could attend every ballet recital, school play and lacrosse game, and was so much happier, even though some career sacrifices were made. My daughter is now in medical school, and we have had talks about the fact that life needs more than just a career to be happy, and having a family and trying achieve a balance is at least equally important.
You can have a career and kids, just not at the same time if you want to do either well. I had my kids first and now with 1 left at home, I’m focusing on a career. Totally worth it as I don’t feel like I missed anything from when they were young.
Should women marry older men?! Men and woman should marry for love. A young couple could marry and one get hit by a car a day later. A couple could have 20 years between them and have 10 or more loving years. Be with the one you love. Period.
She is a very jealous woman. She usually talk about every woman that is a star or in the media which is not real news. Taylor, Meghan, Lizzo, Michelle, now Beyonce. Most are black she has some racist in her as well
When I was in college in the early 1980s we were told we could have it all. A career a home and a family. You can but it is hard work.. I am a traditional wife I don't dress up to cook or bake . Kids running under foot. My house wasn't spotless . Laundry is not always done. But we are happy.
Beyoncé’s country album is a total joke!! I can’t switch my country radio station fast enough, if Beyoncé comes on!! @@fet6 I think the "Desire to be pursued because of her beauty" is a destructive thing. The bible advises women not to be so focused on outward appearances, to focus on virtues instead. After all "Beauty is fleeting and charm deceptive". But virtues......they're eternal. I think if a woman forget about her physical appearance and instead focused on virtues, desire a man would be drawn to her because she's humble because she has great patience, not because her hair is fixed a certain way or because of the effects of make up. Let virtues be what draws men to you, nothing else. This is the woman in proverbs 31
This is a great point about modern day feminism . My boyfriend was saying the exact same thing the other day . Modern day feminism is hard and unfemine .
I have had more men hit on me on my late 30's /early 40's than I ever did in my early 20s as I looked extremely young. I'm married and I still get mistaken for a miss LOL. I think a lot of us have difficulty balancing work and family. Work forces us to ignore our families if you don't do your work you may lose a promotion, or get fired and replaced. I am currently happy staying at home at my age but do miss being at work but I don't like the way people are at work. The backstabbing and the gossiping is so stressful and I don't like it.
There is no possible way that the kids aren’t distracted (and possibly horrified) by those twins when they are trying to teach. This is the same as all the other DEI nonsense, they have a job they shouldn’t.
I take the original Jolene as a woman trying to appeal to another woman’s humanity and to please don’t rock this boat. We have something here. Of course there’s other things wrong with this like what about the guy showing some restraint, the idiot. She may even be trying to make this last effort to do this peacefully before she goes postal on the other woman. I I haven’t heard it but if Beyoncé’s version is about leave him alone or I’ll beat the crap out of you, it changes the whole meaning of the song to me. More violent, more impulsive without civility and reason. I’ll have to look up the lyrics…….the first chance I get.
I enjoyed the fact that these three women could allow one another to have their own opinion without getting upset by it. With that being said I also liked the fact that the two guests didn't suck up to Megyn either. Megyn liked "Sex in the City" and Bridget didn't let that stop her from admitting that she didn't like it. It's refreshing to see intelligent people speak their minds and still remain friendly at the end of the discussion. But when Megyn Kelly said that she doesn't know what The CERN Hadron Collider is... I dated an older man (38), when I was 19. He was charming, funny, but broken from a first disastrous marriage. We were in much different places in our lives and I often felt more mature than him. I tearfully broke it off, but remained long distance friends with him, by mail, until he died in 2016. The woman who pursued him after me fought with him for 30+ years, then complained about their relationship when he was dying. I was able to still care about him as a friend and accept we were never a good match. I'm surprised I realized that at age 21.
As a woman who did "the climb", I would do it over. You don't appreciate where you are now without the struggles you endure and overcome to get to where you are now.
80 year old guy who lived through the whole Haight Ashbury hip era and the drug times that followed. Great show for today's times. Watching my daughter and grandchildren grow and build their lives, helping them wherever I can. It ain't easy but it's lots of fun!
I can see Charlie Kirk's point about young women. I think making it all about looks is a mistake, but men don't have a ticking clock like women do. The fact of the matter is that women have one time in their lives where they can become mothers, and their whole lives to do something valuable in the world outside of their families. Telling them that they have to take advantage of their prime to get into corporate pencil pushing is a very destructive message, and I think women are waking up to that.
I think they acknowledged that point. But they are saying (and I agree) it’s not the dichotomy that’s presented here. And also one should offer an off ramp instead of just mocking people for clicks.
Sex in the City did talk the way we all use to talk, I find it bewildering, how this small group of people can dictate to all of us what we say and what not to say. They have some serious power. Heathers (1988) is a film that is jarring, but in a completely different way. It takes something like a school shooter and tries to make fun of it with some dark humor, but this is something very, very different. We've pretty much made up a bunch of terms and it's PC not to use the correct one.

You were deluding yourself. Most actresses are done playing romantic roles by 45, and even then that only if they look 10-15 years younger.
While I tend to agree with you, from a women's perspective, it's unfortunately not how a lot of men, that are looking to settle down, think.
Most women are at their prettiest in the 20's though they might be more interesting people in their 30's.

