Uganda should also consider using biogas.
Are you using starch as binder
Use coconut shell, waste wood, charcoal quality will be better
if one burns the trash in an open oven like it's shown here, doesn't it just turn to ash, and not char? Doesn't the burn need a chimney and reduced amount of oxygen to make char and not ash?

They chock the fire down midway through. When the man puts the lid on it the fire stops. Then the material cools before they take the lid off.
this works, but you get about half the charcoal of what you put in.
the other way is start a fire outside of the drum (under it) with a chimney o nthe top of the barrel. when no more smoke comes out, the charcoal is ready.
