      I think it’s possible that it was Originally intended that she did cheat on Matt, but the developers changed that aspect of her for the final game by taking out the specific dialogue options that further prove it
      Like how Chris and Sam originally were meant to be in on the Hannah prank, but then were changed to be innocent for the main game

    I imagine that ending where Sam and Mike never make it back would be similar to the Quarry where if Laura and Ryan don't kill Chris Hackett, you never get the true final showdown of the game if that happens. I doubt if the other 3 characters that get to the cabin in the end are still alive, that the scene would even play out like that. I imagine this ending would have the remaining characters just staying in the basement until dawn (lets imagine they are not chased by wendigos this time) and the wendigos living
    Thinking more about it, I'm kinda glad Sam and Mike can never die until the end, the final segment is amazing and it wouldn't feel the same if the game didn't have a proper final showdown

    • @Robalexe
      @Robalexe 2 месяца назад

      @@guillermobaldracco1090 They could've made it so that it's a special hidden ending if you intentionally play bad. It's already difficult to get Mike completely trapped by a wendigo and the screen to fade to black before he reaches the last door in the final game anyway. Very few people would get that on their first try unless they really didn't care.

    I might be the only one here, but I truly think Mike should be able to die before the lodge showdown. With the amount of times he’s in danger, it sucks how there’s no stakes because you know it doesn’t matter if you play poorly.

    • @Robalexe
      @Robalexe 2 месяца назад +11

      Based on Ashley saying Sam and Mike never came back, I think the original plan was this: if Mike screws up badly in chapter 9 and gets caught by one of the wendigos and the screen fades to black, he was supposed to die (except if it happens right at the door to get out of the sanatorium), unlike in the final game where it's just "welp, you tried, but he's still alive somehow and weirdly right near the door to get out of the sanatorium!". However, we are not shown Mike is dead until Sam reaches the sanatorium, where she enters on the wendigos feasting on Mike's body. Sam is automatically also doomed in this scenario (based on Ashley's line the two of them both make it back or neither of them makes it back, so if one dies the other will die too). The door to the sanatorium gets closed during the commotion (so the wendigos don't get out) and Sam can't handle multiple wendigos alone and thus gets killed too if she finds Mike dead. After that I can only guess, but Josh probably gets attacked and killed by Handigo at the end of his first segment in chapter 10, since the scrawled journal was never found and no one came to save him cuz Sam and Mike died, so Hannah would have to kill him sooner or later. I like to imagine that after that plus Matt and Jess' segment, Hannah wanders around the mountain and makes her way near the sanatorium where she hears the wendigos, so she bursts in and sees them eating Sam and Mike. As we know, Hannah is the strongest, so she takes on the miners and during the fight they ignite the barrels with Mike's shotgun and blow the sanatorium up, thus killing all the wendigos including Hannah. Chris, Ashley and Emily (if alive) are still safely in the basement when they hear helicopters coming to rescue; they get out of the lodge to signal them and the officers confirm survivors. The lodge doesn't burn down in this scenario. Understandably, this path would've taken A LOT of time and money to develop, so I get why they had to abandon the idea and make it more linear.

      Sam was Hannah's best friend and Mike was her crush, while Josh was her brother. basically Sam, Mike and Josh are important to the final plot. In any case, there are always main and secondary protagonists. Furthermore, the only Weendigo that kills the protagonists is Hannah, it always gives the impression that the miners are weak.

    LOVED the analysis! I’m not sure how much more unused dialogue we would be able to find but somebody on Reddit mentioned that Chris and Sam have a conversation about triplets? But it wasn’t groundbreaking stuff so i didn’t bother checking the files to try to find it. If i ever go back to look, i may post it on Reddit if i ever find it. But it won’t be that interesting.
    Overall, though, i loved seeing people pick apart these voice lines and try to decipher what they mean. It was also fun to see them used in edits on TikTok. Thank you for making these videos, more people needed to know about these.

  • @Robalexe
    @Robalexe 2 месяца назад +7

    You should've commented on the unused conversation between Ashley and Chris in chapter 6, because it actually addressed the issue of Hannah going after a taken man and also Mike being a sleazeball, two things that are completely ignored in the final game.

      Honestly I feel like the game still attacks these topics, at least I personally always realized and though that, even talked about it in the Remake playthrough!

    • @Robalexe
      @Robalexe 2 месяца назад +6

      @@TheGamingLodge The only times those two things are addressed in the final game is the prologue though. Almost every time a character talks about Hannah or the twins, they reference her or them leaving the lodge, but they never reference the motive behind the prank, which is that Hannah wanted to get with Mike, who was with Emily. Similarly, the game always tries to shy away from Mike's sleaziness, they never mention in-game why he broke up with Emily and got with Jess, he sits quietly on the sidelines during Jess and Emily's fight and isn't dragged into the argument, and he never gets confronted for the moment where he hugs Emily through the telescope while Emily does get confronted about it. It's like the game wants you to forget Mike had any involvement in that and the fault lies solely on Emily.

