I was so mad when Poobear ran so fast that he didn't see the flat dog at all so I was super excited when you just stood there and waited for it to chase you
Eyyyyy Carl plays a game I recommended(dont know if it was me). Gonna watch all of this for sure. Edit: 2:40 minutes in and the playthrough is already going exactly as I explected😂 boop boop
perhaps the best thing about animal well is that there have been so many different routes taken by the people I've seen playing this, everybody has a different approach to puzzle solving and it has been a delight watching people find different solutions to the same scenario.
@@MB-bl4nl tbf its rarely even useful apart from one pretty lategame mechanic (albeit very inefficient at it). and even then its functionality kinda gets replaced later anyways. its just a neat extra that wasnt needed, but nice. this game is full of that stuff
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THIS GAME. IT LOOKS SO COOL AND IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO PLAY IT!! I’ve been considering buying it after watching Dunkey’s video about its release. Hopefully your video gives me the answer. Also I don’t want to spoil much for myself
So, I avoided spoilers, and 2 months after its release, I finally bought it! Got it 2 days ago and yeah, I love it. I won’t spoil anything incase other people are reading thinking about buying the game, but the experiences you get in this game are worth avoiding spoilers. I ended up spoiling a couple things when I got super stuck in one area, ang Googled for help, and I kinda regret not figuring things out on my own
52:40 So there is an EXTREMELY obscure mechanic that only functions one day a year in this specific room, so I'm putting it under the cut in case you're interested. So, once a year, on Groundhog Day (or whenever you set your console/computer's clock to Groundhog Day) you can get a special item from this guy (one per year, and it remembers which years you've done it on) that gives you permanent extra health!
The Kaizo folks are fascinating to me. I watch Poo and Carl struggle with the most obvious mechanics in games, but they navigate levels in Mario that I absolutely cannot. When I say obvious of course I mean obvious to me, which just goes to show how different we are all built at the end of the day. I can't even make it through one of Carl's Kazio College hacks and lord knows I've tried lol.
I'm so glad I didn't discover the infinite bubble jump until after beating the game, it's fun for speedrunning but ruins a lot of puzzles/ makes you think of cheesing instead of the more obvious solution
My twitch chat didn't seem to think it was cheese. Is it worth not using except as a last resort? I've played a lot of romhacks where infinite bubble jumping is a mechanic so it was obvious for me to try. Also, I do find it very fun to do as a movement tech.
@@CarlPlayin42 Since you asked... It is and isn't cheese. It's definitely a form of movement the dev was aware of and intentionally chose not to fix. In general, this game takes the concept of sequence-breaking and incorporates it very well -- you may find yourself in puzzle areas you're not equipped to solve, but you're never going to "ruin" anything by using the disc jump or the infinite bubble jump. Just play how you enjoy. This game is a delight.
@@CarlPlayin42basically everything is “fair game” but there’s always gonna be an “intended” way to solve something. You should be fine tho even if you do just bubble jump everywhere haha
@@CarlPlayin42 It's not cheese in the sense that the dev intentionally left it as an option, but it is cheese in the sense that it makes the rest of the game significantly easier and lets you avoid learning certain other mechanics since you can just bubble jump to avoid them.
I can't believe you juked the first scare for that long, that was really impressive. I've loved watching you play these other games, Carl. I hope you still try Noita at some point.
Never seen or heard about this game. I'm one of those that are not so into new games that takes hours outside Mario. But if someone that I have known for years plays it, I give it a chance. And since you are my favorite gaming RUclipsr I have more hope that there will be amazing reactions and exploring. I came In love with it. And when I got more familiar with you, I went back in time on your main channel to watch Detroit, Outer Wilds and other games.
I just realized that you can do the whole section to get the disk *without* the disk. I assumed that the whole point of the level was to try and complete it while a threat was chasing you.
This game is so cool. The secrets go so deep. Im sad i dont have more of it to play, unless I do some crazy secrets someone else figured out. I'm also sad that he missed some things that were right in front of him On the other hand, he figured out bubble jumping right away!
When I saw all the positive comments on this game and then saw it on PSN, I instantly downloaded it. It didn't vibe with me, so I moved on. I was hoping watching you would show me something I'm missing, but no. Hope you keep playing it so at least I can experience it through you!
Carl you come sooooo close to discovering obvious mechanics and miss them, but then discover some of the hardest and most secretive mechanics immediately without issue.
1:40 I played this entire game. I beat it. I got all the eggs. I didn't go past that, but that's a LOT. I never knew you could do this. And you just stroll up here in less than 2 minutes and do some shit that I didn't do in so many hours. Sometimes I see people play games and I think, man they didn't figure out this puzzle or couldn't do this challenge, that's frustrating to watch. But I know in my heart that I too would miss obvious things others would find frustrating. Doesn't it make it less frustrating for me to watch though. I'm just not built for Let's Plays of some games. But you have fun out there.
The one key thing that you missed, which doesn't seem like a spoiler; when you used the whistle to open the mouth, you were standing in front of something specific.
Carl goes, "I have 2 keys, that I still don't know what to do with" proceeda to walk into a locked door 3 seconds later...and doesn't do anything with the keys😂
i wonder how long it'll take him to realise all 4 starting areas can just be completed right away. he doesnt need any of the other items. he got the disc and then promptly left the area
LMAO I just noticed the thumbnail makes the ghost cat (I know it's actually a dog idc it looks like a cat and there's a cat-shaped bush or something right outside) look like it has a fat ass
I was so mad when Poobear ran so fast that he didn't see the flat dog at all so I was super excited when you just stood there and waited for it to chase you
Carl learning about the flute and then *immediately* forgetting it is peak Carl. XD
I wish I could watch Carl, but I am going through the game unspoiled. I don't want to be Tunic'd again. Have fun on your adventures! And good luck!
Going through blind is worth having to wait to watch.
That's the right decision! I'm sorry you were Tunic'd.
spoiler: aminal
Yeah have funnnnn ^w^

