I guide wade fishing in North East Arkansas and West Mississippi. My best advice to you is to swim that bait more than picking up and putting down. You'll be surprised by the more bites you'll get.

I like to use an 8’ rod when wading for crappie. A shorter rod is just easier to handle in thick cover and with 2’ of line out. Just my opinion. This fishing is a lot of fun.