    Hello :)
    Thanks for analyzing the cut content! As someone who genuinely loved the remake even more than the original, it’s sad to see it being bashed so much, but oh well. Isn’t the first time I had a positive unpopular opinion about something that is otherwise hated 😅
    You really nailed it when describing why certain early lines were cut: Timing, pacing, unnecessary parts. Jessica was probably the only one who needed more dialogue, but otherwise, I’m fine with the majority of lines that didn’t make it. Especially the ones that portray the characters in an unnecessary bad light, like Chris being part of the prank or Emily cheating on Mike.
    I’m only sad about Chris’ cut possibility of surviving after shooting Ashley. Would’ve given the game more replayability and is something the remake could’ve reasonably added in, I think. I’m also curious about Ashley’s “they never came back” line and if there are any others like it. Because if Sam and Mike are not present in the lodge at the end, shouldn’t other cut dialogues exist suggesting alternative possibilities? Or maybe it was cut so early on that only things like Ashley’s line remain. Basically, I hope we find more stuff when it comes to this outcome in particular!
    Thanks, I liked getting your perspective on the cut dialogues :)

    • @Robalexe
      @Robalexe 2 месяца назад +2

      @@Tatjana_L. You mean Emily cheating on Matt. And they wouldn't necessarily need more dialogue for characters in the case Mike and Sam already died. The final showdown wouldn't happen, the sanatorium isn't blown up and the miners are busy chewing on Sam and Mike. Hannah probably kills Josh while he's hallucinating (right at the end of his first segment where there's a wendigo-esque creature's head emerging from the wall, it could transition to the real Hannah grabbing him and crushing his head irl, quite poetic); she has to kill him sooner or later if no one comes to save him. Hannah seems to get into the lodge through the door that Sam breaks to get in at the end (cuz she's on the chandelier in that same area a minute later), so she was stalking either her or Mike while they made their way back to the lodge. In this instance, she'd have no one to follow cuz they're both dead, so no reason to make her way to the lodge. At the end we can just get a quick cutscene of Chris, Ashley and Emily still in the basement hearing the helicopters at dawn, and so they get out of the lodge and signal them (you don't need new dialogue for that, just reuse lines of them saying "you hear that?", c'mon, let's go", "hey, over here!" etc).

  • @amara2882
    @amara2882 5 дней назад

    my only problem with the cut dialogue is, you guessed it, it just takes away from jessica’s character. even with the cut dialogue, it makes her more likable to see her interact with the others. she only talks about mike or emily, and that’s annoying because they’re a friend group, those possibly can’t be the only people she has strong enough feelings towards. asking sam if she’s okay if she gets attacked by the crow shows that she cares about the well being of her friends despite being distant. her asking chris about josh shows the same. her knowing secrets about emily and her “mathlete” parties ( to me ) shows that emily isn’t your typical mean girl, and that she actually values her education. while jessica was your standard mean girl that valued nothing but looks. sure, that’s implied during their argument in the original game but that just emphasizes it more. and the “what happened to you, jess?” line by emily really nails the concept that jessica completely changed to the group after the prank, which is why most of the group besides matt & mike, don’t like her that much anymore.
    like you said, it wouldn’t fix her character at all because she would still be missing for 75% of the game, but to would flesh her out more and make her either more likable or more unlikable to the player.

    While I find these deleted lines extremely interesting, I’m perfectly fine with them being deleted. I think the game we got was good. I think if Mike died in the Sanatorium it would’ve been interesting to see but I think it would’ve ruined the lodge sequence at the end which is phenomenal. Plot armor isn’t always a bad thing.

    • @Robalexe
      @Robalexe 2 месяца назад +5

      They could've still made it possible for Mike to die in the sanatorium, because it always requires him to fail like 3 or more times in a row during each encounter for a free wendigo to fully catch him and the screen to fade to black (except the very last part right at the door to get out of the sanatorium, that's the one black screen that shouldn't be death if you don't shoot the barrels). You have to mess up so badly for those black screens to happen before the final barrels explosion part that pretty much no one would get Mike killed on their first try in those scenarios; they'd have to intentionally play badly to get him killed in those moments if it was possible (and subsequently Sam too when she finds him dead in the sanatorium and automatically gets killed too). So I don't personally think it would ruin the lodge sequence or the final chapter if that was possible, because Sam and Mike would still make it back to the lodge 99.9% of blind playthrough cases. It would be a nice bonus hidden ending if anything, similar to The Devil In Me, where you get a special different final chapter if you really suck (though the others except Josh would still be fine, with no lodge sequence and all).
