that's going to be one expensive toy, can't really do a lot of repainting with that either - probably going to be a special order type of release, as I can't imagine a general release would work very well considering the likely size / cost of that item... unless it sells millions, places like WalMart are hesitant to order them and let them take up shelf space as there's a LOT of toys fighting for space as it is.
@@thomasrickelman5468 There are actually a few places they can go. 1. Cartoon accurate and Toy accurate decos. The animation model was more orange while the toy was more yellow. Plus the toy has red details on the chest that aren't on the animation model while the animation model has red details on the stomach that aren't on the toy. 2. Armada also has a slightly different color scheme though it might be doubtful to see three figures with just slightly different color schemes. 3. There is also a version of the G1 Protype with an accessory that looks like a G1 version of his Mini-con that's also done up in the Energon color scheme and that one is drastically different and I think more likely to actually happen. The design is also simple enough that I think they could actually make it at a relatively cheap cost despite the size. Like they engineering on Unicron is not anywhere near as complex as some of the other figures. Would probably still be expensive but not as expensive as you might think. A lot of it would just be hallow cause of how it transforms, he looks solid but the big ball that is his torso has to be hollow inside. So I think it's going to be deceptively cheap for the size due to that simplified engineering and the fact that most of the figure is likely hallow. It's basically an over sized Leader I think.
@@RialVestro I'm just thinking if they made a screen accurate Unicron, like what we saw in the 1986 animated film ( not the prototype, not Armada ), and it transformed the same way... there's no way it could be fully repainted into a different character, like the same way that a Sideswipe mold can be repainted multiple ways for totally different characters. - Unicron would be a relatively special mold, no where close to what the Armada version was at $50 retail price at the time. And I can't see a legitimate 1986 Unicron being repainted as any other character and without serious circumstances, have it be seen as anything as less than a shameless cash grab. --- There's really only one 1986 movie Unicron... maybe it could be repainted into the prototype colors, but how many people would buy that instead of a screen accurate 86 movie version? That light blue/grey ball shaped old fat looking prototype just looked goofy compared to the screen legend we saw in 86.
To be fair to skybound, as you mentioned, dc (and marvel as well) have hired Martina in the past and only recently,y fired him, this cover was likely commissioned and in production long before that situation, hate on the artist all you want but skybound will probably do no more than fire him and never work with him again, he’s already essentially blacklisted from the industry but stuff he has already done is gonna get published no matter what
They had the cover from Octopante for almost a year and decided not to use it. Martina was found out at DC three months ago, it's highly likely the cover hadn't gone to print yet and they could have decided to axe it the same way they did Octopante's. More to the point, even if he hadn't been found out for faking his art, the Megatron in question has so many glaring errors it's weird nobody at Skybound caught it.
Putting the Missing in Missing Link here! Also can we please stop using AI to replace people? Also checking where the art of merch is from, I know Meg's VA wore a jacket with a stolen art, probably accidentally.
If for Missing Link they ever do make the original idea for Leo Breaker that had a more involved transformation into arm mode, I would be all over it. Also, Botanica, there's a chance. Missing Link Marauder Megatron? ML Transtech Starscream? One can only dream.
Speaking of the Dinoking set, I can't remember an episode in TF Victory where the any of the individual characters transformed into their monster modes.
Yeah, a yellow Optimus Prime doesn't make me think Sentinel, it makes me think of the yellow Spychanger Optimus Prime and Splendid Yellow Convoy. Hell, a callback to those gals would be more interesting than the Sentinel Prime toy.
I'm incredibly excited for Arcee! I need ugly G1 Arcee to complete my life. The old prototype looked like she could have been a retool of Blurr, so maybe they'll use a Blurr-esque transformation for the new one. And maybe we'll get ML Blurr next.
"Someone" made Optimus Prime's head. Dude, that's Amaury Guichon, colloquially referred to as Chocolate Guy. He makes all sorts of amazing sculptures out of chocolate, and many of them contain layers of other desert food inside them as well. Highly recommend checking him out.
Thank you for covering the Mattina cover issue, I brought this up on the r/transformers subreddit and basically everyone was pissed off at Skybound for doing this, and I think the more people who hear about it and complain the better. I hate this situation and it's so disrespectful to all the amazing artists who've contributed to these comics so far.
