I’m seventy+, and rocket launches NEVER get old for me, nor airplanes, nor an eagle when it soars over the Rockies, nor a hummingbird feeding at flowers….
I am nearly 75 years old and rocket launches never get old. I listened to the first Moon landing and walk on a tiny portable transistor radio. That was a seminal moment for me as year-one University student. My career as an Electronics Engineer was often fueled by remembrance of this collective achievement by humans around the World.
It’s just such a tremendous sight! All the calculations and engineering on such scale! Perfected to the point where we’ve come to just expect it’s going to be successful, as a given.
My wife and my son and I got to see this launch in person from Playalinda Beach. Amazing! You could feel the pressure waves from the launch before you heard the roar of the engines. Awesomeness.
I used to think the sound of the Falcon Heavy was badass, but Starship is just a whole other level...Having the two boosters land together is still crazy cool. My favorite You Tube video of all time is "Falcon Heavy Starman" If you want more people to get jazzed about space, do more videos like that...
The boosters returning and landing as a pair is already amazing, but only now have I realized that they're basically flying in formation for an impressive distance- hundreds of kilometers? WOW!
There is an amount of child like fascination watching the boosters return and land with such accuracy again and again. Many thanks for your coverage Tim.
Love the excitement of the crowd in the stunning footage from the Apollo mission at the end of your stream. Deserves an even bigger parade, shame how little interest modern media show it is amazing achievements.
Yes. I'm 58 and still remember NASA landing on the moon on July 1969. (Black and White TV) However watching the boosters land is an incredible achievement. The Future has finally arrived!
Seeing the side booster landing is still the craziest thing I've ever seen UNTIL if SpaceX manage to catch the Superheavy booster with the tower. I can't wait!
I watched that Saturn V lift off as an 8 year old awestruck kid with my astounded parents, who were born when cars were still almost a novelty. We knew we were watching something extraordinary! My dad took me outside and pointed at the moon and said “Rob, men are walking on that moon right now!!”. He was into home movies and bought the Super 8 movie of the whole Apollo mission so we could watch it in all in big screen “Super Technicolor” goodness. I’ve had a passion for all things space since. I’m hoping I’ll be around to watch men land on Mars. Go SpaceX!
NASA, Boeing, and any other launch provider would have been using 1980s cartoons to illustrate the launch instead of this AWESOME video from #1 SpaceX!
I just love your intro man! Never gets old and I want to watch it every single time (and I do). I don't remember any other intro or repetitive (landing rockets too nowadays :) ) thing that doesn't get old except this! The shots but most importantly the SOUND/MUSIC its super great! So inspiring and spectacular. Truly amazing.
The flames climbing the rocket used to freak me out when I was a kid watching the Apollo shots. I learned why this happened a few years later when I studied Fluid Dynamics in college.
I attended this live, my first ever. One of the best things I've ever done. The anticipation and then ignition are amazing. I was struck by three things. The rocket accelerates faster than I thought it would. (Guess I was expecting a Starship launch. The audio on any of the videos online simply don't come close to replicating that rattly roar of those engines. And I mean better live by 10-20 times. Lastly, I was surprised how hard it is to watch the fire coming from the engines. It's close to the brightness of the sun. Loved it all!
Is there ANY way at all that we can not listen to the SpaceX announcers and instead just the mission control audio so that I don't have to hear them constatnly talking over the control teams? I don't mind you talking, but i don't need them telling me what MAXQ is ever 2 seconds telling me to expect it and then be yapping while they call out MAXQ, then telling me every single time what it means. Just....ya know, can you just do the audio instead of them?
I have a suggestion for the bottom event tracker. Don't connect them with the white line. People will expect that the line represents continuous time passing like a loading bar, not discrete jumps. So just light them up one by one. This is like good user interface design, which almost everyone is horrible at including Apple, Android and all existing code editors. Create a tracker which humans will understand right away by looking at it.
As always, big conratulations to the people of Space X, their subcontractors and other support, and of course to Elon Musk who made all of this possible. If he had been in charge of the US space program, we would already be on Mars.
@@mikhailkeniya7951 With Starship there will likely only be 10-15 more falcon heavy launches so probably just less expensive than risking a drone ship.
it's just a toy rocket, look at 41:42 bird goes straight through the flames.. joke aside... double sonic boom, never get's old and getting a close up of a booster - pure joy
I love that track in the intro! I was going to ask what it was from and found out you wrote it? 🤯🤯🤯Have you heard of "Hum" or "Centaur"? I recommended them and accidently hit the back button. 😅
I wonder how big a payload if 4 strap on boosters were used. The center booster would not turn on until all the strap on boosters were disconnected. But now we have the Starship around the corner. So what if the superheavy had strap on boosters? But that’s why the 12 meter diameter booster is planned.
I dont see SpaceX selling engines to ULA either, SpaceX would say more like "Well we can throw your payload up there on Starship if you like". Falcon heavy launches are so cool. Would be amazing to be at the Cape viewing area to witness the side boosters coming back... Imagine a 12m Super Starship with like 60 engines on the booster... An extra 3 meters diameter could probably hold an extra 20-30 engines on a single row easily. That would be nuts, that that its not already on some form of bat s*** crazy level to catch a 9m 180t dry mass booster on the launch tower.
These two boosters turning around and starting their boost-back burns is such an amazing sight! 😍
That never gets old!
So cool, the interactions of the plumes between the boosters and the second stage engine.

nice. i waited for a long time to see the launch, i always seem to miss rocket launches but happily i saw this one
It looks like something out of a movie, but this is real life. Great work!! Very impressive.
It’s insane how routine this is. Still impressive of course, but I can’t help reminiscing about the early days. Crazy times!
I'm not sure if we are hearing the sonic booms when the boosters return... or collectively hearing the flat earthers having an embolism all at once.
I think the tandem boosters coming back is one of my favorite sights in space flight!

The fact that a private company can just wip out Falcon heavy and launch where even governments fail is amazing. Go Space X !!
SpaceX would not exist without funding from the US government.
I've been watching rocket launches since they were first broadcast on TV. This is so impressive; it never fails to thrill.
The most amazing thing about this is just how ordinary it is. WOW

Would it be possible for a 3 or 4 side-booster super heavy ?
Does anyone know why they had to use a Heavy instead of just a single Falcon 9 for an 11,000lb payload to GTO?!?!
Or why expend the core stage when launching a 5000kg satellite?

Higher orbit - not LEO.

Wait, there are people that dislike SpaceX?
I love your work. For the future mission. Have you flown the Vomit Comet yet?
I get the idea that those booster landings keep getting more precise.
Is the centre booster landing on the ship planned for this mission?

Does wind play a major factor in the side boosters landing where expected?
Yeah. They can steer and compensate though.
the center booster?
Sacrificed to the god of speed.
Where is the main booster, which was in the middle?
In little bits and pieces at the bottom of the ocean.