27:36 even with the map I got stuck in deepnest because I fell in without the lantern and couldn’t tell which way was the way out.
Just finished watching the Tunic playthrough. Incredible timing!
ive watched 3 people play this, none of them found the touch/mouse mechanic. you did in the first few minutes
I needed a hint for that ;-;

Coming from tunic made me thoroughly press every button on my controller several times
I like how Carl keeps joking about "the lair of the Ostrich", completely unaware that he is, in fact, in the lair of the Ostrich. XD
After watching other streamers fail so hard at B. Wand, you getting it so easy is so satisfying. Kaizo Gods!

This is a good game to avoid spoilers for
go in as blind as possible. there is some stuff and interactions that feels really really good discovering on your own! highly recommend it.

i am now very excited to get home and watch this
You may be happy to know the official lore that the character you play as is canonically a mexican jumping bean
Already beat this game so I’m excited to see Carl play through this ^^
Carl: Uses disc jump to reach mouse tower place
Also Carl: "Surely they wouldn't expect me to disc-jump to get around here"
I'm so glad I didn't discover the infinite bubble jump until after beating the game, it's fun for speedrunning but ruins a lot of puzzles/ makes you think of cheesing instead of the more obvious solution

I just finished Animal Well myself. Now i can finally watch the vods without getting spoiled.
I've seen 3 people playing this game, and they all went about in different ways to play it,and successfully, amazing game design!!
I can't believe you juked the first scare for that long, that was really impressive.
I've loved watching you play these other games, Carl. I hope you still try Noita at some point.
I am really enjoying this. You are such a great gamer, timing the jumps and everything, i doubt i can do it
every playthrough of these games are always so unique, happy to see you play it too!
I was really hoping you would play this! I loved playing this game so much!! And I’m pretty sure it’s right up your alley as well ❤
Hell yes, Animal Well! I literally just played through this over the weekend.

its so funny watching carl who tries all jank, end up not trying jank and testing interactions in a game that clearly wants you to xD

Carl you come sooooo close to discovering obvious mechanics and miss them, but then discover some of the hardest and most secretive mechanics immediately without issue.
Some mechanics come more naturally to some people than others
Started playing this game a couple of weeks ago and didn't realize it was a dark game. Spoopy.

that ghost cat is the most terrifying monster of all 2D games
Of course Carl is great at finding knowledge checkpoints.
omg omg omg I love larl I love animal well I'm so excited
Now I know what to watch today.
:)
Carl goes, "I have 2 keys, that I still don't know what to do with" proceeda to walk into a locked door 3 seconds later...and doesn't do anything with the keys😂
I did not even know that that you can do that jump tech.
How good is this game? I don't want to spoil myself if its undertale/hollow Knight/ Celeste level.
Or is this one a watch?
I... think it falls short of those games, but it depends how much you like puzzles.
As someone who played this on Steam with an Xbox Controller, I did not know about that touch/mouse mechanic.
Hey Carl, love your content. Are you going to finish OOT and upload to RUclips?
Why are you stealing from --ruins-- wells
Carl @ 2:26:57; Casually figures out Bubble Wand Chaining
Also Carl, four seconds later: Misses the eye shine on the Fish. Repeatedly
8:12 NO, THIS IS PATRICK!!! 😂
I didn’t realize you could use the b wand like that until I beat the game and watched a speedrun 😅
Yay animal well!
Wait What video was carl in that Mark Rober made?
Wow I can’t wait for him to see the ---
Animal Well, the Outer Wilds of... Rainworld games?
...okay that one doesn't quite work.
This game is basically like Halo 2 meets Halo 3
i wonder how long it'll take him to realise all 4 starting areas can just be completed right away. he doesnt need any of the other items. he got the disc and then promptly left the area
I'm surprised by how many of this game's nerds can pin Carl down in a location.
When will we get the rest of the zelda blind playthrough?
Bro this Spirit Temple is looking a little bit weirder than I remember
LMAO I just noticed the thumbnail makes the ghost cat (I know it's actually a dog idc it looks like a cat and there's a cat-shaped bush or something right outside) look like it has a fat ass
welcome to the tip of the iceberg carl!
Carl once again stealing from Ruins
yesss play noita next
1:05:00 ....carls so blind...... aghh
Wow, I really wanted you to plah this game. I heard it's like Halo 2 and 3 combined
Want my oot conclusion. Come on Carl. Please.
I DECLARE WAR ON SCANLINES! Seriously tho, am I the only one that HATES them?
They definitely make the game harder to see, but clearly the dev thought it was worth it for the vibe. I appreciate them even as they annoy me :(
they don't bother me much but i would prefer not to have them
I turned them off immediately because I couldn't stand them, but they don't bother me watching somebody else play.
