Accidentally swiped my new blue Burberry bag with ball point pen. I didn’t know what to do but knew alcohol would damage the color. Saw on Bob Villa to use soap & water first. Using a swab and Dawn dish detergent I got the ink out and kept the color intact. It took several rounds of application and using small gentle circles then wiped with water on a paper towel then dried it. It’s not perfect as ball point makes a slight indentation but if you don’t know where to look you don’t see it.
Using alcohol will discolor the leather. Notice how it got a lot lighter after she wiped. They show the bag at the end with a filter. Use this with extreme caution.
I have some Italian Bright Red leather with a small Ballpoint Pen mark. I too found alcohol lifted the red surface colour and left deposits on the cotton bud end I was using and left the surface lighter. I found Menthylated Spirits less aggressive and can be diluted but I still used with caution and finished with a cream restorer. Always try to use an unseen area for a test.
@@ashleyburrell412 Sorry about that. I always test products in an inconspicuous spot first. Sometimes I have to make a choice between a faded area and ink too.
Hello Debbie the restorer! I used your technique and it damaged and ruined my Coach purse and of course I'm very upset!!! What should I do now to fix it???
Don’t use alcohol on your Coach leather !!! It will remove the color and you will have spots left on your leather !!! Best results I have ever had were using small amount of Dawn dishwashing liquid on damp cloth- don’t rub too hard - circular motion - then dab area with cloth soaked in clean water then dab again with dry absorbent cloth to soak any excess moisture. Let air dry !!
I got Blue Cross cuticle remover on eBay after a pro manicurist recommended it on RUclips. Even though it’s runny, it works great on cuticles. Being runny might be a plus for removing ink. Good luck with your leather projects!
Congratulations on your anniversary. That’s a blessing because most people don’t stay married that long. People need to take marriage more seriously and stay in it for the long haul.
Debi, where do I find other Coach leather cleaning videos? I scrolled for a bit and then gave up. Is it shown on the C website? I just placed an order there.
Hi Debbie! My question to you is I have the coach ruby 25. I spilled oil at the bottom of the bag. The interior is made of micro fiber lining. I used corn starch to try to soak up the oil. That didn’t work. Now what do I do? Need your advice.
I have a red coach satchel, the red is stunning, yet I've tried coach cleaner, some pretty expensive saddle soap and I can not seem to get the faded denim stain out. Any suggestions OTHER than saddle soap? I've tried a small area with a magic eraser also, it started to pull the color out.
I would like to know how to clean coach bag linings that do t pull out? Specifically the coach Chelsea bags as I have a few in different colours. I also have a dirt mark on the zip of a coach bag, what’s the best way to clean it please? A few were bought second hand so would like to clean them well before I use them?
I have used upholstery cleaner on the inside. Pull it out away from the bag, spray and use a small brush or dish cleaning pad. Don’t worry it won’t stain the leather if it gets in it. Persistent stains? Reapply the cleaner. Wipe after with a warm cloth! Has worked everytime!
I love that extra large hangtag. Also thank you for these tips. All of my bags are Coach and despite being carful I know I will need these at some point.
I have an untreated natural vegetable tanned leather handbag I wish to slow its patina process and properly keep it maintained. The bag comes kōki edition what leather conditioner do you recommend
My bag is pretty buttery yellow is black I think it’s a stain from another black leather bag something that was in the closet that went onto it by sitting in the closet it’s on the outside front me suggestions for this
I purchase a perfect imperfect 2nd blue Coach bag. I let some purple drink spill on it. I’m so hurt because it was faded but in the best way, now I ruined it. It’s blue. I just tried to use water for now just waiting for it to dry. What may be the best way for me to dye this bag if it does not come out. I want to avoid going to a tannery, I only plaid 10 bucks.
HI Debbie, any tips how to clean coach Ivory treated leather (Looks like plastic) I got stained it, and can not remove it . I try cuticle remover, did not work. Thank you
My Madison Madeline liner has the same issue. Short of sending the bag in for a professional cleaning, I don't know what to do! The lining is a pale cream satin 🤷🏼♀️
Where do we find more tips for our bags? I have a Madeline Madison of which the dye (rose) is wearing down to the original leather color. I previously wrote to Coach and asked if you all had leather polish in that color and was told no flat out. No other recommendations. Nothing. With what $$ we invest into our bags should be enough to motivate Coach Corporate to be on our side and help us!! Maybe a few hundred dollars isn't as glamorous a handbag price to some who can spend $thousands at a time, But I don't see the support here anymore. 😡
bbkbags You are so well-informed about luxury accessories and bags. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
This didn’t work for me - it literally didn’t change anything about a blue pen mark on a pure white coach purse. What am I doing wrong? I using the wrong cuticle remover? I used Sally Hansens gel cuticle remover, the bottle is exactly the same as in the video. It’s the only one I could find in a blue bottle that wasn’t an oil - so what gives?
You did nothing wrong, Amanda. We were just given false information. Do you think someone who makes money off of people who need restoration will actually tell us her "secrets" to remove? Nope! She'd be out of business! I'll tell you what I did, BUT, I knew going into this that I would lose color. I gently used a magic eraser. The plain ones. soaked it and made sure to squeeze all the access water. It took off the pen marks on my bag, but like I said, it also removed/lightened those little sections. I find that it would be easier to stain those areas a bit with color match, and condition it with black rock so that it blends nicely. I like to stay away from dying vintage bags.
The alcohol seems to have bleached the leather. I used to use hair spray on fabric a long time ago for ink. Don't know how it works on leather. Thanks for this video.
I have a black mini Jamie Camera bag and have blue color stain on the front. I used nail polish remover , it didn't remove the stain but the color my bag (black) was all over the Q tip. I try using baby soap, still can't remove the stain.
Ya tried the cuticle remover and it actually softens/wets the leather and makes the surface sticky so it gets dirty again even more easily! Sorry but this hack isn't working great...
I'm here after Coach got exposed shredding perfectly good leather bags for a tax write-off. So basically this program by Coach is nothing more than greenwashing.
She put the results at 1:28, but she put a FILTER over top of it so she also noticed it got lighter as well but still decided to put the video up tf. dont put alcohol on real leather!! On fake leather its okay.

