    About the buttons switching between Nintendo-mode and XBox-mode, the same applies to the 8BitDo controllers, at least mine (Pro 2 wired). It indeed is rather annoying for PC-gamers. In my case I have to use the XBox mode (because I don't use it on a Nintendo) but then the buttons are labeled wrong, in the software it is all fine but the software thinks for example that the B-button is the A-button, things like that. More annoying, because my controller fakes to be an XBox-controller 1 game is broken for it: Cuphead. When it sees a XBox-controller it thinks somehow that 2 controllers are connected and it automatically pops to the 2nd player while only 1 player is playing with 1 controller. When I checked the controller for my Linux-kernel I noticed that in the Switch-mode the controller has a drift for at least one axis, apparently Nintendo uses a whole different calibration. I noticed that drift in a racing game when I accidentally had it in the Switch-mode so I checked the controller by running the jtest program.

      I live with the same problem. Sometimes when the game allows me to choose, like CrossCode, I choose PlayStation button prompts cause I understand those well. Or Nintendo, but I don't even remember those being an option. I think the new Tomb Raider remasters automatically recognise 8-bit stuff as Nintendo.

    The hardware inside is way too weak. The Retroid Pocket 5 has a snapdragon 865, old and not as efficient as possible, sure, but cheap. The T820 inside the RG556 is way too weak to want 180$ when the Retroid Pocket 5 is 210$

      That only really matters for switch and maybe some cemu stuff. I have a retroid 5 on the way, but I'll need to order a grip. The feel is way more important to me

      @@rattlehead999 PS2 ran perfectly even upscaled 2x - 5x depending on the game. I've never actually played an Xbox game in my life... so I didn't try those. I'll see how the retroid pocket 5 feels with the grip and maybe make a video about that.

      I think it depends on what you have and what you need. I wanted the comfort of 556 with oled, and I have a steam deck and a switch lite. So I don't need an rp5. I actually want cheap a vertical and to get rid of my tsp to my candy handlehald also forgot my vita

    Cool, but can you install SteamOS on it? ?

    • @Pieteros21

      no , it's arm . you are stuck with android .

    • @Armand79th
      @Armand79th 3 дня назад

      ARM has excellent Linux support, but it depends on how badly the device has been janked.
      Personally, with the apparent lack of any Linux development for the device, I'd absolutely give it a miss.

    Cool device, but it's not for me. I'm looking for a handheld that's just slightly bigger than a Vita and can do PS2 and GC at 720p for a few hours before needing to charge.

    For the price... I'll pass.
    I've already got the RG40XXV running Linux, which runs retro games perfectly.

    Too expensive for it is. I'd rather spend an extra $100 on an OG base model Steam Deck.
