I'm sorry but Shohei Ohtani was Athlete of the year and its not even close. Biggest contract ever at 700mil, creates the 50/50 club, first DH to win NL MVP, wins the world series and was the main contributor to record viewers to baseball this year. And this is coming from a basketball fan in Australia who hated baseball and never watched a full game until Shohei drew me in this year.

You can’t compare viewership because baseball always has had a fan base, even tho it has dwindled a bit. Clark made people watch a sport world wide that no one cared about.

LOL -- so, Clark didn't win the NCAA title. Well I guess it's a good thing that guy's not a recruiter for a WNBA team, telling its owners, "Good news! I had a chance to sign Caitlin Clark from Iowa, but I passed -- they didn't win the title!"

Absolutely agree that Time Magazine got it wrong. Shohei Ohtani definitely should have been awarded athlete of the Year. Maybe Time magazine needed to tick the box for awarding it to a woman instead of who actually was the best athlete of the year.

Clark put the WNBA on the map after 25+ years of obscurity. Ohtani had a great season, of course, but his impact to MLB was nowhere near the impact Clark had on the WNBA. Clark resuscitated a dead body. She reanimated a long, dead corpse. Again, Ohtani had a great season, historic, the Dodgers won the World Series, he was integral in that World Series win, but he played on a stacked team that likely would’ve, at the very least made it to the World Series, if not winning it even without him. Clark also had a historic season, breaking countless rookie, and league records. She broke a attendance records, whether at home or on the road. She broke merchandise sales records. She is an all likelihood significantly more famous than even Ohtani, and likely more famous than any athlete in America today, male or female. She earned this award.

@ IG? You must be 13. No athlete, college or pro, in any sport has had more coverage, and more of an impact on their sport than Clark over the last two years. By the way, MLB has been doing just fine without Ohtani over the last 100 years, while the WNBA has been bankrupt, dependent on the NBA for its very survival, and has never received the media coverage, television viewership, attendance and merchandise records that Clark has generated. IG; embarrassing.

Caitlin Clark didn't win the NCCA title. Got the 1st pick of the draft overall. Win Rookie of the Year in WNBA. She and her team were the first to get booted out of the playoffs in the preliminary rounds in WNBA. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Not just that, she terminated her WNBA contract so fast to switch over to women's golf. WOW. Time magazine went full wokeism by supporting feminism. Really, y'all pick CC over Shohei Ohtani just cause y'all felt bad for her completely utterly failure?

Double and triple teamed and hacked every game and still broke record's! Ohtani great hitter, but didn't have to deal with the hater's like CC does, from player's, media and racists. Sabrina Ionescu was shooting logo 3's before CC. CC wasn't the reason for the charter flights. Security was the reason. The women's Olympic team still won the gold medal without CC.
