Can’t agree enough with Eddie here. Changing careers and going into education, albeit 16+ education (massive kudos to those that teach kids), has been a fantastic experience.
I used to know Calculus 5. Now I have no clue and Eddie Woo has explained to my existence why I chose comedy instead as a career path. These mechanisms of brain patterns for learning complex problems of mathematics dwindle throughout the aging of our cells and external influence built by the genius of minds that created them in the first place, such as social media, thus becoming a double edged sword on society for furthering education. Put simply, It is difficult for anyone to keep up with educational endeavors when the bills need to get paid, lol. There are only so many hours in a day to contrive the energy necessary to memorize processes that need immense focus to continue moving forward in the plethora of knowledge of a billion human beings throwing knowledge at us with the diverse topics constantly bombarding our attention span. I hope this message has helped someone figure out their motivation for furthering their life purpose to align their values more deeply. Don't be discouraged. Pivot to doing what you love. Hang in there folks. You don't need to do everything.. Just follow your passion. If mathematics isn't it, find what is, whether teaching like Eddie Woo, or being a degenerate throughout time like me from the ledge of knowledge I fell from to discover another.
I don't quite agree that anyone can achieve whatever discipline they want, even given the prerequisite dedication to learn. Of course, everyone is able to _improve_ their performance in any discipline they want. That is true. But the idea that anyone can be a high achiever at anything they want (and therefore successful in some professional fashion at whatever they want) is a utopia. We have strengths and weaknesses. Some people have a gift for grasping mathematics. And those people will always outperform someone who finds mathematics difficult. Same with many other disciplines. It doesn't mean that someone who struggles with maths shouldn't hope to improve. But expectations should be managed.
No they won't ALWAYS outperform. Someone who LOVES mathematics seems to be a much better heuristic for determining the outcomes of mathematical thinking. Someone who loves math but has to work twice as hard at it, will definitely out perform someone who despises math but has a strong aptitude for it if you told them both to study math for a month and come back for testing. The person who doesn't love math will likely make sloppy mistakes simply because they don't care. They might have a bit more working memory and be able to hold information in their heads, but it doesn't matter at all because the person who loves math will just use diagrams to make up for the extra working memory! Okay if you compared them in some 1:1 vaccum MAYBE, but that literally does not exist in life. The person who doesn't like math would study way less, think about it way less than the person who loves it but struggles. Because remember, learning ALSO happens after studying, it happens when you're thinking about it in the shower "The person with good aptitude and low interest wouldn't be thinking about math in the shower, i'll tell you that much."
@@jayocaine2946 I think I can broadly agree with that. But my expectation is that the people who enter professional positions in mathematics are, _generally_ speaking, people who enjoy maths. And of the pool of people who enjoy maths and are applying for those positions, the ones that get the best positions are the ones who have a natural ability in this area. And these people are always going to out-perform the people who don't have the natual ability. And I used math as an example but I think that applies across many disciplines.

You're talking about performance in the workforce when it comes to higher maths, and yes of course the people with stronger aptitudes who ALSO love and live and breathe maths are going to be stronger candidates than the guy who just loves maths but has to trot his way there. But what the original topic is about, that a lot of people think that you have to have some innate ability in math to make it even past calc II, which absolutely is not the case. Anyone with an interest in math can make it WAY further than pessimistic internet downers make it seem. But I hypothesize that there isnt' such thing as "innate genetic ability" like people try to make it seem. I'm convinced that ability in math is determined by how your attitude is coached as a kid. There's been studies showing just how much attitude effects performance academically. I feel like these can be taken to extremes, either somewhere in your life you identified as someone who's bad at math for whatever reason, typically an adult in your life failed you and instilled some bad attitude towards it.

It's creating the fake growth cycle through inflated Stocks and Real Estates value and it's going through this perpetual cycle causing everything in the country and also those countries that do business with America become costly. America should find a way to draw down these excess inflated values so people don't suddenly find themselves on the street just because of unaffordable rental or mortgage payments. A 2000sqft home should cost 500,000. It's so wicked 😳