I used cuticle remover (not oil based per her recommendation and didn't let it sit). It discolored the leather and left a spot. I was devastated.
This bag was filthy and the part where I cleaned the whole surface with the alcohol was edited out.

Short and to the point!
Thank you for that Debi.
I appreciate you.
I tried the cuticle remover; I even used the exact same brand! This didn't remove the ink stains, and actually damaged the color on my bag 😢
Yes. Same here. :(
Nail polish remover !
Same here!
The same for me😓
Well you could see the damage done to the color of the bag in the video

Perhaps oxi stain lifter will do the trick. I would be scared to use these suggestions after reading some of these comments. Jeez!
Please do how to clean the suede interior / exterior . Thank you so much for these videos!

I’ve used alcohol on ink stains on my olive drab green coach and it removed the color! Test in an inconspicuous area before doing this!
Love the Regina. I have several. I’m the ultimate vintage Coach top handle lover. Thanks for sharing your tips babe. 🤗💼👜✨✨✨
I have so many bags that were my mother's that are vintage. It'll take forever to clean them all. Probably be easier to sell as is. LOL
There’s a thick layer of disgusting sticky substance on the strap of my Coach bag. What can I do regarding that black sticky thing?
SOS I have an acorn colored pebbled MK the has darkened streaks across it. Any suggestions???
I love that extra large hangtag. Also thank you for these tips. All of my bags are Coach and despite being carful I know I will need these at some point.
The color from my blue jeans got on my purse. How do you remove that?

Does this work for denim blue staining? I have tried Coach cleaner and it's still there on my gray bag.
What products do you use to clean the signature Coach cloth & leather bag?

I need to know too. I'm debating on ordering a kit to recolor mine from Amazon.
How do you clean the vinyl type?
Hi, are Dooney pebble and smooth leathers in the same care categories?
That was so quick to remove those stain! I’m going to try that trick too!!
How do you remove stains from the inside of the coach bag? I think I spilled make up or eyeshadow and it’s all over the inside of my brand new bag.
My Madison Madeline liner has the same issue. Short of sending the bag in for a professional cleaning, I don't know what to do! The lining is a pale cream satin 🤷🏼♀️
Put water on stains first with rag. Liquid Biz detergent on a small clean brush. Rag and water. Done!
Can you wash a couch bag in the washer
I accidently squirted hand sanitizer on my coach bag that is a beautiful dark red color and the color has faded...How do I restore the color?
The alcohol removed colour from my bag and now it has a spot on it, thanks coach when do I get my refund??
Hi Debi, how can I add a bottom protector with feet on a leather tote? Coach bags don't have them.
Certainly, if you like the look of it. Some styles do have the feet.
@@DebiTheRestorer How is it done? My bag did not come with feet and I would like to add.
Alcohol just ruined my Coach purse!! Wish I’d read the comments first. 😢😢😢
Will this work on darker bags??? I’m afraid the color will come off.
It will. It’ll slightly discolor the leather.

Please show how to clean my Coach espadrilles mules?????
The alcohol seems to have bleached the leather. I used to use hair spray on fabric a long time ago for ink. Don't know how it works on leather. Thanks for this video.
I dont think it bleached the leather, it seems like the alcohol just pulled up years of dirt and grime.

Only reason I won’t buy the jacquard bags. I like them but I think they would stain easily.
Please show how to clean a Signature Jacquard Coach saddle bag, especially the interior. I have been unable to find any Coach fabric cleaner.
Hand wash it. I read that it won’t damage the bag just don’t put it in the sun or dryer to dry. Use mild dish detergent not laundry soap.
Another great idea for the next video!
I tried the alcohol only removed the color of the leather left the stain😡
I put very little alcohol wipe for less then 10 seconds on a q tip
