They stole a car and used it to knock a man off a bicycle so hard that it killed him, they uploaded the video to some social media site. According to David Hogg logic, everyone who owns a car needs to have it taken away because a car was stolen and used improperly. The only people impacted by these draconian gun laws are the people who abide by the law and don't use their firearms improperly. More gun laws and gun free zones are a joke.

One of the things that bugs me about these people is their blatant dishonesty. I recently saw the headline for an article about "gun safety groups". Just the headline because if they won't allow comments then they want a sermon, not a discussion (typical). The dishonesty comes in several categories ... willful ignorance (pretending to knowledge/expertise they clearly don't possess), emotional manipulation (WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!) and, well hypocrisy.
The hypocrisy comes from their very names ... "Gun Safety Group". We all know they don't care about gun safety, what they want is to take your stuff.
They don't like guns so nobody should have them.
They don't want to accept the responsibility of gun ownership so nobody (except for Police, Military and paid security) should carry them.
They can't be bothered to protect themselves, so they want to take away your freedom to do so.
    .
Thieves and liars one and all. If they were "Fire Safety Advocates" they'd literally stand in a burning building, beg for the Fire Department to come and save them and then get mad at you for owning a fire extinguisher. Then they'd say to ban them because someone huffed the CO2 and died. They'd blame the flames for the destruction of their house, not the guy who set it on fire or their own incompetence deep-frying tofu squares (yeah ... I went there).

I mean - that's a stretch. This guy was legitimately committed to a mental institution just a few months ago. No one can justify him still be allowed to own firearms and the police effectively giving up because they couldn't seem to cross paths with the guy. I usually agree with Colion on most stuff, but in this case it's completely legitimate and IMO above board for a judge to give local law enforcement a search warrant specifically for the confiscation of this guys firearms (under the presumption they are stored in his home). Even if he's not there, that should not preclude them from securing his firearms after he's been committed, is theoretically MIA and has made multiple specific threats of gun violence. The system working like this would not have any impact negatively on any law abiding gun owners. In fact, it would make us all look a whole heck of a lot better because it might assist in avoiding shooting just like this in the future. Make threats of gun violence like this guy did? Immediately lose your right to bear arms. That shouldn't be controversial.

The laws we already have will never work if they don't do their damn jobs!! But why would they when they can push more gun laws.

Maine's yellow flag law is actually more tolerable than red flag... it at least allows for due process..

So yet again everyone knew this guy was a threat, and yet the government proves time after time they cannot be trusted to do even the most basic of responsibilities....Why do people think adding one more law or banning something will change anything. It's time to start taking self protection seriously and stop thinking it's someone else's responsibility to protect you.

Understanding the extreme effects of the medications they give to people with mental health issues and come to understand these medications can not be used alone and require monitoring and should not be used as long term treatment. That's a step in the right direction.
