Thank you for this wonderful convo. I lost my dad a month ago, completely unexpected. 4 nights in the ICU and that was that. I’m in the throes of it all, crying many times a day, just wondering if I’ll ever feel better, and I feel comforted after listening to you both. I think my dad might be doing a bee-thing, too! There was a little bee outside my car window in the parking lot of a strip mall the other day, just hanging around all cute. My dad is also coming in rainbows I think. Anyway, I’m a comic and performer, and my dad was my original comedic influence and supporter and was always talking me up to his friends on the golf course. Since this past Fall, I’ve been teaching P.E. to 1st-8th graders at my old school in my hometown, even though I was always afraid of balls coming at me growing up. I’m trying to be the P.E. teacher I wish I’d had. I feel like my dad was concerned about why I was pausing the pursuit of my dreams. Now that he is in the angelic realm, it heartens me to know he may have the influence he always wished he’d had to help me. Like, he once had the chutzpah to talk me up to Jon Lovitz in an elevator, and when I worked as a PA on “Curb” he always wanted me to give a story outline he’d written to Larry David, but I just felt uncomfortable about doing that, which makes me feel badly now. Heather, ya know what’s wild? I opened for myself when I first started doing stand up, proper. A family friend who was a promoter asked me to open for Jeff Applebaum in my hometown. It was like 300 people, half of whom had known me since I was born. Before I got the nads to do stand up “as myself”, I used to open for rock bands in New Orleans as different characters, so it seemed like the right thing to do. If you feel like it, you can see the vids on my RUclips channel. One character is a Girl Scout Troop leader I developed when I was studying at The Groundlings back in the day, and the other one was based on my apartment building manager in L.A. then I came out and did my me set. I’m going on and on. I think this is my version of giving you both my card at Soul Cycle. No candle purchase necessary, apparently. 🙏🏽🕊🌟✨💛 Viva our soul cycles! Stranger to stranger, my heart is breaking for you. Try to remember that everything heals in time. Trust in the process of time passing, and that you won’t feel this exact way forever. You will find peace. You’ll never get over it, why should you?! ❤ But the insufferable grief won’t last forever, you will feel a type of normal again, I promise.

But Heather is so much more grounded and normal. Nikki’s self obsession is too much!!, not only on her own podcast but on everyone else’s. She never stops talking about it, so yeah, I can imagine her face did look shiny because she gets so much work done and stares at it all day in the mirror.@@SweetCarolineeeee

Loved the fluid conversation about losing parents. Lost my step dad at 29 and my mom at 35 and the grief is not understood by my peers so it can be tough to find support when no one you know has been through it so young. The logistics of death are wild but I will say I was a bit grateful for having stuff we had to do because it forced us to keep it moving and not just sit and wallow. Lots of love to anyone that’s dealt with the untimely death of a loved one. Remember, the reason it hurts is because you loved them so much. If you didn’t love them that much, it wouldn’t hurt. I welcome the grief for that reason.
Heather easily has my favorite personality out if pretty much everyone like I want to be her best friend and just be her all at once 😂 love her so much

~ The thing is Romance is a relatively new concept in regards to marriage and long term relationships/partnerships … if you’re running it any other way then like a business/team, etc. that’s where the trouble comes in because it will not, typically, be peachy all the time. A lot of the times we have to be pragmatic about our partnership’s and that’s why long term relationships are in peril, this day and age.

As hellish as dealing with your baby all through the night and the associated exhaustion are, it’s also a major avenue for bonding. Can’t say I wouldn’t get a night nurse myself if I could afford it lol! But I would recommend everyone try it alone at least for a little. I look back on those memories with both dread and massive fondness