Miley Cyrus did an amazing Jolene in her Backyard sessions.
Though Beyoncé probably feels like she has to threaten since her husband has cheated on her and it’s hard to imagine anyone loving her husband that much
There days are numbered! They are in the Diddy ring!
Loved her version
Bey’s version of Jolene furthers our bullying problem!
Oh my goodness, Beyoncé should’ve taken notes from Luke Combs and sang Dolly’s song verbatim! And said “I feel honored!”
It's literally impossible for entitled narcissists to show humility and be humble.
Why do women feel they have to compete with men that they are not the same.
Because they believe that is what equality means.
That is a true question. But now, with the trans contagious folly of the moment, you find men wanting to compete with women.
Beyoncé’s version of country music sounds like it’s from a bad SNL skit.

The best answer to "Jolene" is Chapel Hart's original song "You Can Have Him Jolene." And that group of women are true country stars.
I heard Jolene by Beyonce's. I don't care what Dolly Pardon says -- It is not that great! Dolly she might have ruined your song. If you can't sing a song as good as or better, write your own.
what you think about whitney's version of I will love you?
I’m from the area that Dolly was born. We are disgusted. The memes are good😉
@iknowfool4590 Whitney did a Great Job on I'll.Always Love You. We don't call Women Bitches in Country Music and all I can say is bye bye bay.❤
Dolly is a positive soul and she just had to say something nice, I’m convinced her true feelings differ from what she said
Dolly just getting paid off the song she knows it's nothing
"Jolene" is a classic and Beyonce should have left it alone. I listened to it when it dropped and I thought damn, Beyonce. Can't leave a good song alone.
Ok, let's all acknowledge that Dolly is freaking awesome.
Acknowledged.
My wife is ten years younger than me……47yrs later we’re still going strong 😎❤️👍
That doesn't mean your relationship isn't dysfunctional. I know countless marriages that are 30 yrs + and they're toxic. Not saying that you guys are the same way but most relationships where the man is older are normally manipulative of the younger woman. They tend to want to groom and mold her. Tony Gaskins talked about this and he said the same. Of course, there are always some exceptions but generally, it isn't a good idea.
My brother is 7 years younger than my SIL. Been married over 50 years. They have a very close bond. Same core values.
My husband is eight years younger, just over thirty years strong.
My husband is almost 10 years older than me. I think it works better when men are a good bit older than we are since women mature at a younger age.
@@saltycat662the most solid relationships I have seen in life are when one spouse is much older than the other actually. I don’t think you’re gonna find many examples that support your argument.
I’m so old I remember when black people said “I like every kind of music but Country.”
It's a weak attempt at cultural appropriation. They will fail.
I’m a woman- I totally agree with Charlie Kirk!
I would never want to return to my 20’s or even 30’s. 67 and happy grandmother, never been happier. God is great.
Dolly is a brilliant country girl who made her self rich and beautiful by her drive, brains and talent-she is also a brilliant businesswoman. She was thrilled when Whitney Houston turned her song I will Always Love you into a mega hit-as she said “I made a lot of money on that song…” suspect Dolly lauding this less successful version of of her songs for the $$$ aspect of those royalties
Whitney did it justice though and she had always been a Country Music Fan.

SEX in the City, was written by older Gay men, and traces out THEIR dramas. "I hated it" - AGREED!
Sounds a bit homophobic. Also, it's Sex AND the City
The twins are brave. They are teaching kids. Kids have ZERO filters
Sex in the city, loathed it, wasn't it the hand basket that our culture went to hell in?
As a 52 yo man with 2 boys I agree we need to discuss what real men are.
Wow. Props for the knowledge. Would love to see a video outlining this.
Bridget had the ABSOLUTE BEST laugh! So infectious! Both these gals crack me up!
The new version of the song is terrible
I don’t mind if Beyonce wants to try her hand at singing country. What I have a problem with is her changing the lyrics to Dolly Parton’s song.
Loved this show. I never saw MK & Bridgette before. I guess I missed the shows they have been in. They're fun, smart & terrific

Should women marry older men?! Men and woman should marry for love. A young couple could marry and one get hit by a car a day later. A couple could have 20 years between them and have 10 or more loving years. Be with the one you love. Period.

I haven’t heard it but if Beyoncé’s version is about leave him alone or I’ll beat the crap out of you, it changes the whole meaning of the song to me.
The modern day Jolene encourages violence. Make your own music don't use others. I guess she can't make her own country songs.

The Kamala Harris segment was HILARIOUS!!
Lots of fun today. Like the diversity of thought today.
Love these women!! ❤
Couldn’t say it better myself 😂
Sex in the City did talk the way we all use to talk, I find it bewildering, how this small group of people can dictate to all of us what we say and what not to say. They have some serious power. Heathers (1988) is a film that is jarring, but in a completely different way. It takes something like a school shooter and tries to make fun of it with some dark humor, but this is something very, very different. We've pretty much made up a bunch of terms and it's PC not to use the correct one.
I agree with Charlie.
There is what we want, and there is what we can have.
While there are either/or, not all is either/or.
