great video, very easy to understand, there's lots of videos out there that over complicate things and it kind of puts people off but you seem to make them much simpler and easy to understand, i don't own a big bike let alone an r7 but i enjoy learning more from watching and it could and probably will come in handy in the future

Take the rubber boot out if you’re getting it tuned. Yamaha designed it to be removable for extra power/ track use. It is on there for regulatory purposes. I will say the extra power is minimal though.

Just installed my DNA air filter and I’m getting my ECU back from being flashed tomorrow! I did notice that my air filter fit perfectly with the DNA writing towards the tail though, it’s flipped in your video.

nice, glad the vids have been helpful! the stock filter needs to be replaced every 24000 miles. the DNA you keep and just clean and lube it up. every 7-15000 miles. I did stage 2 and I still think it runs within ratios that don't damage the bike, but I will be getting a tune at some point and I think the bike will be 👌🏼 after that

Brilliant video bro, im looking at fitting a DNA air filter to my R 7, it has a Leo Vince exhaust street legal system on it......Would i have to tune it after fitting the DNA if not would the engine end up running too hot. Cheers
I just picked up a 24 R7 and it doesn’t have that rubber boot on top of the air box. I can remove my seat and look in between the tank and see the air filter.
Thanks again for the great video! Was wondering if the gain was noticabled after switching the air filter without tuning the ECU? I have a MIVV exhaust installed so I noticed that the engine is running rich on gas. Hoping that changing the air filter would change that by getting more air.
I didn't really notice a difference, but I just got the DNA stage 2 which is going to let in way more air. I should be installing that this weekend so ill let you know if I notice a difference. hopefully I get it dynoed shortly after

Yea, I did the FTECU I like the basic unrestricted tune that it comes with and the ability to get way into tuning later if I want to start to fine tune

Nice video! I bought a racing R7 intake came with a MWR foam filter, airbox lid with big opening no snorkel and also came with replacement velocity stacks! Same setup most front running r7's in Moto America twins cup class... Heads up the velocity stacks are not fun to install!

Scouts Out! I have a 2024 R7 with sc project crt exhaust ! I was wondering what you think of installing a de restricted throttle plate as well as the ftecu tune , dna filter or yoshimura air box . i daily ride this bike any recommendations would be greatly appreciated !
FTECU poses another issue of tuning as it isn’t a tune persay. It gives you the ability to tune the bike but you need to know what you’re doing. The kit will lock your ecu to your computer so if you want to have someone tune it for you you have to give them your bike and computer to do so. I reached out to yoshimura and they said they used A Racer for the tune

I’m going to try and dyno after flash yes, I chose to buy a tuner instead of going to get it done so I haven’t asked that question yet. I did find that there is a aftermarket DNA top cap that can be added to increase flow that would not fit the stock rubber piece. Which means to me take it off there is no real use for it

A little with the exhaust, I just rode it today I had Covid all last week and I didn’t notice a change with the air filter in hopefully the tune will give a nice bump, if anything I’m going to reduce the engine breaking with the tune so that should be cool too
I just did rhis video szep by step and after opening fuel tank and deconnect the cable i lifted it up did some thing and after maybe 5 minutes I saw that one fuel cable was disconnected so yea there was running out fuel maybe aomwone can twll me for what this one is because its not the main fuel cable i guess so yes. But take care of this when doing it!

i'm not a professional so take this with a grain of salt. i know that if a car runs to lean you will get a check engine light, and that can happen at 20-25%. i've rode the bike with a scan tool on it and it doesn't run lean enough in my opinion. what i don't know is when the bike would throw a CEW for being to lean, but the way i see it the bike will run much better with a tune.
I rode mine for quite a while and was told even with the exhaust and dna it isn’t going to hurt the bike, technically mine still doesn’t have a tune mine is just unrestricted so less engine braking and the fan turns on earlier

Hard to say I’ve been told no it’s fine, but I personally believe it needs a tune at that point, I don’t think you getting a real benefit out of the the intake and exhaust without the tune. I want more than just a little power increase too I want to drop some engine braking too

Yea, ram air is when air while driving gets forced into the engine, with the rubber boot on facing to the back of the bike it’s sucking air in vs being forced in. It’s kinda a joke with the r7 because the front of the bike where the center headlight is, is for the r6/r1 funnel air into the intake where the r7 front whole is just fake ram air as their is no ducting to direct the air and there is a light instead. Hope this helps

Really hard to say. I've done the exhaust filter and DNA cap which was the most noticeable power gain. When I got it dyno tested it was lean but less then 10%. Understanding how cars run... anything under 10% is acceptable, not optimal but acceptable. So will it damage anything, imo no but the gain in power with more fuel would be drastically better
Ok good to know yeah I just ordered an exhuast and the stage 2 filter so I’m throw them on this weekend. But I also don’t have a tuner near me so I’m be riding it without tune for awhile until I find one or go somewhere
I wouldnt run both without a ECU flash because the R7 is already lean from the factory so to add a aftermarket pipe & filter it has to make it way more lean sure you can run it but I wouldnt
@@ScoutsOut I just put a down payment on a 60th GP Anniversary Edition R7 it won't be here till sometime in September. Yosh exhaust with new intake and braided brake lines with be the primary mods I do. Outside of that I want to keep the bike in original format as I feel this edition will be come collectable down the line.

There is a stage 1 and stage 2 cap for the DNA filter thats why you have to get the stage 2 for the bigger hole

It won’t fit on there which makes me think the rubber top won’t matter if you take it off, looks like the top is just a wider opening then stock

Also did the canister delete.. you may or may not have one on your R7 it's a ca. thing, when the valve activates it leans out the bike

Yea I think so, it’s pushed up against the tank. I guess if you took the bolt out of the front it may be possible

I wouldnt run both without a ECU flash because the R7 is already lean from the factory so to add a aftermarket pipe & filter it has to make it way more lean sure you can run it but I wouldnt

@@ScoutsOut I just put a down payment on a 60th GP Anniversary Edition R7 it won't be here till sometime in September. Yosh exhaust with new intake and braided brake lines with be the primary mods I do. Outside of that I want to keep the bike in original format as I feel this edition will be come collectable down the line.