I’m pretty excited for another shot at Ramjet, though I would rather have reissues of Beachcomber and Devcon as neither were widely available. Also (I think I’m the only one) I am still waiting for word on a Sureshot figure. It was a name only reveal and then nothing. Anyway I digress, thank you for your continued work and look forward to seeing more.
Was the Matrix not green in Marvel Comics? Given that info I think that Sentinel Prime is based on the Marvel comics version which was yellow, opposed to the Cartoon one.
I'm genuinely kind of excited for the missing link arcee, especially if they use the original concept colors Also, I hope that Megatron cover doesn't ship because Dear Lord Skybound have some standards!
at least they can reuse the Sunstreaker mold for not only Gen1 yellow, but Diaclone red and police versions... probably do the same thing with Sidewsipe with red/yellow/police versions, as well as Red Alert and the e-hobby repaints
Amaury Guichon’s videos have been popping up on my feed for months and I’ve seen some ridiculous chocolate creations from him. I lost it when I saw that Optimus head. 😂
BUT JOBBYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Clearly the Missing Link Sentinel Prime is referencing the Marvel comics with its color scheme and green Creation Matrix. At least that’s what came to mind when I first saw it.
While I realize that crapping on Funko is the trendy thing to do (especially after the NFT nonsense), I would say the same critiques for their Pop Vinyl figures could be said for all of these chibi-style non-transforming collectible lines. Funko just got in on it early and are the most recognizable, so I think they get the brunt of the vitriol. That said, I have zero interest in YooToos. Great for those that are into them, though.
I remember reading on the site that announced Super Mode Starscream and SS RotB Nemesis Prime that the remaining stock from the even they were sold at will be put on Takara Tomy Mall and I'm hoping they'll put some up on Pulse as well. Otherwise, I'll just use a proxy service for them.
I wanted Sentinel so much but I'm not paying an extra $50 for a cheap repaint. If it were 120 no problem, but right now it feels like an utter rip off. Missing Link might be hitting a price that locks me out, and I really wanted to support a line that was moderately between leader and masterpiece. but it's just a yellow prime with a bare deco cab for way more. People should be making art and writing stories, NOT AI
I just realized haslab omega prime is basicaly just a missing link omega prime since its mostly the same figure and transformation but with modern articulation.
Ohh my gosh,If they made a missing link Unicron, I’m gonna lose it. Not saying it’s Guarantee, but if they are making Arcee who wasn’t in the original toy line, then I believe they can make unicron as well. Oh one can dream. But the price,oh no, if they were to make a missing link unicron,he might be around the $200 price.
The Yellow Optimis repaint made me feel weird, as if I'm looking at a very faded photo of a red optimus. Lmao That AI thing with the cover sucks. I don't know how these obviously AI generated works get past the editors and all, since it happens with other printed media as well.
Question because now I'm unclear. Is that actually just the original G1 Prototype of Arcee or is that a Missing Link Prototype for Arcee? I've seen her G1 Prototype before and I don't remember her wheels being visible on the shoulders so I thought this was a new mold but my memory is terrible and now I feel like I need to compare the two photos. Edit: I looked and nope those wheels aren't on the shoulders for the original G1 version. It looks like there's some panels on her arms that aren't on that original Prototype either so this is a Missing Link protype. There are some subtle difference but nothing that would stand out too much. That Grimlock repainted as Goryu is reminding me of his RID2015 color scheme... RID2001 too now that I think about it but that Grimlock wasn't a Dinobot. I will say in regards to that Megatron comic book cover... I personally don't mind A.I. art generators as long as it's just for personal use and/or you're fully disclosing the fact that it's A.I. If you're making money of it and claiming to actually make the art yourself, no that's scummy. Don't do that. That said... how the frick did he even get a Megatron that looks this good out of an AI art generator? Other than the shoulder being inside his chest for some reason this is the best Transformer I've seen come out of an A.I. art generator. Usually they don't even look like actual Transformers, they look like generic robots. I've tried to make something with an A.I. generator myself and the images I've gotten don't look like this. I wish I knew what he used as the prompt to get that image. That last one, I've seen that guy before. He makes a lot of weird stuff fully from chocolate.
You could say that's why they never released her that way in G1. But it's still a part of TF history all the same. I'll pick her up for sure. Probably in both these colors and her classic colors.
Something tells me Missing Link is how we get the G1 Unicron prototype finally made
