Mate awesome vid showing some insights to the pressure this event creates and how actually the top guys come together and make it pretty fun. It’s great to bring a focus back to the pure essence of street machining, building with mates and using the car to have fun.
My mates 56' Chev ATTACK won a bunch of awards in the hall. Back then Saturday evening was when the events were on during the Supercruise to decide Grand Champ. It was interesting to see how competitive, but still gentlemanly everyone was especially when trying to figure out who was going to drive and who wasn't. And what their chances were if they took the shot.
Hi Howard. My sympathies to the owner of forged. I cant begin to fully appreciate the amount of hours and money to build this car, only to make an error in judgement. Im guessing the required repair, due to the mods to body structure would be extensive . Total rebuild?
I didn’t realise that it was forged that tagged the wall 😮😢 People criticised it last year because he didn’t really drive it. After a ten year build or however long it took who could blame him, but I hope he didn’t feel pressured to have a dig at the motorkana 😮
Most the big names will cover them but it will be for perceived value not what you spent. Im current with Enthusiast Insurance with my cars. I don't believe anyone will cover you unless stipulated when doing driving events, power cruise type events or racing.
That place must have been like the Bermuda triangle, thousands of people all with phones and no footage of the XY crash. 😂 all the stars in the universe must have aligned. On a serious note so sad to see that beautiful car damaged. Hopefully repaired soon.
Think about it. The community of guys that build these top60 cars is pretty small. Howard has his brand/name/business/reputation attached to this youtube channel. If he starts making videos for views off someone else's misery, going oh look what's happened here, he's crashed into the wall etc, it won't reflect very well.
Amazing, amazing body work and paint on these elite cars. So many are let down by the old shitty drivelines and power plants. "Big block, turbo 400 and a 9inch" yawn. Over 1 million dollars and these same boring chassis, driveline combos. Don't get me started on some of their wheel choices.....
at the end of the day its still a car....if it cant handle the driving events its just an over-polished turd. Even if Howard polished your turd...its still a turd.
Thankyou for doing videos like this because the event mostly focuses on the burnouts, but never see the GC driving events. Thankyou to the team
Our pleasure, our focus is on the show and street cars
Thank you Howard for giving us all some insight into the Grand Champion process.
Our pleasure.
A Beautiful Car and well deserved Grand Champion the Torana.
Agreed
It's great to see the background of a car and how the average bloke can do the grand champion, I will see what I can achieve.
Thanks mate.
It's achievable, but it takes dedication.
Many thanks Howard and crew, great coverage all round with commentary and insights behind the scenes. Thanks Bill Mc
Our pleasure Bill

You got it, building a car with mates is the best.
Wow, that green on that XY is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
23:29 oh no😢😢😢. Yea to be honest i didnt need to see that happen either.
Thanks for the support
Its so deep
Lovin that silver 68 Camaro, looks sensational and best drag run👌💨💨🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yes that was a quality piece of machinery and no frightened to us it.
Geat insight into the mindset of a participant for an event that very few people get to experience.
Cheers
Great insight to the Grand Champion process
Cheers
Another great show to watch
Thanks for the support

Yes I guess they will assess the damage and get it sorted

No mate, they were going all out to win it. Last year they had some electrical or computer issues.
. Howard what is your experience with insurance and cover for cars like these ?
Most the big names will cover them but it will be for perceived value not what you spent. Im current with Enthusiast Insurance with my cars. I don't believe anyone will cover you unless stipulated when doing driving events, power cruise type events or racing.
Good vid man but the crowd is about burnt outs not show cars it’s a shame
The crowd in the Elite hall for 3 days was unbelievable. Sunday morning is always a tuff gig
I watched it for the forged accident and you didn’t show it 😂
Hope you enjoyed the rest of the show

We got it but chose not to show it. I’m sure Street Machine is in the same boat.
He crashed and you don't show it.
Some things are best left out.
@AstillDesign it's been everywhere else. Would be nice to get your point of view. Thanks for your time.
@drifterdrifter9558 the actual accident I don’t believe is available anywhere
@@AstillDesigncarnage just posted it this morning!

so if they haven't got stands do the judge's look down on that.
Summernats no. At Motorex in superstars you get point for the stand.
Damn it I got so involved watching this I forgot I had a pizza in the oven. Totally charcoal now. 😢😢😢
Must be doing something right then
He bumped the wall, your acting like someone was hurt out of respect for the family 🤷🏼♂️ bit over the top mate it’s been posted online
I’m not aware of the actual accident being online.
I am quite close to many involved and can assure you it’s a bit more than just bumping a wall.

Some of us still like those boring driveline choices.

Every car I’ve ever built, once it’s finished takes the name of another “shitbox”
Very true .. bit of gorilla hair and some paint and it will be back next year ..
